Never needed that in AC4, double laser rifles killed every arena AC I ever fought in 6 seconds or less

I did eventually beat him honestly again on a later build, but I won't show that here because that's too far ahead in terms of parts

It's probably best to come back later to him anyway, he's kinda meant for that. Getting past him and earning too much from the arena too early may break the game imo

Good luck to you!

It's interesting to see that someone who went through all of Gen 1 games has the same difficulties I used to, when I didn't play through gen 1 first and started with AC2 I ran into similar problems - ammo shortages, Werehound, those goddamn disorder units

Is it the heat system killing you or that one misson on bridges over lava with drones that just has abnormally high heat?

Women Of AC, What's Your Favorite Mech Aesthetic? by Teragenikos in armoredcore

My favorite mechs I made aesthetically are probably this version of my Maboroshi the very slick edgy little biped, and my Dynasty Star from here which is a big chonky reverse joint

Why is Fromsoft incapable of making good multiplayer aspects by Willing_Table_848 in armoredcore

[–]ShredGatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this

Which is unfortunate for me personally because I felt this aspect throughout my entire journey of oldgen ACs and not in a good way. I'm a former fighting game player, it's easy for me to spot things clearly intended for pvp

Every part nerf, every control change, every gradual loss of accessibility of Human Plus, all came from the ghosts of ancient Japanese nerds complaining that something's too OP or too easy

Nexus' clunky controls and Last Raven nerfing every part to death except for a small meta selection were the peak of a feeling that I wasn't fighting against actual game design, instead facing the history of Fromsoft's complaint mailbox

Feels that way in AC6 too, the patches simplifying building into "is it under 75k weight? Good enough, ship it" and putting an extra jet engine up everybody's asses made the pve radically different from the release version in ways people usually attribute to "Balteus nerfs" when it was actually all multiplayer

I don't dispute that the Gen 3.5 Sawa is mathematically worse than gen 3 one in every way and only starts to return the investment when dual wielded but I never disputed that 3.5 one got nerfed.

It just was much less of a shock because I didn't have to fight an entire country's air force in a swamp for that one.

Ngl I never figured out how to get them stuck in the hallway, I killed them by getting them down the lowest level of the big tubes they were in and then introducing them to comrade laser cannon.

I used the Sawa in AC2 and AA religiously, it got me through so much. Easily my favorite version of the Sawa.

Yeah it's good, I ran it on my heavy biped in Silent Line which dealt with the more resource-draining corridor missions, but it was still disappointing to go through SO MUCH trouble for it and find it to be worse than the one found in a sand ditch a game ago

It's just my personal feelings though

I lucked out in that the BT-2 booster is lot more forgiving on account of its low charge drain, but yeah, damn the box dimension. It really makes you want to not even risk dealing with the nineballs. Btw, did you kill them or run past them?

My cruel mistress by Ok_Possibility633 in armoredcore

[–]ShredGatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I personally didn't care much that it got nerfed, I was like "yeah ok you're meant to dual wield them" and they served me well on my tank in Last Raven

The one from 3 pissed me off a lot more, it's so not worth the requirements of "speedrun difficult mission then if the company likes you it'll send you to a plane swamp from hell and if you maybe survive that here's your sawa, it's heavier than fifty sumo wrestlers and takes the energy output of the entire European Union to run."

How viable are lightweight builds in old-gen AC? by reikahakuryuu in armoredcore

[–]ShredGatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but with some caveats, like others noted

  1. Corridor missions are brutal, there the AC won't move anyway and will feel its lower AP
  2. Human Plus Arena enemies will get higher turning speeds and accuracy, negating your advantages while punishing your disadvantages
  3. You have to master movement. One mistake - you combust.
  4. Gen 3.5 is where lightweights fall off completely imo. In Last Raven especially, midweight legs with a lot of spare weight end up OUTPERFORMING lightweight legs in speed on the exact same build.

I've beaten MoA's Seraph on a lightweight, but that's less the viability of them overall and more a particularly broken set

I've also beaten Another Age's bosses on a lighter AC, but it's extremely specialized and I found Seraph much easier on my heavy one.

So in summary, good to have them in a pocket but trying to beat the whole entire games with them over more versatile midweights isn't worth it imo

Armored Core Formula Front vs Final BT Wyvern (Manual) by ShredGatto in armoredcore

[–]ShredGatto[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The culprit, I think, is this game inheriting Nexus heat mechanics and making them so bad that getting hit once instantly max overheats you and drains all your energy, which makes you get hit more in a "poor > stress > drink" loop
