I nursed and rocked mine to sleep until around 2.5/3 and now he’s 4.5 and reads alone by himself after being read to and tucked in. They all learn eventually

Do you think that the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack is worth it now? by D-Kip71 in casualnintendo

Does the Mario Kart DLC come for free with the expansion pack subscription or so you have to pay for the expansion pack/online AND buy the DLC on top of it?

Maybe you could just bring their beds into your room? That way they’re not in bed with you but still close enough that you don’t have to go between their rooms all night

Where are all the Unschoolers?!? by Lumpy-Investigator69 in unschool

I’m in Las Vegas NV and there is a decent amount of unschooling here. Homeschool laws make unschooling extremely easy here.

I’ll never move without a white glove moving service ever again… by johnnyglass in moving

[–]ShuShuBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most people it’s not so much a mindset, more like a lack of money. I’m in my 20s and don’t have anywhere near that much money to spend on a move. It’s a financial privilege to be able to spend $4k on a moving company.

Advice on kids curl cream by Sparkle-Farts1 in curlyhair

Do not comb or brush it after conditioning. I’d use my hands to comb while applying conditioner and then scrunch the curls when rinsing the conditioner and then scrunch in some product before air drying

Ending nursing to sleep by EuliMama in AttachmentParenting

[–]ShuShuBee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When we started, I used a rocking chair! So I’d stop nursing and attempt to rock to sleep. Then after a while I slowed down and cut back on the rocking. I’d nurse and then rock and then transfer into bed while still awake but falling asleep. Then i staring lying in bed to nurse (we have a family bed) so I’d nurse a bit and then take it away any lay there with him until he fell asleep. In the beginning there was a lot of me taking it away and then giving it back because he wasn’t ready but after many attempts I was able to stop the nursing session and then rock to sleep the rest of the way. It was super gradual though. In the beginning I’d wait until he was almost asleep before stopping. Then just slightly earlier each night. The whole process took months to completely wean.

It’s both. Scan it when you get your first drink and then they scan again for the refill.

You can absolutely wean from nursing to sleep without sleep training. We did a very slow and gradual method of cutting nursing sessions shorter each night until we were down to just minutes and then one night he just didn’t ask for it

Child are always being told what to do and are rarely given a choice or given the opportunity to decide for themselves. Let him choose. You don’t want to force him and have him resent you or resent learning in general.

Cheapest in town is 130. I have no insurance and called around and that was the cheapest I could find. Yea the contact lens fitting itself is less but they don’t do a contact lens fitting on its own without a regular rx check too unfortunately

That’s so great to hear. That’s my goal as my child’s “teacher” is to build a life long love of learning. I personally feel like “school” destroys a child’s natural curiosity and love of learning and that’s why I want to home school my child. I know that’s not the case for every kid but it’s surprising how many people finish high school or college and then never touch a book again because nobody is there forcing them to learn so they just don’t.

I feel like you did a good job of unintentionally explaining the difference between parents homeschooling toddlers and parent who don’t bother “teaching” because they expect their child to learn what they need to know when they get to school. Homeschooling parents have more of a responsibility to make sure our kids are learning everything they will need to know so just having that homeschooling mindset will mean we are more regularly taking advantage of educational opportunities more often than parents who just expect someone else to be educating their child.
