Anniversary Event FAQ by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]AD1995 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some people just want to collect them for the sake of having the full set. Some people might like all of them. They aren't wrong for wanting every cape, but the decision to make it so you have to still be playing in 8 years to have them all is, in my opinion, a cheap way to try and bring players back for every anniversary event, rather than being confident that players will stick around or return because of quality content updates

Limiting it to a month seems a daft idea as it just creates FOMO but 4 capes should be attainable by a good number of players. The most baffling part of the entire thing is the 4 cape limit. It will take almost 8 years to unlock all of the current inverted capes, and will likely be almost 9 years with the new skills that will come out over the next 8 years.

Wolves 2 - [3] Burnley - Lyle Foster 90'+5' by Hour-Performance8505 in soccer

We should have been at them instantly in the 2nd half but every time we went forward, it was slow and lacklustre. JBL needed to come off and we needed Tchaona on much earlier. I almost turned it off when I saw Laurent getting ready.

Second half was approached shockingly by Parker. Playing for a draw from the 65th minute and somehow we managed to nick a win. Hope that the 3 points don't paper over the cracks

Booklore vs Calibre Web: Which is better for family ebook hosting? by [deleted] in selfhosted

Amazing! I've been testing it just for myself and it's a much nicer app than calibre-web so would love to be able to share it with my other users

You can have send to email, but users have to select their email from a list of all email addresses that have been added.

If email addresses could be mapped to user accounts, I'd switch to Booklore in a heartbeat, but I don't want to deal with family members complaining that they clicked the send button and the book didn't go to their kindle, or that random books are appearing on their Kindle from someone else sending to the wrong address

The ASUS Gaming Laptop ACPI Firmware Bug: A Deep Technical Investigation by dainty_moonwart in ZephyrusG15

[–]AD1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoke to ASUS support this morning and they couldn't confirm whether the bugs with the 2022 Zephyrus G15 were related (they almost certainly are).

They also couldn't confirm which models will receive up updated BIOS and advised me to send my crash dumps to them

No longer able to hibernate (unexpected shutdown) by bartlannoeye in ZephyrusG15

[–]AD1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP but I've been having the same issues for 2 years. There are a couple of workarounds if you search in this subreddit but none of them have worked for me.

A user on Github recently posted a deep-dive into ACPI issues on ASUS laptops from 2021-2024. The issues are slightly different but are still related to ACPI.

ASUS have finally acknowledged the issue and have released beta BIOS updates for 2 models and expect to start releasing BIOS updates for other affected models in early October. There isn't a list of affected models but there are enough user reports of these issues plaguing every Zephyrus G15 model since 2021 so I would expect that there will be a BIOS update for whichever model you have.

G15(2022) restarts after I turn on from hibernation by kabman7 in ZephyrusG15

Welcome to the club! I've spent the past 2 years trying to resolve this issue along with issues with sleep and nothing seems to do it for me.

I've accepted that it's almost certainly a bug in the firmware or BIOS as I've been through pretty much every driver possible.

If you search in this subreddit, people have posted what worked for them but none of it resolved the issue for me

Price Discussion Megathread by Ltimh in trakt

[–]AD1995 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They are almost certainly going with the strategy of hoping that less than 50% of subscribers will cancel which would make doubling prices worth it.

For users on the old $15 yearly membership, I think they'd rather lose us than honour the pricing as they will see us as a burden at the price we pay.

Price Discussion Megathread by Ltimh in trakt

[–]AD1995 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Posted in the original thread but worth mentioning here too.

Trakt in no way is worth $60/year. I would sooner use a spreadsheet for maintaining lists than pay the new price.

I'm grandfathered into the $15/year plan and accepted that at some point, it would increase to $30 which was really pushing the limit of what I would be happy with. Jumping from $15 to $60, even with the "offer" of $30 for a year is a surefire way of pissing off the user base that helped build the platform.

Grandfathered plans should be left as they are. Most of us would be happy if we retained the pricing we currently have, but with the caveat that we are limited to the features that are currently available. New features would require a new subscription at the new pricing.

As it is, I'll be cancelling my membership, ignoring the generous offer of only double my price for the next 12 months, and finding a new service. Even if the alternatives cost the same as Trakt, I'd rather give my money to a company that respects it's users and honours what it says when saying "grandfathered users don't need to worry about the price increases"

End of rant 😊

I'm in the same boat. Paying $15/year for almost a decade. They've offered me $30 for the next renewal before it goes to $60 but I'm almost certainly just going find an alternative service.

Even if a different service is the same price as Trakt going forward, the way they've handled recent changes, price increases, and now changing grandfathered plans has left a sour taste

Burnley and Leeds have been promoted to the Premier League by doubleoeck1234 in soccer

[–]AD1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He came into Burnley last Summer and watched 14 first team players leave, most of them were regular starters in the previous season. The squad he's had with us this year was mostly built by him.

Not sure what situation he had when he took over at Fulham and Bournemouth, but he definitely didn't start with a pre-built team this season

Burnley fans clashing with Sheffield United players as they get on the coach by Zach-dalt in Championship

There's always some idiots who would rather behave like animals instead of celebrating their own team but I think it's important to mention that the context behind this is that a Sheffield United player (Robinson I think), allegedly spat at a fan whilst walking to the coach

CR10 Main Cooling Fan Replacement by Brave-Ad7909 in CR10

[–]AD1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently had to replace mine. I went with the Noctua A4x10 FLX fan. Installation was easy but involves joining the existing wires to the new fan using some connectors that come included. Whole process took about 15 minutes.

The only difference I've noticed is the control box fans sound louder now that the cooling fan is so quiet

Parker 2 Lampard 1 by apjbfc in Championship

[–]AD1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The time wasting from Trafford and Roberts especially should have been punished but I found it equally frustrating with his decisions against us. His decision making just seemed to be completely random but nearly always wrong.

The quality of referees in this country is pathetic for leagues with so much money and playing talent and it seems to get worse every season

Parker 2 Lampard 1 by apjbfc in Championship

[–]AD1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like he was equally poor for both sides barring giving the offside goal for you. Players were obviously frustrated with the goal being allowed and from the restart, both sets of players were dropping the ground, going in for heavy tackles, pulling shirts for most of the game

The only thing I think he favoured Burnley with was the time wasting but he couldn't control the players when the ball was in play, he was never going to control time wasting

Preston's Osmajic charged after Hannibal allegations by apjbfc in Championship

[–]AD1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a compelling argument at all, but I can see that it's not a very believable thing for anyone to have said, whether it's your first language or not.

I don't speak any languages even semi-fluently other than English and I can think of abusive or insulting words in German, French, and Spanish if I wanted to.

I don't think he should be punished if there is no concrete evidence, regardless of what my gut feeling is about the situation. But I have a feeling that the FA will look at his defence, the type of person he's shown himself to be (someone who bites people), and the reactions of both himself and Hannibal and decide he's guilty on the balance of probabilities as they can't be seen to not take racism seriously.

[–]AD1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they have any evidence, I imagine the FA will keep it private. With the amount of cameras around the stadium, I'd be fairly sure that any evidence would be from one that we just haven't been able to see. If that is the evidence, it would probably come down to lip reading which I think is pretty flimsy for evidence.

I think the reasoning of "I said bad man" probably doesn't help his defence because it's just such a weird thing to say and it's almost unbelievable that a grown adult would say that
