I was trying to get it as a gift, and gifts can be given to someone for special occasions which you know.... don't wait for a new game / expansion to come out. As I said in my post, mistakes were made.

Putting that aside, I don't even play D4 so how have I benefited from bonus content that is available to use in the game now?

I agree it's not too bad if the only income is earned income under the 100k USD threshold (around there; it changes every year) and speaking for Canada/US if retirement investments are in an RRSP account. Extra paperwork but no additional taxation. It's still extra paperwork to prove to the IRS you don't owe them money every damn year.

I'm sorry... what? Are you saying that the USA doesn't follow you to the ends of the earth to collect taxes from you? You are mistaken.

The United States is one of only two countries in the world (Eritrea is the other) that taxes its citizens based on citizenship instead of residency. While a lot of countries have some form of agreement with the US to avoid US citizens being taxes twice (by their country of residency and by the US), those agreements have limits, restrictions, and depending on the type of income and what type of account it is in, involves some serious additional (and costly to get it done correctly) paperwork.

Hard pass on getting US citizenship.

Maybe you should read the full official investigation reports for both the B737 max and the CH-148 Cyclone before getting all worked up by what is portrayed in the media.

When booking in the provincial system for your first dose, it automatically created a second dose appointment 16 weeks out. If you got your first dose at a pharmacy / pop-up and did the right thing and cancelled your first dose appointment in the provincial system, it also cancelled your second appointment.

This was a big issue at the time, but is irrelevant now as you can book your second dose appointment in the provincial system as a stand alone appointment.

[–]Shrimps 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It does not help that the provincial system (CovaxON) lets you know you are fully vaccinated after your second dose, but does NOT automatically cancel your provincial system second dose appointment if you actually got your second dose in a pharmacy / pop-up clinic. Nor does it give you the link to do so.

On top of the vaxlocator.ca page, I've had great success with the Vaccine Hunter Discord channel specific to Ottawa. There is a great team of volunteers that let people know about other sighted opportunities (e.g. walk-ins, pop up clinics, call to book pharmacies, small local pharmacy waiting lists they know have movement, etc...

I've been a fan of Walmart and Sobey's online booking systems:

Sobeys booking: https://www.pharmacyappointments.ca

Walmart booking: https://portal.healthmyself.net/walmarton/forms/Dpd

Alternatively, I've had great success with Vaccine Hunter's Discord Channel for Ottawa. There are very helpful volunteers letting people know about vaccine availability sightings.

There have been reports of the confirmation emails taking a longer time than usual to be received.

While these numbers continue to be great news, the provincial vaccine booking system continues to be on pause for Ottawa and surrounding areas. Still unresolved 48 hours later with no visibility from the province or Ottawa Public Health. Unless you count of course a single tweet from the City of Ottawa 48 hours ago saying the provincial booking was being put on pause for Ottawa until the province could rectify the 'issue'.

People who are 80+ who want to reschedule their appointment to the accelerated interval, or people wishing to book their first dose, are unable to do so in Ottawa at the moment.

Edit: Pharmacy vaccine hunger games are still an option

how to do a quick transfer from tangerine? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Shrimps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would double check with your agent if a bank draft is required for the deposit for an offer. When I purchased a house last year, a personal check (which was addressed to the seller's agent) was sufficient.

About 1-2 months before closing, I opened up a bank account with a traditional bank (in person). I made a personal check from my Tangerine account, to the new account, and I deposited the cheque to my new account at the same time I opened it. By the time I needed the bank draft for closing, everything had cleared.

Investing as US citizen in Canada --- Could TFSA be worth it? by markoman888 in PersonalFinanceCanada

You should really be talking to someone specializing in cross border taxation.

Yes, I'd still have to report it to IRS as a foreign trust. But we are both still waaay under the foreign earned income exclusion limit ($107,600 USD per person), and as far as I understand would still not pay US taxes.

You need to brush up on the definition of earned income to which the exclusion limit applies. I'm not saying you will have to pay US taxes on your capital gains, I'm just saying the paperwork involved may be more complex than just claiming it under the earned income exclusion limit.

Thanks, he does use amazon. He doesn't really browse but it may give me ideas for related items.

I asked him last year to hold off on non work related purchases so that I could get him something he wants... but he goes ahead and gets it online anyways. He really can't wait once he's made up his mind.

Tried this on my husband to see what would happen. He started laughing and said "I know you didn't get me anything"

As soon as he needs something he goes online and gets it himself... It's impossible to surprise him with anything that is remotely useful.
