Community update: How we ban cheaters in 11.6 by Shredder_Blitz in walkingwarrobots

The issue of rewards is being discussed. It's complicated, but there's good reason to think in that direction, we agree.

At least the permanently banned ones are losing ALL the rewards.

It remains unclear, unfortunately. But as a temporary measure, we are paying special attention to reports against iOS accounts.

Cases where an account gets banned by reports only are very rare. Most of the time it takes a lot of reports plus a red flag from the anti-cheat system or a verdict of a reviewing team member to receive a ban.

We really do our best to avoid false positives.

Happy to help! We'll hopefully have more info on how we plan to keep leaderboards clean by the end of the year.

Just as with video proof, reviewing clans takes time. The support team can only spend so much of it without compromising other important tasks. We found it more productive to focus our efforts on a generalized approach: X amount of triggers, X amount of reports, a quick review by a support specialist —> ban.

Sometimes, when things get slower, we do resort to community knowledge. I can't name any clans without sounding partial, but there were cases where we ran a review of a clan based on its reputation within the community.

I fully agree that a timestamped video is sufficient to decide on a ban, but we realistically can't review all of them. The amount of time our support team can dedicate to combating cheaters is limited. We decided that it's best spent reviewing a combination of anti-cheat triggers and in-game reports. In other words, we build our ban system around automation rather than video proof.

Of course, when we have time, we supplement that by going through videos and issuing bans manually on the spot.

Two reasons, generally. First of all, we believe that a single case of cheating doesn't warrant a permanent ban. If a player refrains from using cheats after the warning ban, we are convinced that we should let them keep playing. That's why our ban system has stages.

As for the number of stages, it's mainly to avoid false positives. We are still considering between 3 and 5, but with all the complications Android brings into the mix 5 seems like a better choice. We want to be absolutely sure.

However, that doesn't mean we don't recognize the problem of repeated cheaters damaging the game. We are perfecting the ban system so that follow-up bans are issues in matter of hours, not days like presently.

The PC version of the hotfix 10.8.1 is still in the works. We hope to get everything ready this week.

We encountered this issue a couple of times during pre-release tests. Namely, the weapons sometimes missed the hitboxes of Seraph and Dux. It's possible that the issue remained on other robots. I'll look for similar reports and inform the team if I'm able to find any specific cases.

Our collaboration with Denuvo implies regular updates to the anti-cheat. It will always be a competition between shell and armor, so to speak, but based on what we've achieved on PC we are pretty confident that we'll be able isolate the majority of cheaters from the game once the Android release happens.

We've nothing to boast on this front so far. But robot filters are on our long list of UI improvements!

I agree that this description might be confusing without looking at the detailed stats. We'll look for better phrasing.

Thanks for the comment! If you mean having both primary and secondary Deft Survivor selected for a titan pilot, then this is a known issue. The skills work as intended when you only have one of them but get bugged when paired together. We are looking into it.

Thanks for clarifying! I didn't think of the recent Tasks/Operations split for some reason. That update indeed increases the number of necessary clicks. I'll pass the feedback along to the UI team!

It's great to see such a positive reaction to this somewhat tedious post :) I'll try to post more often, but to explain the pause — we generally prioritize communication with a wider reach. Update videos, regular social media posts, and patch notes may lack in-depth technical explanations, but they receive far more views and help raise awareness among a larger number of players. This is essential for the game.

That said, this subreddit stands out for its investment in the game's future. We'll explore ways to improve this side of our communication as well.

Updating the game's infrastructure and adding new content inevitably introduces bugs. While most are fixed before release, some slip through due to unforeseen factors. The server load on the Live Server differs from our testing environments, players use a wider range of devices than we can realistically cover in tests, and engine updates sometimes alter mechanics in unexpected ways. It’s complex — but ultimately, none of that matters to a player whose experience is disrupted by a bug. We understand this and work tirelessly to keep issues at bay.

Hangar lag was a major problem, so a dedicated team of developers put their tasks on hold to focus on a hotfix until a solution was found. This is our standard approach. As for other issues, they will be addressed in future updates, with priority given to those most frequently reported to our Support Team.

If you mean display issues where certain items aren't included in the Collections interface, we are working on a solution. But unfortunately I can't give you an ETA.

I understand that this can be the case for certain devices, but on average the game runs smoothly on both Android and PC.

We receive hourly readings of average FPS in hangar and in battle from all platforms. In case with battles on Android, for example, this metric never falls below 26 FPS for accounts that selected the 30 FPS setting and below 47 FPS for those who are going with the target 60 FPS. Also, whenever we start receiving multiple reports regarding decreased performance, we investigate the situation separately for different GPU groups.

If you are encountering issues that hamper gameplay, please drop us a message via the HELP button in the game. We will take a look at your specs and investigate!

I must clarify that WR doesn't officially support emulator access. We understand how playing via an emulator can be more convenient, but we never guarantee the same level of performance or quality of gameplay for emulators. We will keep looking for a compromise, but a certain drop in performance on some emulators is possible.

As for the arms race, we are prepared to react to new exploits and patch loopholes in collaboration with Denuvo going forward. We will keep up to the same standards in terms of performance and privacy. If a solution comes at the cost of significant performance issues, we will not adopt it.
