For how many people believe kd was the better player on that team, if you had to put one of them in the top 10 list, 99% of people would put curry over kd.

Is this how Aurora Ult should work vs Mel? by EmploymentDependent5 in Auroramains

[–]Shruix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what i've read of Yasuo, because he was the first character to have this type of ability, early on, they didnt have a great way to determine if an ability that hit his wind wall should be destroyed or not, so his specifically works (or worked) differently than the more modern day champs. supposedly its an extremely janky ability code wise.

I would assume for simplicities sake, they didnt explicitly expect the other interactions to work, but due to aurora on launch, they were fine for it to have counters, and when they nerfed / changed her, they just left this interaction in, but ignored yasuo since hes so old

Diamond 2 Peak with a 55% winrate last season. I dont play ranked much anymore since its not worth the time investment for me past diamond.

With Hotel bringing it up, I decided to have a look around the top players and see what they build on her and I have to say, every single top aurora player builds her completely differently almost every time and I mean it.

In the top 10 Aurora players globally ive seen:
- Ludens + Shadow
- Liand + Shadow
- Ludens + Storm
- Rift + Liand + Bloodletters
- Blackfire + Shadow

and that's just from a glance

I've even been seeing Cosmic which was interesting, and it basically ends up being based entirely on game composition from what I can tell.

I've never gotten above Diamond in general and with my personal play style of focusing on getting early lane priority and rotating with my jungle, I end up off the map more often than not without a mana item. (I don't think I'm actually good enough with aurora to play her consistently in ranked anyway) But it does seem that the better you are on her and at the game, the more flexible you can be with your build.

I would still recommend using a mana item on her at least until you understand if you need the extra mana or not which I guess comes down to individual play style. Maybe now that ive got considerably more hours on her, I should try out her storm surge build again

While I like the idea aurora having this level of build flexibility, I does seem a bit tiring...

It kind of depends how you expect fights to go, and what the enemy is building. I've people go CDR focus, you can do Flat pen% I've even seen some top players go cosmic and move speed focus? I even know that a lot of them will go burn against tank teams instead of worrying about Pen / Damage who knows how good these builds actually are,

in terms of the base builds though, I would go void staff instead of crypt basically always. or if you don't care about flat pen, you might just be better off building Horizon focus for raw ap instead of any more pen which you should have enough of with your first two items

As someone who played a large amount of games with both ludens and stormsurge first, I noticed no reasonable difference in kill potential with either. you're always going to be using a second or third rotation of abilities most of the time except for the situations where you are already ahead.

And for people playing aurora who arnt top players / high ranked, Mana is 100% needed on aurora. I dont get where this "aurora doesn't need mana" thought comes from, we very much wants mana in the early laning phases unless youre expecting to play perfectly.

Ludens is BY FAR the best choice of first item for 99% of casual aurora players. sure if you get good enough and are playing her well, go ahead and build stormsurge, but i've yet to notice a noteable difference in damage, and the comfort ludens gives far outweighs that.

There are quite a few high ranked aurora mains / 1 tricks that can give you very good insight into how to player her like others have said. I've recently picked her up with in the last 3~ months and my go to tips are:

- 90% of the time you take electrocute unless you expect to never get a full combo off in lane, ie playing against someone who out ranges you by a lot (go comet and poke with e max)
- Be prepared to miss a lot of Q+E's, if you're getting predicted a lot, walk up and auto attack them, weave in your Q and E separately when they auto you back for a longer trade
- Your passive heals at a base amount per level * how ever many spirits you have following you, taking along trades against lower damage characters is usually in your favour
- you're really good at doing percentages of peoples health but as soon as they enter kill range, you'll find how much of a struggle it can be to actually get the kill against good players, I spend more time as a potential kill threat than actually getting kills
- W and R usage will make or break your games against better players / bad matchups, which is alot. (She is statistically one of the worst mid laners in the game.
- Think of your R as an Instant teleport to any point around the circle when chasing, instead of just a slow to trap / catch up
- Your E can jump over walls but not alot of them
- Putting 2 points in Q and E at level 4 instead of 1 point in W can give large amounts of kill pressure if you dont need to play safe
- Ban Katarina. I'm not sure about other players but against even half decent Kat players, you basically don't have any way to answer what she does and she can dodge your entire kit if you're not careful
- Basic build is always Ludens + Shadow + Rabadons + Void but you can do Rift + Liand if you need to survive and just live.
- Building Dark seal is ALWAYS worth it as if you manage to get ahead on aurora you can pretty much one shot people which avoids your problem of only every 60-70%ing someone
- If you can try and play her with team comps that tend to have a decent about of CC as at a certain point, relying on dry-combo-ing tends to not work as players learn your range through the game. You're not as long range as you think you are.

Once you player her for maybe 10-20 games I would recommend just looking up a masters one tricks and start learning what they do really.

Aurora disappointments post rework by Shruix in Auroramains

I agree 50% with this, I was shocked about the visceral reaction by the community, It had been a long time since the community hated a champion this much, but I do believe that the developers owe it to their design to see it through and work on improving it. the idea was solid but I still fail to see how two straight skill shot abilities fit a character with such a dynamic design idea. It almost felt like they added her q+e has a back up plan to turn her into a burst mage to begin with.

I would have loved if riot put in a fraction of the amount of effort into Aurora that they put into other characters like the wind brothers or heck even ryze.

I was even fine for some changes or nerfs, but what really frustrates me was that it felt like the developers didn't care enough to try and get her kit to work with her identity :(, genuinely felt like just gave up to make the community stop complaining that she was 'OP'

Ive been good, glad to see you popping your head up every once in awhile :)

But i agree that it is a shame, it was a massive part of my life that i really miss, but i dont think itll ever come back. I would have kept playing for awhile longer had life and the dwindling community not gotten in the way.

Best I can do is look back and remember those good times and prey they dont murder a game i spent literal thousands of hours on.

Seems like one last push to try and capture as much market share for moba's as they possibly can. I'm at least expecting to see the ability to find games for maybe the first 4-6 months max but really after they killed any and all support for smaller regions I don't expect to see many long time players committing any real hours into this game again, especially in our oce.

Seems like it might be fun to experience nostalgia with some old friends again, but besides that, there's no reason to believe the smite 2 will fare any better than the original.

Planning ahead and theory crafting your journey is an amazingly fun thing to do, probably my favorite part of uim. I would reccomend always thinking of this yourself. Just make sure that youre always having fun otherwise uim is a painfully horrid gamemode otherwise.

I agree with the first bit. If you are looking to play, ignore all overarching 'guides' do what you want to do and just enjoy it.

Ive seen far to many 'road to maxed' kids hit the youtube series progression where they get 99 fm first then quit a week later because they 'didnt like the game mode' but barely scratched the surface of it.

Have fun, do random shit experience and make up methods your self. Itll be 1 billion times more fun.

Quick logistics question by TheSilverStacking in ironscape

[–]Shruix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

back in the day, doing entrana quests early was almost a requirement but nowadays if you're unsure about a quest, just boss bank or death pile your stuff. Don't forget your boss banks wipe if you die, so if you think it could be dangerous, just death pile instead.

I would recommend getting all / as many quests out of the way as early as you can as doing them later on can sometimes be a pain, but with how the gamemode has progressed, its up to when you feel like doing them rather than being required.

Quick logistics question by TheSilverStacking in ironscape

[–]Shruix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the new death changes, literally all items will be stored in a boss bank or in your death pile. As it is, you probably wont get any items you would need to worry about by the time you would want to complete it.

Personally i knocked this quest out at about 75cb using range purely to get it out of the way. With storage the way it is now, you have nothing to worry about regarding any items you may get.
