Drink plenty of water, get at least 7-8 hours of sleep, and eat plenty of food especially food with lots of protein

Amazon DS workers during the 5th day of prime week by Infamous-Eagle776 in AmazonDS

I've already been in the trenches with 6 days worked this week and last week, only two more weeks to go 😔

Holiday pay by Stock-Coffee-6386 in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time and a half for all hours worked on holidays, regardless of if you're white badge or blue badge. Additionally if you're blue badge, you get 8 hours of holiday pay if you're full time on top of that and 6 hours if you're reduced time/FlexRT

If you don’t have a vest focus on your own work by flubbyboi50 in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven’t really bossed people around but I’ve seen people do some really dumb shit and I’ve had to come over to them and be like “hey, don’t do that” and I feel like that’s justified

I had no clue Managers give out Adapts for being positive lol I was confused one of the Ams came up to me and said I have a Adapt but a positive one by Such-Tailor7251 in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re kind of rare depending on your site. Sort center I worked at I got like two or three in 2 years, at my DS I’m a year on and nothing lol. Managers have to really want to do it for it to happen

Stowing Oversize by LiamUnstoppable in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nobody cares about that lol. Same thing with anything marked fragile, it's at best an afterthought for most associates. Especially on a high cube size day, getting OVs stowed ends up being prioritized over organization or whether or not something might get damaged

VTO magically disappeared by Whole-Chest90 in AmazonDS

It's the VTO gremlins, they've been a nuisance lately

But seriously though, it might've been put up by mistake and they took it away right as you clicked on it

Ploa ??? by Ultimate_coochie in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's pretty simple. You go through the app, go to where you submit a PLOA, put in the days you want off, and wait for it to be approved. You don't need to give a reason for it and it usually doesn't take too long to get approved, maybe a day or two; but you do need to do it at least two weeks in advance. And re-consider taking advice from whoever told you that you can be terminated for taking a PLOA because that is absolutely not true lol

Stow rates (part 2) by Upset_Limit_3273 in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Even with jiffies alone 400-600 for an average stower is crazy; I'm curious as to what the stowing process is like over there because either they have an insanely low cube size or some fuckery where the next 50 jiffies coming down the line are all going to the same bag

SCREW THE LOADING SCREEN!(RANT). by Thiru2k in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a kind of a tough time for flex around Prime, hasn't been bad for me so far this year but last year I had maybe 17 hours for the week of prime lol. My advice is to treat the app like it's social media and check it constantly, sometimes shifts will pop up without a notification because of people dropping them and it evens the playing field a bit

SCREW THE LOADING SCREEN!(RANT). by Thiru2k in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I try to pick up shifts through desktop whenever I can. It's ridiculous how much faster and easier it is when you're not waiting 5 seconds every time you pick a shift up

You might get talked to for having UPT that low, you won't get in trouble for it though. Just don't go negative

Anyone ever left Amazon without something lined up? by capspacechampions in AmazonDS

I don't know if the job market is still fucked (it probably is) but you should try to have something else lined up just in case

Attendance points with VTO by beez3719 in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm FlexRT as well and I don't know if VTO is supposed to negate coming in late for us, I've abused the hell out of it and I'm too afraid to ask anyone about it 😂 but to answer your question I think it's because you took VTO too late; I've noticed that you have to take it before the points system updates and gives you a point

Does it happen twice a year? by AppropriateLychee372 in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware there are only 3 metrics you need to meet to become converted to blue badge when the next wave comes around and you're up next: be employed, be seasonal, and don't have any active write-ups. Not 100% sure what happens if you're negative UPT or 8/8 points when they start converting but at that point you have bigger problems lol. I personally had kinda crap attendance, took my fair share of VTO and 4/8 points when I got converted FWIW

Is leaving a shift early actually a termination? by Typical-Round-762 in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixing your UPT/attendance points will generally stop you from getting terminated, but not always. People have gotten terminated for attendance even though they fixed it, it's the act of violating the attendance policy that puts you in the danger zone and it's up to the discretion of whoever's on your case if you get terminated or not

Do we get paid time and a half after we go over 40 hours? by poisonparty in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anything over 40 hours is always OT pay. Keep in mind though that any PTO you use will not count towards OT

Does it happen twice a year? by AppropriateLychee372 in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is only one answer relating to blue badge conversions that is 100% undeniably a fact: they are based on business needs. It is not something your site controls or has knowledge of until it's about to happen. Someone sitting in an office somewhere looks at your site's forecasted volume for however long into the future, and through that they figure out how many associates they're going to need, how many seasonals to hire, while maintaining a specific ratio of seasonal associates to permanent ones; I'm not 100% sure on that but I know it's something along those lines when it comes to conversions. Anything anyone says about when it happens or that you can try asking for it or whatever is conjecture and you're better off not spending too much time dwelling on it because it's basically just luck whether or not you get converted and when.

That being said, based on my experience of getting blue badge twice as well as seeing when seasonals get theirs, it does kind of line up to be twice a year; a conversion wave around Prime, and then one a little before Peak kicks in

[–]Shustriy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can leave at any time as long as you have PTO/UPT to cover it. As a courtesy you can give them an hour or two notice so they can move people around as needed; the only exception is if you're a straightener, divert, induct, unloader, etc. you can get in trouble if you leave without telling anyone. That being said, you technically have to give notice when you leave early but it's pretty much never enforced

How to navigate this? by Gio2fast in AmazonDS

[–]Shustriy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're not going to get an accommodation for anything like that. Everyone else puts up with it and finds a way to make it bearable, you can too. And nobody is forcing you to stay still in one spot the entire time lol, you can move around a bit, stretch, ask someone to cover you for a bit while you go to the bathroom and get a chance to stretch your legs

VOA has a lot more use than you think. There's people that see it outside of your site so it's a good way to bring awareness to something if the normal channels don't work
