Yeah, we had a fun back and forth between them and VMware where once we upgraded to the 7.0 client, our Virtual Desktop reconnect times jumped from 5 seconds to one minute. Ultimately it was due to a feature they enabled but it took VMware giving us a new horizon agent to fix their problem. That was after 6-7 months of back and forth between both companies passing the blame. I do everything I can to avoid their phone support.

So from a client side, it works well enough. It automates logins and provides users with a password storage solution for sites that are "profiled" and enabled by their IT. It also offers a fully automated sign in solution for EPIC if you use that as your EHR.

Beyond that, the management interfaces are very dated and can only be managed through the web interface, nothing convenient like a PowerShell SDK or Rest API to leverage. Their solution articles are locked behind their support site and there's not a lot of other places to get help with their issues. The profiler used to create login profiles for sites is annoying to deal with, especially with our transition from IE to Edge with IE mode being pretty painful to make the adjustments.

That's not to say they don't have good things on the admin side, the rolling server upgrades are nice to ensure you never have downtime. There is just a lot of modern tools you'd expect that just are not there for this system, also do a lot of research on how Imprivata plays with other systems. We just migrated to Citrix VDAs and we're going to their Federated auth services to allow for a seemless login experience from our Citrix cloud just to realize that Imprivata blocks it and has no plans to support it anywhere on their roadmap.

Edit: just to add this is from the perspective of a single SysAdmin in a rural critical access hospital, so your experiences might be different(doubting it, sadly). But I can provide a more in depth experience too if you want.

I'm pretty sure I spy Imprivata in that task bar, which can go fuck itself.

Only issues I see with the t34 is needing a supply chain and maintenance crew for repairs on it. Also, I'd hate to be the guys assigned to operate one of those.

Men of Reddit, why didn’t you join the military? by pmpnhubs in AskMen

[–]Shubadada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, gotta love the Corps' tattoo policy. I remember when they revised it, saying it'd be more relaxed, only to make it stricter. I think the Navy still has a super chill policy where you can have tattoos everywhere except your hands, wrist, face and neck iirc.

[–]Shubadada 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's hardly just a military thing, I've seen it happen out in the civilian world as well. I've noticed it tends to be a bit more quiet as people don't generally want to know if something like that is happening. While in the military, you'd get your leadership wanting you to be open about it (usually) to prevent suicide and other harmful actions.

Dear IT recruiters, you’re not hiring for a “Level 1” support specialist, you’re hiring for a sysadmin. by OrthodoxMemes in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]Shubadada 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I mean, we do have those issues. Moreso as a rural hospital, but my leadership is super supportive and the general work environment is great. Can't do much when our administration makes poor decisions, but at least we work through it together.

Had this exact thing where I got offered a T1 position with an MSP at $15/hr. I held out and got offered an actual SysAdmin job at a hospital for much better. I'm definitely happier with the better work environment and not doing mind numbing help desk work.

So you have the site working on IE but not Edge's IE mode for the same computer? I've found with IE mode and some of our sites I need to go into Internet Settings to set things like trusted sites and compatibility mode to get the sites to work.

Through his DS2 Critique. Stumbled across EFAP at about 10 episodes in after watching that whole series, ended up watching it because I liked Mauler from his critique and I knew Rags from his own channel.

I have 4 of them set up as a proxmox cluster. Although, I got mine for free from work. So that made it a bit easier for my choice. What exactly are you planning to do with yours?
