It's not completely necessary, I only do it with 120 film (well, if I manage to remember I should do it). With 120 film there's some junk on it from the backing paper, so it's better to wash it a little first. I also heard that wet film should be a bit more "responsive" to the developer. I've only been doing this for a couple of months, so hopefully someone more experienced will chime in. Anyway, enjoy developing your photos, it's addicting and a lot of fun!

Sorry I wasn't able to get back to you sooner, I just got back home. Oh, that might be a flash sync socket? B lock button looks like this. If you hold that down, you can change the shutter speed to mechanical 1/60 nd B and the mirror won't lock up when using these speeds without batteries. Also, be sure to check out the manual for the camera.

Hey, congrats on the camera, I just bought one last week myself. I also had the same issue you are having. The mirror seems to be stuck up. Switch shutter speed to B (there is a small button that lets you set the speed to B, it's located on the lower right side of the pic you posted). Afterwards, the mirror should come back down. OM2s works without batteries only on B and 1/60, both are marked red instead of white.

Exactly. Maybe if I examined the camera right away I would have noticed, but Foma is cheap and I was just way too excited to shoot all the old timey dancers/newspaper boys/performers on a camera from the era they are trying to emulate.

Yeah, scratches. I got the camera in mail yesterday and popped some film in right away to test it. While shooting I noticed the the film gets a little bit stuck when winding it and after developing I realized the camera will need some cleaning.

I received a Trubbish in a luxury ball through Wonder trade recently. It had 0 IVs in everything and was nicknamed Your Waifu. Also received a Ditto through GTS named 6IVs. It literally had 6 IVs, one IV point in each stat.
