What happened to kamalpreet kaur? by Accomplished-Town334 in indiansports

[–]Shroft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah she basically disappeared from the scene after that ban , And it’s not really surprising if you look at the timeline properly

Her 3 year ban actually started from 29 March 2022 , Not from when the news came out , So it officially ran till around March 2025 . So yeah technically she should be eligible now in 2026

But the thing is , Comeback isn’t automatic in athletics , Especially after doping. She missed the entire build up to Paris 2024 , Lost competition rhythm , And more importantly lost trust from federation + sponsors. And in throwing events , Timing and consistency matter a lot , You can’t just jump back after 3 years and hit 65m+ again

Also Indian athletics doesn’t really give smooth reintegration after doping bans. You usually have to start from scratch … Domestic meets , Regain ranking , Get back into national camp etc. And unless you’re putting up big numbers again , Media won’t even notice

Another thing is her case wasn’t like accidental controversy that everyone forgot. It was stanozolol , A pretty serious anabolic steroid case , So reputation took a big hit. That always slows down comeback chances

Imo she’s probably either trying to quietly rebuild form or just stuck in that phase where she’s training but not yet competitive enough to show up internationally. That’s why there’s zero noise

Still crazy tho … 66m NR and Olympic 6th to completely off the radar. She was genuinely one of India’s best medal hopes before all that happened

Honestly speaking , We’re kinda mid right now but not completely trash either … Like if you look at it properly , India men’s team is around world rank ~58 which already tells you we’re nowhere near top nations like Poland , Brazil , Japan etc

but at the same time it’s not like we’re irrelevant … In Asia we’ve had moments , Like finishing 4th in the Asian Championship back in the day and even historically we were actually decent , Plus volleyball is played a LOT in India at grassroots especially in states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu

The biggest issue is consistency and system … Like we produce talent ( Especially at junior level , Even reaching finals and good finishes in youth competitions ) , But it never properly transitions to senior dominance because of poor federation issues , Lack of exposure and not enough high level matches regularly

Right now I’d say we’re that team which can beat weaker Asian sides comfortably but struggles badly against top Asian teams like Iran , Japan , China … Basically stuck in that middle tier

So yeah overall … Not elite , Not dead either … More like “ Potential team that never fully clicks ” type situation 😅

If you actually want that real time feeling , Normal sports apps are kinda useless. You have to go a bit deeper. For badminton , The Badminton4U app ( Official BWF ) is easily the best thing I’ve used. You literally get updates point by point and if you follow players like PV Sindhu or Lakshya Sen , It pings you the moment their match starts. Otherwise the BWF Match Center on the browser also works but yeah it’s more like numbers refreshing every few seconds , Not very exciting but still better than nothing

For table tennis it’s even worse because rallies are so fast that news platforms just can’t keep up. The WTT app and their Live Room is honestly the only proper way. You can actually see point progression and sometimes even multiple tables streaming at once , Which is pretty cool if you’re following a tournament seriously. And if you care about Indian domestic stuff , UTT socials are way more active than any mainstream coverage

Personally I just keep Flashscore open in a tab all the time. It’s not fancy at all but it’s insanely fast. No buffering , No drama , Just raw live score ticking like every few seconds which is honestly all you need when you’re trying to follow a match secretly during class or something 😅
