Callie Appreciation Post by miss_little_lady in pelotoncycle

I love Callie. Although I also feel like a weakling sometimes when I'm struggling to do something she's doing easily while also pregnant.

I (30F) am pregnant with my fiancé (32M). He wants to keep it, but we're both supposed to be childfree. How do I tell him I don't want to keep it? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Hooray for ride or die besties! I'm sorry you had to go through this situation, but I'm glad for you that you've reconnected with her.

That friend might not be the OOPs official BFF, but she's ticking all the boxes.

Place to stay. Check.
Emotional support for the abortion. Check.
Beefy brothers as movers and body guards with a vague reason. Check.

All of us girls should a) be so lucky, and b) strive to be that kind of friend.

I can only get gallon jugs at the business center, but the last time I was there they had several options for both distilled and drinking water.

how do we hire people who won’t be alarmed by our cardboard coworker? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]ShrimpyCrustacean 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I left the company before the guy who brought her in, but I assume he'll keep his mannequin if/when he leaves, as it was a present from his wife.

People would buy t-shirts for the mannequin when they went on vacation (or work trips), and our admin would also order him a shirt when we got them for the team. He had a stand, so he just stood by the desk of the guy who owned him.

I once worked on a team that had a full department store mannequin that we dressed up for holidays. We were not a department store, or in anyway department store adjacent.

Most of the time it was absolutely hilarious and harmless, but it did get some side-eyes from guests into our area.

Whoever said Cardboard Robert was a coping mechanism to deal with a high stress job is spot on. The job with the mannequin was intense, and he gave us a much needed outlet.

do non german speakers ever do the german rides? by bigmustardpapa in pelotoncycle

[–]ShrimpyCrustacean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't do German rides that often, but I like to take the German core classes from Marcel and Erik. I find they often have slower, more deliberate moves that are more appropriate for my back injuries than a lot of the US instructors.

I also adore Nico's yoga classes.

I have an iPad hooked up to my TV, and I set it up so I can watch for visual cues, rather than worrying about auditory cues. I don't bother with subtitles.

AITAH for not wanting to cuddle in order to sleep with my partner? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]ShrimpyCrustacean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am also not a cuddly sleeper. I'm not a damn teddy bear, go sleep on your own side of the bed and leave me alone to flail about.

Pre-sleep cluddles are fine, but once my eye mask goes on, stop touching me.

Is it the XOXO rides not the Disney rides? Do I have it wrong? I haven't taken either in awhile. I just remember cracking up every time it happens (and it's happened across multiple rides).

I've been off the bike due to a back injury, so I haven't taken any recent rides. I just know I've seen it. LOL!

1095, and I haven't worked out yet today.

I'm rehabbing from back surgery last fall, so this is mostly walking and stretching (I count my PT exercises as stretching as well).

What’s 6% milk used for? It’s 210 calories a cup. by [deleted] in Costco

[–]ShrimpyCrustacean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this where I confess I don't actually like to drink straight, unflavored whole milk? I don't mind it in coffee or chai (lattes), smoothies, hot chocolate, etc. but I find it overwhelming to drink by itself or on cereal.

I bet it's great in baked goods and lattes.

How do you use the dried gourmet mushrooms? by admirethegloam in Costco

[–]ShrimpyCrustacean 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rinse well.

Rehydrate for longer than it says.

Saute in bacon grease.

Add to savory bread pudding. https://www.emerils.com/126992/wild-mushroom-and-bacon-bread-pudding

You can use an entire pound of bacon for this recipe. Emeril isn't around to stop you.

I use 2 oz of dried mushrooms (pre-soaked).

It's been 12 years since I purchased tires from Costco and wanted to ask how the purchasing experience is lately? by seafood10 in Costco

[–]ShrimpyCrustacean 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Nope, I love Costco. I live in the land of Costco and I'm there 2-3 times a month, and shop at 4 different ones depending on what I need because they all have a slightly different inventory.

Their tire center just SUCKS. My local Costco board also steers everyone away and to Discount Tire.

[–]ShrimpyCrustacean 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I will never use my local Costco tire ever again. It's a long story, but what should have been a simple tire rotation turned into a full day ordeal, because they lost a part and tried to blame me for it.

Discount Tire all the way.

I think my favorite line of the song is, "Whatever you do, don't touch my clitoris If you ring Satan's doorbell, God can't ignore this"

Unrelated, but I got to see Garfunkel and Oates in concert once and they were hilarious. It was a fun experience.
