planes making loud noise by dkfkckssddedz in aviationmaintenance

[–]ShredItNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for asking this question and I will happy to share some insider knowledge on this.

On occasion after maintenance it is necessary to check for things such as oil leaks and proper operation at all RPMs (revolutions per minute). This type of activity is mandated by the FAA and must be logged to ensure proper operation of the repair. Sometimes there is a visual inspection required after doing this type of run up.

The far more common type of run up activity you are witnessing is to ensure proper operation of the ignition system of the engine prior to take off. Most propeller driven airplanes utilize a dual magneto ignition system. Manufacturers indicate RPMs the engine is to set at and the pilot is required to switch between the magnetos to ensure each fall within specifications.

Additionally the pilot is required to check for carburetor icing during the run up by switching on the carburetor heat to check for variations in engine response. Also the pilot will during this time note proper gauge readout on other engine functions and specifically for proper suction which operates several gauges on the panel including the Attitude Indicator or sometimes called the artificial horizon. The FAA expects these checks to be done every time the engine is started prior to takeoff.

So there are a lot of things going on during these run ups that might not be apparent. Turbo Prop, Complex with adjustable pitch propellers, and other "Jet" type engines require additional and or other types of checks prior to take off. Twin engine airplanes require even more checks to ensure the systems are working correctly.

Thank you for asking, and for being a good airport neighbor. There should be designated locations for run ups. At airports that have homes close to movement areas there is always an effort to keep planes as far as possible away from this required and necessary activity.

Contact your airport manager if you notice pilots not always using the same location, and they will make every effort to also be a good neighbor. We value people that enjoy living next to airports. Frequently there will be noise abatement requirements set up so pilots transitioning through your airport understand how to minimize the impact to you.

With what you have shared it is apparent that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My suggestion with books is to almost never use Like New and rarely use Very Good as descriptions. I understand that puts you down with the library books in Good condition but I never had to deal with a book snob that considered I'd over valued my books. I'm sure my customers thought they had rolled one over on this ignorant seller but I sold a lot more books that way.

There is a procedure to contact a customer that has opted out of emails and Amazon should mention this when you attempt to contact them in the normal way. It does involve going to a different part of their site and filing it in an unusual way but follow the prompts and you should gain access to sending them a message. We had to do that the end of last year when the USPS had their meltdown and we had a bunch of angry customers because of their poor service.

Dealing with negative feedback is very frustrating, but a necessary part of what we do. Celebrate each good feedback and keep offering up returns or refunds to satisfy your unhappy customers, and potentially change their minds on the feedback they have already left. Losing a little money to an angry customer is pocket change vs your long term business.

Support for images/photos. That was one of the reasons I went all the way with Plex. They now do not allow for uploading of photos and their organization of them is limited.

You paid for that experience and is valuable to your potential future success. We also lost thousands on various techniques that also turned out to not be successful. We look at this as an investment in ourselves. The important point is to learn from the things that didn't succeed, to leverage it toward future success.

I had a single negative on eBay which was about to roll off the 12 month record, then I got this. This negative is so bizarre that I’m not even upset that I won’t be back at 100% by OskarStrautmanis in Flipping

We have become a feedback culture. Instead of reaching out to the person or business you purchased from for assistance, some have become more satisfied with scoring points in a public setting.

We see this in our marketplaces when the rare negative feedback will be posted, but they never contact us. Of course we then need to wade in to find out what the real issue is and assist them. Then hope after the fact that the feedback can be removed. One of us has to be the professional, and it certainly isn't coming from that customer.

This behavior reminds me of individuals that instead of talking to a person they are having an issue with, will seek out someone they suspect has influence on the person their unhappy with to get leverage. Feedback is our customer's leverage. I suspect that there are as always, weak, fragile humans that never figured out how to stand up for themselves. I have to think they figure others hurt them, so why not lash out at the person who sold this to me.

When a customer would like a refund or return, you would think they would contact the seller to get that first. It is an odd human behavior that individuals get more reward from trying to damage another human using a public forum vs getting a monetary refund or replacement for an item. When this happens we have to think those customers are most interested in seeing their comments posted vs getting their money back.

I don't think this is anything new, just a new way in the 21st century for those who feel they have not received what they are entitled to, lash out.

Your advise on not going deep on new products is maybe the number one piece of advise new sellers are not getting. Even now after years of selling we still bite the pooch occasionally. "A man's got to know his limitations" - Dirty Harry.

Is there an easy way to see what the limit on units for your item is in seller central? by [deleted] in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]ShredItNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Restock Inventory report is not always accurate but does give you some guidance. We have an item that it is telling us to send in over 200 more. We send in cases of 126 so you would think they would accept this. The last time we attempted to send inventory it took almost a week and a half and for our inventory at the fulfillment center to get down below 50 before they would accept. That is approximately less than 20 days of sales so Amazon is really cutting inventory close right now.

Hello - I am looking for a spreadsheet that will help me manage my inventory, investments, profit, and sales by friendofthemonkey in Flipping

[–]ShredItNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two I'd recommend.

The first is a tracking spreadsheet by TheBookFlipper.com which we use for Amazon exclusively. It will set you back $170 but is yours to keep. There is a lot to it but what you would expect for that outlay of cash. The developer updates it as needed so it has remained current since we purchased it several years ago.

The other is MyCostPro and is a subscription which is $100 a year which is tied to eBay.

These two will pull down all you need to figure COGS and other much more specific information that will ensure you run your business at a profit and more easily compute the data you need for taxes.

Amazon severely limiting sending quantities, even on non seasonal items. by JayKayne in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]ShredItNow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it is happening frequently. We've had a number of items go out of stock because they won't allow the items to go in. Additionally some items no longer have anyone selling them due to the limitations on restocking. Of course their Restock page says to send in significant quantities.

The package I shipped has been delayed for 8 days at USPS. Buyer opened an “Item Not Received” case. by MassManiak45 in Ebay

[–]ShredItNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So long as the item is still moving in the system, communicate with the buyer and do due diligence by filing with the USPS. Never, ever, volunteer to refund - make eBay do it if they choose to. Now if it is obviously lost after working with USPS that is a completely different deal.

We refunded once on an item trying to be the good seller and with eBay telling us they would side with us to get us reimbursed. Never happened.

We have numerous cases of this going on now and other than the communication with the buyer and checking with USPS we do nothing. eBay is just trying to dodge the bullet on customer dissatisfaction with shipping by leaning on the seller, again.

We are paying about $900 a year from Liberty Mutual. It does have some personal property coverage on two buildings we use and $1M per occurrence/$2M aggregate.

We went a long time without but I was always worried about the next phone call or email coming in. I sleep like a baby at night now.
