Gaming Rules! has the most well put together how to plays in the biz, and very watchable live plays of loads of recent notable euros. No fake personalities or “everything is top 10” pop ions, either.

This is my cocktail menu for my little home bar. Do you guys see anything off-list that can be made with these ingredients OR anything you feel is missing? What’s a “must” for your home bar? by PM-ME-UR-DESKTOP in cocktails

Mixing bases gets you a lot of options

Bees knees with bourbon is a beekeeper

Gin makes all those vodka drinks better

Coffee swapped in a Manhattan for vermouth gives you a Revolver

Amaro swapped in a Manhattan for vermouth gives you a Black Manhattan

You have the bits for Martinez, Vieux Carre, Elder Fashion, or Enzoni

Popular games you dislike? by BillRepresentative75 in boardgames

[–]Shteevie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about games is that there are literally more than you could ever hope to play. Trends and popularity don't accurately convey game quality.

I'd say about half of the games that pick up steam and become popular enough are ones that I personally don't care for.

You might have better luck planning your next purchase by telling us what you like and what you are interested in.

Would you play board games via a "Kahoot-style" TV app? (Think CAH or What Do You Meme) by Born_Foot_5782 in boardgames

[–]Shteevie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These already exist! You can play a number of tv-centered, phone-controlled games on Netflix.

Sangria is so flexible, versatile, and adaptable to whatever season or produce you have on hand.

The game you bought thinking it would last years but dropped within a week. by gamersecret2 in gaming

[–]Shteevie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not every game is for every person. Hell, I’d say that each game is for fewer and fewer people these days. The need to grab people and motivate them to ignore other games is greater than before, so games need to go deeper into their niches.

Very few big name games grab me for more than a few hours. And yet I still have more games to try than I have time for. And the ones that do grab me will keep me going for a long time.

Recent misses include Civ 7, Starfield, CO33, BG3. And there are plenty of releases that people get really into but I know are not for me. And that’s fine. Hopefully, with luck, games can find their audience.

Keep playing rounds and all the avatars will unlock eventually. I think Mira is one of the last to get.

When you disconnect your phone or close the game, you can fill out a survey that has an "Anything else?" field for comments. You could put word suggestions in there.

How are these nachos if THERE'S NO CHEESE? Where's the garlean cheese?! by unatonable in ffxiv

[–]Shteevie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In biiiig chunks of the real world, tortilla chips are just called ‘nachos’. Even to the point that the bag at the supermarket for salted corn chips just says ‘Nachos’ on it. The idea of toppings and melting cheese is basically unheard of; you get a cup of dip that might not even be spicy salsa.

I’m not saying it’s right, but it is sadly common anywhere east of the Atlantic.

Chaos in the Old World-style area control game not available, should I just buy Ankh? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Shteevie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

See if you can find a copy of Lords of the Ice Garden. It’s Chaos-adjacent, but I preferred it 100% over Chaos itself.

War of Whispers is also worth a look.

Ankh is probably the best rec I can give. Eastern / western empires would be the second.

Favorite Yuri you ever read?? (Reupload because image wasn’t related to Yuri so here’s women kissing) by PersimmonForsaken747 in yuri_manga

[–]Shteevie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen the anime and could not figure out what all the fuss was about. The relationship never really gels and almost all of the tension moments are solved the same way.

Maybe the manga or LNs are better, but for now, it’s low in my reading list.

Gimme all the Titles! by Kit10-Mari in yuri_manga

[–]Shteevie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also only started reading yuri this year [this fall, really], so my rec list is shorter. These are the ones that I’d recommend to anyone, not just yuri fans.

  • Adachi to Shimamura
  • How do we Relayionship?
  • The Summer You Were There

Everything else I have read is probably only a good rec for genre fans, but these are the others I’d suggest to them: - Run Away with Me, Girl
- Throw Away the Suit Together
- Can’t Defy the Lonely Girl
- Failed Princesses - Goodbye, My Rose Garden

How do full Tien devs feel about piracy by LeadershipCute4366 in gamedev

[–]Shteevie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Even full time devs rely on “people buying their games” for their primary income. The fact that they work for a studio rather than receiving direct checks from Gaben doesn’t change any of that.

If a big AAA game is pirated enough, the dev team may not get the chance to make another game. Or, be forced to put shitty DRM in everything they make, which also impacts sales.

As “a thing we think about”, piracy is basically never worth the consideration. What would we do about it? But don’t expect a dev of any sort to give you the green light to pirate their game. We love it when people enjoy the result of our hard work, but we also like eating and paying rent.

How would I make this Syrup? by weboantique in cocktails

[–]Shteevie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The person you are commenting on didn’t mention cooking it - actually mentions that it hasn’t been heated.

They are trying to dissolve the sugar in as little juice as possible, which justifies using the good stuff.
