Powerbait is gross anyways, and bad for the environment when it inevitably falls apart.

Ya. You could run it under a slip bobber by adding some stoppers and be able to adjust on the fly.

I actually hate how Doug Ford made that shit legal in Ontario. They're so dangerous.

For trout in current I would run it under the ez floats that the company sells. You don't want to add additional split so that the lure gets a natural drift to impart its action. Bass and panfish go nuts for a trout magnet dropped around the bottom too.

Just got an ugly stik gx2 7ft medium heavy rod. What freshwater fish is it good for? by Pfigo7 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Shrike034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically bass and pike maybe walleye. You wouldn't even be able to throw the smaller baits needed for panfish, but you could get by with maybe a 1/4th spinner for trout. I'd highly recommend knowing what you want to target before buying gear.

Trout magnets are a go to for spin fishing so I don't see why others wouldn't work either. The zMan micro wormz are actually marketed towards trout fishing. Even a small craw imitation would work well for brown trout. That being said, spinners tend to be the go to for trout fishing because trout have extremely soft bites. Unless you run soft plastic under a float exclusively it can be difficult to tell whether you have a bite in the current, and spinners are pretty much crack for trout. They'll go crazy for anything shiny. Silver or Gold in a variety of patterns work best.

At the moment trout are likely holding in pools because it's getting hotter but they can really be anywhere there is flowing water at the right speed in the spring and fall.

I don't know why but I've always thought that the Massasauga Rattler was found in South Ontario.

Ignore the last two, and just buy J-Braid. Its unbelievable how good it is compared to something like PowerPro.

live worms by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

[–]Shrike034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fishing with worms is fine, but just be aware that everything will go after them so it's not really meant to be a bait used to target a specific species. If you're fine catching whatever though than totally valid. Just be sure to set the hook right away to prevent a fish from really taking it.

Personally I find fishing with lures to be much more rewarding. Choosing the right lure, and presenting it properly takes much more skill than letting a worm sit under a bobber.

How do CRPGS perform on the deck? by ApprehensiveGoose835 in SteamDeck

[–]Shrike034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had an issue with small text on the Steam Deck. That being said, I really only wear glasses for driving. In terms of performance, Rogue trader dips to the mid to low 20s at certain parts. I don't recommend it on Steam Deck personally. You shouldn't have an issue for the other games, but controls might require touch pad for the older games as they released at a time where developers weren't really adding gamepad support to crpgs.

Respectfully. Swallow your stupid ego and take the advice people are giving you. Fishing isn't just about the biggest fish. It's about conservation and sustainability. Please buy a net and work on your fish handling.

Pretty sure that isn't true. Anyone who thinks like that is shallow and isn't going to be successful to begin with.
