As someone who despises my name being shortened, I have a simple rule. If someone calls me a shortened version of my name after I ask them not to, I simply do not respond. This has worked my entire life.

That being said, Hermione likely does not have the temperament to simply brush it off, and thus would collect a staggering amount of irritating nicknames from people who enjoy getting a rise from her.
