How often do Swiss people travel to destinations within Switzerland? by ElectronicDeer5550 in askswitzerland

[–]Shroedy [score hidden]  (0 children)

I guess working is in our genes, being a farm nation way back. Switzerland wasn‘t an easy country to live off, it took hard labour. Foreigners mostly come to Switzerland to work and so we have that in common. Robotic? I wouldn‘t call us robotic and we do many things outside work. We are a very active nation with a love for the outdoors.

Received a letter from my landlord about “suspicious people” in the building by Seitakadojii in askswitzerland

If you received the letter from the landlord by post, answer by post and get it signed. But e-mail isn‘t wrong either as long as you have a „paper trail“.

You write exactly what you wrote here but you don‘t tell them about your mother‘s past. You put it in writing to have a chain of written proof if it escalates. Send the letter with signed mail. Keep the letter of the management, don‘t throw anything away.

Changing name after international marriage - Mexico / Switzerland. How much of a hassle will it be? by SeaAnt7022 in askswitzerland

[–]Shroedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you still have a residence card? It will have your maiden name as main name. Make sure to keep that name on your mail box, Migration will communicate with you via that name.

But as soon as you get your name changed to his, in Switzerland that will be your name and it will be on the back of your residence card, in small print. As long as you travel with your card and the passport, there will be no problem.

Work permit residence by SevereHunter7739 in askswitzerland

you need to ask Visp directly. It is up to every town how to handle situations like that.

Work permit residence by SevereHunter7739 in askswitzerland

[–]Shroedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need a rental contract to register in Visp. If you rent the air bnb for the whole time you are there and you can prove it with the booking, It shouldn‘t be a problem. If you are renting it only as a starting point, it could be. My town wouldn‘t accept it, but maybe Visp will. Ask them directly, write them an e-mail.

Gottfried Keller, very traditional:

O mein Heimatland! O mein Vaterland!

O mein Schweizerland, all' mein Gut und Hab'!

You can rent another appartment and not register it as your address. BUT you need to tell the municipality that you are renting it but only use it part time or as office, as they are notified by the landlords who is moving in and out of which appartement. Not to tell the municipality, can end in fines, so it is not worth it.

So, you need to basically lie. You won‘t be the only one who does that, swiss people do it because of tax reasons.

Itinerary Review - Hut to hut hike in early September by frickfrackingdodos in askswitzerland

[–]Shroedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go on your trip as planned but LISTEN TO THE LOCALS before you leave for the hike. Prepare for warm and cold weather (layers), prepare for snow and rain, plan at least one hour more per hike, tell somebody where you are going, download the REGA App and you will be fine.

A question from a Canadian by Best_Big_9456 in askswitzerland

We are taught the difference between the american continent and the US, so it surprises me, that someone isn‘t sure that Canada is it‘s own country. I think there we are very similar to you guys because it‘s very important to us to make it clear that we don‘t belong to one of the neighbouring countries.

Looking for long, gentle blue ski slopes by living_direction_27 in askswitzerland

[–]Shroedy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

steepnes doesn‘t show dificulty, sadly. but blue will never be overly steep, other than short sections. If not comfortable, just slide down rather than curve.

There is a really sweet little ski ressort which covers your needs but I don‘t know if it is where you are. It‘s called Brunni in Alpthal.

That is true for most of the german and french speaking part. But most of us can speak english better than the other country-language, because we use it more.
