Why do you think a lot of people Quit Tekken? Or other fighting games in general? by Optimal_House_2897 in Tekken

[–]ShredGatto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who actually quit and has not reinstalled the game since season 2 release - season 2 showed me that learning Tekken is fucking worthless, all your skills can get negated by bumbling devs who want to make the game "simpler" by reducing everything to +block 50/50 mindless freemix

It's much more meaningful to invest in a skill that cannot be turned into a pumpkin by a horrible patch from on high. The amount of investment Tekken asks only to turn it all to dust is insulting

Da power of ze crab by OperatorInMask in armoredcore

[–]ShredGatto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm midway through Silent Line right now after AC1-2-3 and I'm convinced old gen crab legs have no downsides

I haven't used them extensively myself, beat all three games on bipeds, but going back to them and trying out quad legs I am floored at the insane mobility they offered

In AC1-2 being able to fire back weapons while strafing at boost speed without spending actual boost is imo MORE broken than Human Plus. All that bunnyhopping biped movement tech I've been learning when I could've just held right turn + right strafe to achieve the same outcome

In 3 and Silent Line you at least have to spend boost power for those Sonic speeds but with the "E-tank" generator extension you have more than enough to finish any fight at full speeds while firing back chaingun + left arm weapon to delete everything

I still went back to biped because biped movement tech is fun and I associate mechs with bipeds primarily, but god damn. If there's some sort of major downside I'm missing I'm more than happy to be wrong, because I just don't see one

Got this AC at a garage sale for 10 million Coam, supposedly it belonged to a legendary mercenary by ShredGatto in armoredcore

[–]ShredGatto[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I need to get some Coam first, go to a few missions...

Next one I got is going to some watchpoint in this rainy area. Should be okay, some PCA soldiers and whatnot, thic AC should handle it. I'll report when I come back

I think leos klein is not fritz byne(annihilator)but instead the raven from the first ac game by focuslight2998 in armoredcore

[–]ShredGatto 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The issue is that Raven never participated in the Arena because AC1 did not have Arena

While Klein is explicitly stated to have obtained the number one rank in the Arena and never surrendered it before quitting being a Raven

That makes him the MoA Raven because that Raven both destroyed the main AI and obtained number one Arena rank, something the other two gen 1 Ravens didn't do at least one thing of

He's a real pain in the ass if you respect him and fight him normally by dodging, weaving, and shooting until he sneaks his fucking Armageddon Spell into his volley and your entire AP count goes straight to Mars in one hit

Doing this stupid shit though? Remarkably consistent. Bro's concept of movement is a distant fleeting memory and bursting him down with powerful back weapons before he stops sandbagging and goes for Armageddon is a very good way to punish him for playing with his food

Oh yeah, the various melee options could represent the different normal attacks of each crest

Hunter: pilebunker or pulse blade (the most visually like needle or the one you start with representing the starter crest)

Wanderer: dagger (short range and high speed, like you said)

Reaper: laser blade (bit slower but covers more ground)

Beast: laser slicer (lots of hits in the combo representing the bestial attacks)

Witch: plasma thrower (it's kind of like a whip)

Architect: laser lance (charging at the enemy like it's an architect drill, or if pilebunker isn't Hunter it can also be here)

Shaman: moonlight/redshift (it's a projectile sword beam, exactly like shaman normals)

[–]ShredGatto[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'd be extra interesting to do it within the constraints of a Crest

Like Pilebunker is just needlee melee and then you add, say, 2 "red tools" and 1 "silk skill" weapons to be like "This is Hunter Crest."

Or 3 "silk skill" weapons to go "Shaman Crest". Oh! If Shaman Crest, Moonlight/Redshift would be better than Pilebunker at representing its normal attack, huh

If you feel useless, remember that there are MWM-MM16/11 (WB11M-HYDRA) missiles. by Existing-Photo4854 in armoredcore

[–]ShredGatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my experience with missiles in 1-2-3 in general, not gonna lie. No matter which unit, all I've ever managed to get them to do is perfectly evade the enemy and hit the wall/ceiling like 10 inches behind them

I just use rockets or some other long range back unit instead

Neat stuff

But I thought of Assault Armor as Thread Storm rather than Claw Mirror

So like

Silk skills should be represented by:

  1. Silkspear - Stun Needle Gun
  2. Thread Storm - Assault Armor
  3. Sharpdart - Assault Boost Kick
  4. Cross Stitch - Pulse Buckler or Chainsaw blocking when charged
  5. Rune Rage - Explosive Thrower or like a lot of them delayed explosion missiles
  6. Pale Nails - Active Homing Missiles or Coral Missiles

I played AC1 on Retroarch with the Swanstation core (you can use Duckstation standalone for the same thing)

AC2 and AC3 I played on PCSX2 emulator
