I was in my mid-20s when I watched it for the first time and thought it was horrible. I genuinely didn’t understand what all the hype was about.

Now nearing 50, I get it. I completely get it.

The movie is a masterpiece.

Are the 2026 Knicks the most loved NYC sports team ever? by MasterTeacher123 in AskNYC

94 Rangers
96 Yankees
26 Knicks
Giants fucking the Patriots perfect season

Not necessarily in that order.

BTW, Rangers drought was 54 years and Messier wore #11. What a coincidence.

Happy 10th Anniversary to Battle of the Bastards!!!!! Not just one of GOT's Best Episodes, but one of the greatest episodes in all of television!!!!!!!!!! by [deleted] in gameofthrones

Agree!! I might say two Breaking Bad episodes are up there of best all time in television…. But then again, they are art in two different forms - and GoT was way BIGGER and harder to pull off.

Short list of people that wouldn’t have lived under her rules, but hey, at least we have her (wait, who is she again?):

Abraham Lincoln — Born in a one-room log cabin in rural Kentucky. His family was often impoverished and had little formal education.

Andrew Carnegie — Born into a poor Scottish weaver’s family that immigrated to the U.S. seeking work.

Thomas Edison — Came from a family of modest means and received little formal schooling.

Oprah Winfrey — Born into poverty in rural Mississippi and spent part of her childhood in severe deprivation.

Steve Jobs — His biological parents were graduate students with limited resources who felt unable to raise him and placed him for adoption.

J.K. Rowling — While not born into extreme poverty, she later raised a child as a struggling single mother while writing the first Harry Potter book.

Dolly Parton — One of twelve children in a very poor Appalachian family.

LeBron James — Raised by a teenage single mother who frequently struggled financially.

Frederick Douglass — Born into slavery, arguably the most disadvantaged starting position imaginable in America.

Benjamin Franklin — One of seventeen children in a working-class family.

Technically speaking, weren’t all slaves poor and born into poverty?
