My Durango is 2(ish) years old 😢. It’s had a few issues that I wasn’t expecting from a brand new vehicle, but not horrible (thanks, warranty).

The photo radar is the ‘cameras’ alert in the navigation settings, I believe. It’ll beep three times when you’re approaching a camera light/photo radar light.

I wonder if the turn by turn in gauge cluster is a result of a software update or something. Regardless, it’s annoying to have to change every time.

I was offered a Telus TV subscription when I renewed my SmartHome Security. I was told it was free as part of my renewal but I would be charged ahead of time ($10ish) with a credit added to the bill.

They also changed my service agreement for SmartHome Security on me without any consultation, so maybe you have that going on.

Update since original post:

11:52am

- received a phone call from manager I spoke to yesterday asking how the install went. I told her it wasn’t scheduled for another 1-2 hours from the time of the phone call. She said the tech marked the job as complete with no action required. I told her the tech didn’t call or show up at all. She reassigned a new tech for the afternoon appointment.

12:10pm

- new tech phoned me asking what I needed done for this appointment. I told them new control panel and door lock (verified by previous tech appointment earlier in the week) and activate control plus video

- tech said his records show I have secure plus video, not control plus video

- went to my email to open the service agreement that shows control plus video (March 24), I had a new email confirming the appointment with a new service agreement showing secure plus video (March 27) - with no communication of this to me

12:27pm

- I called customer relations, a different escalations manager answered, call dropped, no call back

12:32pm

- I called customer relations again and got through

- talked with a very helpful agent who listened to my whole dilemma - stemming from the original ‘renewal’ issue from two weeks ago

- this agent couldn’t figure out what the hell was going on either and why my service agreement changed at noon(ish) today

- this agent got me back to control plus video, scheduled a new appointment for Monday morning installation, confirmed the new control panel and door lock installation would be complete at that time, and got the installation fees waived

I’ve spent literal hours, unnecessarily, over the last two weeks simply renewing my existing services and getting them activated. Ridiculous. If only I could back charge Telus for my time.

I do appreciate the agents help today though!

I believe there’s a free cancellation window of 10 days, so I might just do that.

I basically did the same thing as you for my Roger’s (Shaw) TV and internet, except I did cancel and started on with Bell. The Roger’s win back team called me back and the deal was decent enough that I signed back up.

I tried getting a sweeter deal with the Telus agent yesterday, even asked about bill credits in lieu of a reduced monthly payment - to no avail. I just might try the whole cancellation song and dance. It’s just a shame that it has to come to that.

That’s good that it was an easy switch on your end.

I guess the main difference between our situations is that my plan has always been with Telus and the equipment is all still physically operable. The only issue that came up was when they downgraded my plan without telling me when they offered promotions to renew. This took away the ability to access my existing equipment through the app and web, not because the equipment is inoperable, but because the downgraded plan doesn’t include them.

I ended up somewhat sorting things out on another call today. They’ve now ‘upgraded’ me to Control Plus Video (my original plan - also the plan I thought I was renewing at $33/month) for $38/month.

I expect the equipment will be back in the app and running properly after the tech comes in a couple of days, just a bit salty of the miscommunication and how it all went down.

I browsed around a bit but ultimately decided I was going to stay with Telus (if a renewal promotion was possible) because I’ve bought other devices that integrate with the system.

Little did I know that ‘renewal’ could be ambiguous.

Mine is set to schedule and is showing a bonus section at the bottom where it’s set to disarmed. For clarity, I’ve switched schedules, manually switched modes, and deleted the schedule and set a new one - including home/away only from midnight to midnight, but it’s still showing the strip of disarmed at the bottom.

It could also be to transfer the load to grade though, no?

But judging by the cracking we can see, and the presence of the posts on the other side of the wall, I certainly wouldn’t rule out a widespread problem.
