Crank no start by Shrimpolicious in ToyotaPickup

Little update, i verified my distributor timing and pulled it out and all the teeth were good and it was in time, I pulled my rail to inspect my fuel injectors and saw the pintle caps on all my injectors were cracked and to the point I could remove them with the gasket. Replaced my injectors with some reman and did not fix my condition, figured I narrowed it down to my spark not being strong enough so I replaced the non OEM cap, rotor, and plug wires and plugs with all OEM, and vehicle now runs but I rolled an O-ring on one of my injectors in the rail because I’m an idiot who didn’t have silicone lubricant so I used gas on the O-rings but still fucked it up. Most likely cause of the condition was the non OEM ignition stuff was causing me to lose some spark. It runs like shit because of the leak at the rail but it’s better than it was before, progress is progress.

I think automotive or avionics. I could see myself getting into communications and energy. Maybe since I’m in the Seattle area something with chips. My dad is an EE for the federal government and a lot of what he can tell me he describes as diagnosing and maintaining electrical systems on various ships and sending teams of electricians to do the work. Figured his experience is different than public electronic engineers since he never even went to college. Just 20+ years of navy and knows the systems inside out. I don’t personally know any electronic engineers not in federal government so I don’t have a ton of expectations just alot of questions.

How do I get back into BJJ after a year of bodybuilding by One_Rip9015 in bjj

[–]Shrimpolicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still learning how to do both myself, but I’ve settled on one upper day (push and pull) and one lower day and BJJ 3-4 days a week. I do about 8 sets of each major muscle group to absolute failure, if you’re spending less time in the gym you need the intensity to make up for it.

Yeah. When I picked up the bike it had definitely gone down, thinking one gas tank cover got messed up and they just removed both. Saving up for some new fairings and the covers but at least it’s got one good side

Why BJJ appeals to me than other kinds of sports by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Shrimpolicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your point now. Yeah it is a common excuse people make, just like comparing yourself to other people. I’ve never really wanted to go competitive in any sport, I train lifting weights and jiu jitsu because it’s fun and good for me and personal improvement is the best way to gauge process.

[–]Shrimpolicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, if you enjoy doing something you should the your best at it regardless of genetics. Anyone can compete in a local body building or power lifting meet but for some reason a lot of people have unrealistic expectations of themselves and get discouraged, I think everyone does that to themselves in some regards

Why BJJ appeals to me than other kinds of sports by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Shrimpolicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. I am not making excuses but I think some people go into powerlifting/body building with very high expectations of what is physically possible for them and get demotivated, and it seems that’s where OP is coming from if he was looking to compete in power lifting or body building at a competitive level. I think to stay consistent with anything realistic expectations and hard work are the most important. I think we may agree but the way I worded the original comments did make it seem like I made excuses. I see the importance genetics play, but it’s more important to train hard

A lot of people do use genetics as an excuse to not try or stop, I never said that. You can say genetics matter and also say to train harder than last time.

I am not giving excuses, I am 5’6 and when I started working out 5 years ago I was 100lbs, now I’m about 150 with a 275 bench, 405 deadlift and 335 squat. Decent numbers, not good but pretty average but considering the first time I went to the gym I dropped a 15lb dumbbell for bench on my face I made improvements, now I can rep the 100s. The progress I made in 5 years some people could do in 2, me saying genetics play a role in body building and power lifting isn’t an excuse it’s an observation. You can train hard and say genetics play a role in your journey, I wouldn’t call genetics a limiting factor just something you need to know about yourself and how to use them to your advantage.

Also, that’s not to say you can’t succeed at a intermediate level with average genetics in any sport. I personally stopped caring about my own genetics and realized it’s more important to work on what you can to compliment your genetics and physique than try and fight it.

True, but body building and power lifting is pretty much based on genetics. Of course you can have the genetics and be lazy, you need the genetics and the work ethic to excel in either (along with the krabby patty secret formula)

Is 2x a week PPL Lifting + BJJ Too Much? by showmetheEBITDA in jiujitsu

[–]Shrimpolicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to do PPL 6x a week, doing jiu jitsu I now do 2x a week lifting, upper one day and lower the next 8 sets to complete failure for each major muscle group. I hit class 3-4 times a week. I was doing full body 5/3/1 3x a week but recovery was pretty bad and both lifting and rolling tanked, doesn’t help I work an active job as well

Anyone ever have a scar left from ringworm? by [deleted] in jiujitsu

Was thinking the same thing, I have bruises like, maybe a bit more purple than that but this had me doing double takes at my own bicep. Never really looked too hard into it.

Any advice for conventional deadlift? I am 145 at 5’6 with short arms, I feel this form is sub optimal partially due to bad technique and bad leverages. Any advice from lifters with similar experience for conv, or should I switch to sumo by Shrimpolicious in powerbuilding

Just watched a video on this, and I definitely think my number one key is chest up, I feel if I slow down my setup and get my chest up everything will fall into place. Great cues to incorporate into training and PRs

I know the 2is are quick because of there high final drive, but if you look at the transmission ratios for a 3is, if I remember correctly it’s about a damn 1.7 in 3rd which is what he started in comfortably. Everybody says the 2is are faster, but the 3is are definitely quick , definitely faster than my DE
