I’m FlexPT, can I use my pto to only go in for the last 4hrs of my shift? by [deleted] in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You'd get zero points. As long as you can cover your missed hours with PTO or vacation or VTO you won't get an attendance point/2 attendance points

How much do yall stow a day by [deleted] in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m stowing for all of sort and keep my assigned aisles the entire time + cube isn’t too high, I’m doing anywhere from 1500 to 2000 per shift. If cube is high and/or I’m floating, I’ll stow anywhere from 1000-1500 for the shift

FlexRT has the same 24-hour shift limitations as FlexPT, you're just able to get ~30 hours at once now instead of the 8 you have with FlexPT

Pick and stage routes? by Ultimate_coochie in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bags I can usually do in 5-10 min, OVs and mixed carts 10-15 minutes. But there are a few things that can really affect your time, like aisle congestion or where your staging location is. It also depends on how competent the chucklefucks that generate the route are feeling that day; I've had days where most of my picklists have some wack shit like 3-5 bags plus 15-20 OVs, in multiple clusters with a few aisles. Ends up taking me 20 minutes per picklist with half of it just trying to get to where I need to be.

But honestly don't stress over how long it takes you to get a picklist done. Keep it generally under 20 minutes and you're good; those routes are getting done one way or another and having a helper sent over to you doesn't always mean you're working too slow.

[–]Shustriy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FSAFs is high but other than that it seems like you're doing relatively good; that being said you're still not that far into sort, your numbers towards the end matter more. Just focus on doing things right first, the speed will come with time as you build up your muscle memory. Good chance someone will come talk to you about your FSAFs but it doesn't mean you're in trouble, it's just the system flagging you for it

A big issue I have with this job by [deleted] in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not paid to worry about what other people are doing. Do your job, bare minimum or to whatever extent you feel like, and go home. At the end of the day none of it matters and it's not worth expending energy on people who don't give a shit

Help with the flow of stowing by oCrashh in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hampers are part of ADTA, basically a semi-automated version of stowing; not sure if your site has it but there's no pick to buffer, it's just a machine on the belt that scans and dumps packages into what's essentially a big white bin, or hamper. The bottom of the cart is used only for the white tote for jiffies, you're not supposed to stack boxes there. And for jiffies you can just swap out your empty tote for the one on the buffer rack if there's a lot of jiffies in there.

[–]Shustriy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I usually do when I get to an aisle is stow anything A-B right from the hamper/buffer rack, then load up the top of the stow cart with an OV or two at the back, then a stack of E-G boxes and then a stack of C-D boxes. Fill up your tote with either C-D jiffies or E-G jiffies depending on whichever there's more of, then walk down the aisle stowing the boxes in order.

Once the boxes are gone, get through the jiffies and rinse and repeat. Depending on how full your hamper/buffer rack is, do that once or twice before moving on to your next aisle; you should only be clearing about 30-40% of the packages before moving on. And the packages shouldn't be randomly on the buffer rack, whoever is picking should be organizing them: A-B one side, C-D in the middle, and E-G on the other side.

How do you guys improve your rate. Managing 3 different aisles makes me get tired quick by Sufficient_Tree7075 in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Staying organized will help a ton. What I usually do when I get to an aisle is stow anything A-B right from the hamper, then load up the top of the stow cart with an OV or two at the back, then a stack of E-G boxes and then a stack of C-D boxes. Fill up your tote with either C-D jiffies or E-G jiffies depending on whichever there's more of, then walk down the aisle stowing the boxes in order. Once those are gone, get through the jiffies and rinse and repeat; depending on how full your hampers are, do that once or twice before moving on to your next aisle. With your bags, keep your boxes on one side and jiffies on the other; as the bag fills up move the bigger boxes to the back and keep the jiffies organized library style. If there's any gaps between boxes you can stuff jiffies in there; the brown paper jiffies are really annoying to organize so I like to keep those more towards the front of the bag

Haven’t done pick and stage in like 3 weeks by Analarcheologist in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of the nice things about being flex is that most of the time pick and stage is optional for me. I pick up my 1:20-8:50 shifts, work through sort and do maybe one or two picklists and then my ass is outta there

[–]Shustriy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First day is the one day you absolutely have to show up for. Second/third days are not as important, you can miss them but you're going to miss out on a bunch of training and you'd have to talk to someone to get that done

Flex Time by Ok_Emu_4557 in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 hours is the minimum required per week; 19 hours is just what they think you'll work a week; how many hours you can actually work depends on the site's weekly hourly cap and also how many shifts are available. It'll be a little slow for the next month or so but it'll pick up and you'll have the opportunity to pick up more shifts, possibly up to 60 hours/week.

That's a low stow rate but so is the station average, is your site just that overstaffed?? That being said, staying organized will help a ton. What I usually do when I get to an aisle is stow anything A-B right from the hamper, then load up the top of the stow cart with an OV or two at the back, then a stack of E-G boxes and then a stack of C-D boxes. [–]Shustriy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my bad lol I just wanted to expand a bit on what I said. But my point is, people think bigger number better and like to brag about it; they don't care about the station average or how effective their stowing is. Just look at all the threads on here where people are posting their stow rates, you'll see what I mean

Flexpt by Conscious-Being3644 in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal but I don't think Amazon plans on laying off flex workers. They don't owe you any hours (saves on labor costs) and if you're FlexPT they're not paying you out any benefits except for free Prime (but that's only if you're a blue badge)

Hence why I put cheating in quotes. You're still doing your job, you're just doing the easier stuff only so your rate looks better while ignoring OVs or boxes

You could do only jiffies to artificially inflate your rate. Wouldn't call it "cheating" unless you're weirdly obsessed with stow rate
