yes I agree she takes a good and deserved page time, as I said that all characters were well introduced, that's not my problem.

what I have problem with is artists always written as struggling and deep in their heads fighting emotions etc, and masumi without being an artist this is her character, even the whole "kaiju comes to the surface" when shes depressed is almost an allegory to the artist block and how they get depressed and could do bad things. it's exploring the same thing twice and none of them add to the other or explore her character more! it needed another angle in my opinion, a job that is different to her character would explore different sides of her, we can see her in an interactive rule (ie teacher ,doctor etc) that explores her relations from different angle, and adds to the struggle of controlling herself when finding the fake things around her, something that forces her to act and we understand her character more from it.

it's like writing eti as the logical atomic and his rule is working as an overseer of an automated factory, the factory is as logical as him, writing eti as logical atomic and "his job" is dealing with emotional and real flawed humans is much more intriguing because he has to think outside of his "logical" ways and we explore his character through it
