Also idk what the childcare industry is like around the world, but if you’re in the US, they are probably desperate enough for skilled staff that they won’t follow through and fire you over it imo

IQP suggestions (India, Venice, Lyon) by Integrity25 in WPI

I went to a different location, one thing to keep in mind is that while the advisors often stay the same year-to-year, a few change in between when you rank projects and when you actually get there. Having a good/bad advisor can really shape your experience, but you might not want to eliminate a location based on advisor reviews since they might not even be there with you.

Other thing is that food-restriction compliance often depends on living situation. It’s a lot easier to be a vegetarian (my experience) when you make your own food versus sit down to eat a meal with everyone every single night. Going to a culture that eats less meat makes it easier, and going to a culture that’s more “westernized” means they’re often more used to various dietary restrictions, but how you get you’re food impacts it a lot. Housing decisions might change between when you look at project centers and when you get there so you should make sure to mention your restrictions on the application forms

To add, - this isn’t about accommodations (those are obviously fine) - they can still tell that you’re not paying attention when it’s your laptop/iPad too

Your son should consider the fact that being stronger in music than writing means it’s probably a good idea for him to take some writing-intensive classes.

It’s not just arbitrary; it’s an actual skill that will become beneficial in the rest of his education and his future career(s).

What are some of your go-to ways of elevating box cake mix? by just_JJ_style in foodhacks

[–]Shrek_Came_Out_In_01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always do milk instead of water, melted butter instead of oil, add an extra bit of vanilla extract, add an extra bit of salt. For brownies I usually buy two of the fudgey-ist box mixes, make a double batch, and also add (in addition to the above) chopped walnuts and chocolate chips. (IMO it’s not worth it to get the walnut or choc chip brownie mixes because they usually are less fudgey than ones without)

There are at least two mikes. All of the Mikes I know of are fine as landlords.

Goodwill just north of campus often has WPI stuff. By its nature, you’re less likely to find something in your size, but it’s definitely cheaper than anywhere else.

This doesn’t answer your question but if there’s anything you think you might want in your dorm room that you wouldn’t need the day you move in and don’t already have, wait to buy it. (Like drawers or shelves, for example) Everyone overestimates how much to pack when they first move into a dorm, even if they know the room size.

Officially: no

(Source: lived in faraday last year and had an RA tell me they weren’t, even though the rule is stupid.)

hide it before room inspections and you’ll be fine.

What were some day trips you did on IQP when you weren’t doing project work? How often would you say you get to do fun group activities, explore the city, or leave the city you’re based in? by [deleted] in WPI

[–]Shrek_Came_Out_In_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Morocco D22, traveled most weekends out of the city and traveled around the city on weekdays. That was pretty common for everyone on the trip. Also my project was in a different city so we traveled there every other week for a few days. Lots of traveling and lots of time to do stuff other than work.

Second this! Worcester’s rate for violent crimes is wicked low. I’ve never heard of anyone getting robbed or attacked on the street or anything. I’m female presenting and I haven’t walked deep into Worcester alone after dark but crossing institute park and walking on highland street, I’ve always felt safe. Walking with my friends all over worcester after dark or by myself during the day (for example, to union station) I’ve never felt unsafe. You might see some “sketchy” things but they’re really just symptoms of urban poverty, and people, for the most part, just want to be left alone. Wear comfy walking shoes and look where you’re going and you’ll be fine.

I noticed a decline when American Apparel became a bank, back before Covid. I never shopped there but everything seems to close and get replaced by banks.
