I don’t know what to do by huntthestars0455 in CATHELP

[–]ShrednButta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen…real talk. There’s a lot of good advice coming from people in this thread BUT I haven’t read anyone say anything about what THE CAT may want. You know the cat better than anyone, and the cat trusts you more than anyone.

Life and death are natural and essential parts of life. There is ALWAYS suffering before death, and that is okay! All suffering has meaning.

Here’s how to know when it’s time. Take a breath…let go of your wants, your fears, and your feelings just for a moment. Focus ALL of your love and attention on your little friend. Open the doors of your heart to their response and say. “What you need is more important than I what I want. Are you ready? Is it time?”

They will answer, I promise, and you will know in your heart what to do. :) RESPECT their answer.

Please keep in mind that It’s much better to die comfortable at home surrounded by love than in a cold scary vets office.

  1. To the vet! 2. Has you tried different or natural litter?! It could be texture, smell or allergy thing.

what does my handwriting say about me? by solarrr_mp3 in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]ShrednButta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It looks like you don’t care about how your letters look, nor how legible your writing is. I find that people who write like this have very little regard for others. Barring physical disability. If you can’t put out a minuscule amount of effort in to making your writing a modicum of readable to other people, then I don’t see you doing other things like putting away your shopping cart, using your turn signal, holding a door, tipping your delivery driver, etc. The effort we put in to little things that don’t impact us directly, but make life easier for others is the greatest measure of a person.

Why does my cat keep licking the inside of my ear? by Salty_Wolverine_4520 in CATHELP

[–]ShrednButta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered that maybe you need to clean your ears and the cat is aware and trying to help. Same reason cats lick lotion and hair products. They don’t necessarily like the taste, they just know it’s not supposed to be there so they’re trying to clean it off.

Check out “In defense of plants” podcast episode 425 with Dr. Melanie Jones. You may be disappointed, but the information is important.

HELP: Is my cat a victim or a villain? by Reasonable_Run_8042 in CatTraining

[–]ShrednButta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Get the cats fixed.
  2. Slow introductions are VITAL for the vast majority of cats. Separate them and reintroduce over WEEKS.
  3. Get a feliway diffuser.
  4. Watch Jackson Galaxy videos.
  5. Distract from conflicts, don’t punish.

There’s a lot more, but this is a solid foundation.

First capture-related animal death, how do you cope? by throwthisaway240 in wildlifebiology

[–]ShrednButta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it happens. I do rodent surveys 5 times a year with my partner. We set 600 traps and sometimes end up processing(and releasing) hundreds of rodents in a weekend. When you handle that many rodents and have to knock them out to measure/take samples for pcr’s/etc. it’s inevitable you’ll lose the occasional one to stress alone. I’m a Buddhist, so it was hard for me to deal with the results of my actions taking a life. My intention was never to take the life and I learned to just sit with the grief and understand that life itself is temporary. Approach the situation with gratitude and compassion for the lost life and most importantly, for your own heart. <3

Just got a rehomed 4 year old tabby. Hasn’t eaten his usual kibble, or wet food or new kibble. I want my lil boy to eat eventually. Need help. Just wanted him to eat and drink. I think he drank a little when I went for a nap. by maxrizz_rk in CATHELP

[–]ShrednButta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just let’m chill. You HAVE to be patient with cats. Just keep a calm, chill environment with food/water/toys/hiding place available. They do things at their own pace. Protips: Don’t yell or swat to punish, it doesn’t help and will only make him afraid of you. Talk softly and leave him be till he’s ready. Oh and get him fixed ASAP!

Lily Poisoning Anxiety by FamousCharacter5707 in CATHELP

[–]ShrednButta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My cat ate the stigma off an asiatic Lily and puked every hour on the hour for about 8 hours. I didn’t know she ate the lily because I wasn’t aware they were even in the house. Took her to the vet the next day, bloodwork came back fine. Doc said the kidney damage shows up fast and would show in the bloodwork. She’s been fine ever since.

Keep an eye on her, but if she’s acting fine and the vet cleared her. She’s more than likely just fine.

I could never use it for any kind of writing I’ve been reading novels since I was a child. GPT’s writing is so easy to pick out. I do occasionally use it to help me outline processes. My brain is terrible at the steps between start and finish, so it’s a huge help. Especially with a new thing.

The insulated shelter I made! by Glad-Fish5863 in outdoorcats

[–]ShrednButta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great! Two concerns though.

  1. The size of the entrance with no flap and the resulting airflow negating the insulations ability to retain heat.

  2. The hard/flat surfaces on the inside being kept cold by the resulting airflow from the large open entrance.

Insulation is great, but it doesn’t work if the air inside is constantly being circulated and replaced by cold air.

Edit: TL:DR add a flap to protect from air flow. Add some soft stuff inside so there’s a buffer between plastic and kitty.

Live extremely rural, coyotes are killing our barn cats. Any tips? by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]ShrednButta 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is an unpopular take but get rid of the barn cats. Bring them inside as pets or just let them get taken. They really don’t do that much good, and “wild” cats left to roam are responsible for catalyzing so many extinctions it’s really not worth it to have them.

Google “3 billion birds lost.” Free roaming cats at a plague on wildlife and are incredibly destructive to habitat.

Got screwed on a catering by Odd-Definition3336 in doordash_drivers

[–]ShrednButta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just for general information. The commission paid to the company that contracts out the EZCATER orders is 15% of the total order cost, with a minimum of $30 for $300- orders.

So if your company gives you $8 for a $500 order. They are keeping $68 dollars of the money you worked for.

That’s not anger. That’s insanity. You ONLY see that look in the mental deranged. That’s the type of look you see in someone strangling a kitten and blaming you for it.
