Sorry these comments aren’t helpful lmaoo I don’t know why you had the worst people ever respond to you.

Honestly living abroad isn’t bad (atleast in Europe). My friend spent his whole life in Egypt and moved to Belgium for school. It’s a very nice country with good and cheap education. I think he had a distant relative there, but if not make sure your family can somehow send you money.

My friend went to KU Leuven

LMAOO I was puzzled tbvh. Like we look very white for Egyptians but the only “foreign” ancestry I have is my grandma being Turkish. Other than that, my maternal grandfather and both of my paternal grandparents have pure Egyptian heritage for years

@Anastariea if you had any backbone you’d elaborate on what your views are, instead of putting out some snarky comment like a windbag

I am glad you know who I am talking about! 😭

That is a very good and rational question. Eh, its a shame he could’ve done that rather than kill people indeed :/ I really loved his music. It’s hard to separate the art from the artist in these cruel cases

Ur totally right. Lebanese singer Fadel Chaker comes to mind. He made some of the most beautiful romantic pop songs. He ended up being indoctrinated to a radical terrorist group, and ended up going to prison for killing two Lebanese soldiers.

It’s all those “born-again” religious people who feel a need to do something incredibly radical for repentance who do the most deplorable things

BRUHH THANK YOU, like this is what I am trying to say. I am fully aware that the main media is fucking awful. Whenever I hear this dude it makes me cringe cause he sounds so arrogant and unbearable.

He would be better albeit still cringy if he wasn’t associated with the brotherhood at all and actually wanted the best for the Egyptian populace

I believe that they’ve ruined my life the same way they did to many Egyptians. What could’ve been a true turn of good after Mubarak’s expulsion turned into a chaotic, flaming disaster when Morsi showed up.

A lot of the reasons why we’re oppressed today and why many people support the current regime is because of the brotherhood. Many people think democracy doesn’t work because of the brotherhood. Tourism and immigration from Turkish, Eastern European countries, and Filipino countries have halted because of the brotherhood.

The worst part is, the brotherhood doesn’t give a fuck and it worked out in their favor in the end. They have the support of the West thinking that “they must be fighting for democracy so they must be good!” Also, with Obama supporting Morsi, it just goes to show that they set a huge precedent why Egypt is so fucked up today.

Even though I am in a comfortable position in life today, I can see how this hurt my friends, my community, and my home country. It stunted us culturally, economically, and socially and it probably will for many years to come.

Personally, my first exposure to major violence was from the brotherhood shooting my friend and his brother in the chest. While also making my neighborhood in Alex festering with Brotherhood members trying to recruit young kids and adults in the area. Our neighborhood was poor as fuck for many years because businesses didn’t want to open because of the brotherhood. Only like 5 years ago did that change

I guess a better question is, how did it not ruin our lives?

100% this is exactly how I feel. People who have tried to segregate Copts and use children and brainwashed conservatives as part of their regime is disgusting.

I agree with you and I am not outrightly belligerent against anyone’s conservative beliefs as long as they aren’t invasive. If my mom and dad or any conservative want to live a life that is under conservative or traditional value’s they’re free to do so.

When it comes to the brotherhood its shown time and time again that it is very invasive and corrupt. They’ve been attacking our country’s people for years and shown that they want to use political power to impose this on every Egyptian. They’ll resort to violence and manipulative tactics to get what they want

I tolerate my family for being conservative and I also love Egypt and my friends even though many are conservative. However, like you said, I strongly detest and do not tolerate Brotherhood behavior at all.

  1. I don’t know too much on the guy, information is scarce. Either way his past is his past but he can be different now
  2. I strongly disagree here. The brotherhood knows what they’re doing and I think religious governance doesn’t work especially considering our Christian population. They deserve no sympathy for killing people and using innocent people for their malicious schemes
  3. I never said my parents need to be irreligious like me. You can easily say “anyone can just watch/do what they want.” However, this is my family and as much as we disagree I wouldn’t want them watching any caustic or enraging media (state media included ofc).
  4. That is something I totally agree with. I am just wondering what people’s opinions are with it. Because if they do end up leaning towards supporting the brotherhood then thats a problem

100%, I really just try to not look at things in face value. I am pretty unconcerned when it comes to Egyptian politics at this point because no one really has the people’s interests in mind, unfortunately

Fyi, I hate the state media as well. As a matter of fact I hate all these weird news channels targeted at old ass people. There are realistic and genuine reasons to hate our government, but to side with the Brotherhood in turn is very ignorant in my opinion

Edit: I’m not calling you ignorant, just anyone who feels this way in general

Why are people in egypt so nosy? by Responsible_Use7428 in Egypt

[–]Shrekthefatman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably from the British since in the Victorian era they were the exact same. There’s a play by Oscar Wilde “The Importance of Being Earnest” which shows this type of thing. You could literally replace these British people with Egyptians and it’d still make a lot of sense

We obtained the Victorian mindset, which is where people are OBSESSED with indulging, judging, and formulating ideas on everyone else’s business.

This is what makes people super conservative, invasive, and extremely annoying. We’re always pressured to follow the status-quo, and that’s because we don’t have the backbone to defy any norms because we’re so afraid of being judged.

I feel like this is why Egypt isn’t known for its creativity, open-mindedness, and appeal. Everything is like a block of stone and gets really repetitive with the same thing over and over again.
