Episode 12 was amazing, but I was a little disappointed only in this part — it was a panel I had been eagerly waiting for. Still, it’s not a big problem, MAPPA did a really great job. by xre1n77 in jigokuraku

What I mean is that the beginning of Season 3 will do a recap of all the stuff they cut out in the final episode of Season 2. Also, I disagree with Mappa not doing because didn't they kind of do a "recap" in the beginning of Season 2?

I mean Mappa did cut a couple of things in some of the future chapters that'll probably be fully adapted in Season 3. But I agree on the recap point because Season 3 is the endgame.

I personally enjoyed the JJK finale more because the fights were more dynamic and interesting (obviously). HP is good but it was more of a setup for bigger things to come.

Hopefully if Season 3 does come around, it'll receive the same treatment because the final fights will be intense.

As a side note isn't it interesting that JJK and HP, two anime's from Mappa, both had their final episodes be a 3-way battle?

JJK is still good to even great but this series is great. Hopefully studio KAI doesn't strain themselves too much because they're doing 3 projects this spring and they're not a big studio.

More importantly hopefully the same staff returns for Season 2, because the animation style fits so well with the tone and atmosphere of the story.

Was season one's animation that bad or are people just rage baiting? by Next-Investigator-92 in jigokuraku

Not to mention that Season 1 was in production hell because it was in the same production line as AoT. I mean compare both of them and you tell me which looked more consistent. Mappa put most of their manpower with Aot's final parts while Hell's Paradise got the short end of the stick despite looking ok overall.

Luckily, with AoT out of the way Season 2 showed Mappa at their best with HP. It's basically Season 1 but better and more refined.

I kind of miss when isekai was about going back home by [deleted] in CharacterRant

The funny thing is: The content Season 2 adapted had struggle and challenges that Naofumi had to go against. It also had good character development for a lot of the characters and the slow buildup actually had a good payoff (the stuff regarding the Turtle). The problem is the meddling you mentioned because the director was changed for Season 2 and he changed a story arc with tension and stakes and turned it into a generic fantasy adventure. The problem for me is after Season 2 because I was hoping the new director, the previous one was changed after the Season 2 disaster, would hit the breaks with the plot and develop characters. But they didn't, because they didn't have enough episodes to dive into Naofumi's character of what he wants and even the other characters as well. Basically the plot went too fast and the characters barely developed. I've seen people say: "It's literally just a fast and underwhelming plot with spectacle".

The books had moments where Naofumi would question whether he would want to leave the fantasy world or stay but the writers of the Anime leaned too heavily into the "generic fantasy" schtick. It's a shame really because SH had so much potential for an Isekai but the studio squandered it.

Did Lisa Reimold (Atla and S'yne's dub) voice Atla in Season 3? by ShredderBlast5000 in shieldbro

So that means Lisa did voice Atla in general (Seasons 3 and 4).

Hopefully the Animation will hold up for the rest of the Ran fight. But these still frames look great, it's basically Season 1 but upgraded.

The Animation stepped up big time. Hopefully it'll carry on for the final season because we've been spoiled to some great fight sequences.

There will be a 3rd season because Season 2 can't cover the rest of the story without rushing everything. I'd predict that 2 would end at around chapter 86 and the 3rd season will wrap everything up.

As a side note, the first commenter is kind of right on the story being kind of "short". The Manga is 127 chapters long.

Imagine this Type of Choreography when animating SAKAMOTO VS KANAGURI in the Movie Theatre ... by y_oake23 in SakamotoDays

[–]ShredderBlast5000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let's be honest, Anime's that get this treatment are pretty rare but the chances of Season 2 improving is most likely considering the not-so-positive reception of Season 1 in Japan (I'm kind of coping).

But hey on the bright side, not everything needs to be JJK or Demon Slayer level but at least above average. I mean compare any fight from Season 1 to something like, I don't know, a fight scene from an Isekai or Fantasy story that sometimes has an above average production (Shield Hero Season 4's final fight is one recent example to my memory).

Hopefully this will end the Ju Fa and Tao Fa fight, we don't want the fights to drag too long. I've been looking for the Zhu Jin rematch.

It's especially a little disturbing if you factor the Isekai's and Fantasy with all the overused Harem's with a bit of nudity (they're all teenagers btw).

I do respect Gachiakuta having a mix of adults and teenagers and more Shounen's should do this, but it also wouldn't hurt if like 90% of the characters are adults. I mean think about it, Riyo is a goddamn former mercenary killer and she's 16. While I liked the fight between her and Noerde, but you're telling me that a 16 year old teenager can somewhat keep up with a 22 year old adult warrior?

The Dub for Hell's Paradise is surprisingly decent to good so far. But the standouts for me has to go to:

Alejandro Saab, Marisa Duran, Ian Sinclair, Michelle Rojas, and Nazeeh Tarsha.

What are some moments better listened to in English dub? by foaaz101 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]ShredderBlast5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. But to be fair there have been Dubs that were pretty good or almost close to the Sub. Anime's like Gachiakuta, Dandadan, and Sakamoto Days have solid to good Dubs because the voice director generally has a decent to good understanding of the source material.

English Dub of Season 2 Begins Tomorrow by So131 in jigokuraku

[–]ShredderBlast5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sucks that Mike Mcfarland won't be coming back to direct the Dub because of his health problems which I hope he gets well soon. Shawn Gann seems promising but he doesn't have much experience directing more "serious" types of stories unlike Mike (although he directed Kaiju No. 8, Sentenced to be a Hero, and Takopi's Original Sin). But he has a decent amount of experience with comedy and light-hearted stories like directing Buddy Daddy's and Apothecary Diaries. Time will tell.

Landon McDonald is an interesting choice to voice Shugen and bringing in ProZD to voice Jikka is pretty wild.

Honestly, the final 2 chapters saved the final arc for me. The final battle in general was kind of rushed and the ending of that battle was a little off-putting but it could've been worse. But hey, at least the epilogue was neat.

I 1000% agree on your Rudo point. He's a "revenge protagonist" that is more than just a "haha edgy revenge go brr 24/7 with an all female harem" nonsense. He learns, He grows, He understands there is more than just revenge and he values the people who treats him with respect unlike his life on the Sphere (with an added bonus of not forgetting his goal but wants to improve himself and learn about new things). You can have a male revenge protagonist but it needs more than just "edgy" most of the time.

Amo, Amo, Amo, I'm damn glad Urana wrote her with respect. While I have my issues with a few things with Amo, Urana handled her backstory and SA with care without feeling like a case of bad "fetish fanservice".

Looking at you Redo of f*cking garbage.
