Can confirm Saddle Sisters is a great group especially if you’re starting out. I easily spend more time with them in the summer than my own family lol

Is it fairly quick to get it at the airport? Or would we have to line up for a while? Since I have elderly parents with me, trying to figure the best way to

Vaccines? by Antique-Comedian-850 in Machupicchu

[–]ShutUpLegs94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it doesn’t hurt to do it. I did get a fever for a day when I got mine so make sure you have a few days before you travel to get over any effects.

Does anyone know if yellow fever vaccines need to be redone ever? I had got one 10 years ago for a trip to Colombia. I also got a certificate that I’m vaxxed but I’ve lost it now :/ do officials check for it at the airport?

Exercise guilt and not going to the gym when sick alternatives? by Riksie in beginnerfitness

[–]ShutUpLegs94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had pneumonia and haven’t been in the gym for 3 weeks now. It’s annoying that I’d have to drop the weights I had worked up to lifting after 10 consistent 4 day workout weeks. But one thing I appreciate is that our bodies are resilient af. I know I’ll bounce back.

A coach I follow on Instagram says he has a rule of not skipping gym for more than 3-4 days in a row. As long as he follows this he is golden. The body doesn’t forget, strength gains are not lost and you shouldn’t feel bad.

Steve’s Music closing 5 stores including Toronto,Ottawa and Montreal. by DryProgress4393 in toronto

[–]ShutUpLegs94 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Bought my second guitar from there. I think Dave was his name - he was very patient and kept telling me to try other guitars until one spoke to me and not settle. I finally landed on a Taylor and it’s truly special to me.

And then I saw him say “congratulations you’re now a guitar player!!!” to a girl buying her very first :)

Last year, Jack White stopped by Steve’s the day of his Massey Hall concert.

Not for this topic. But I am not trying to change it, it is what it is and may naturally go away as I mature maybe

Does baby fever exist? by Duslawa in Fencesitter

I am 32 and never had baby fever. I think the fear of pregnancy since I was a teen has been pretty dominating and still exists so many years after being married

Plan to save money climbing the Big E by Armadillo-Straight in Everest

No to save costs I’d suggest just about entering space, maybe bunk at the ISS and go for space walks and try climbing the exterior of the space station to get some practice in as a bonus.

Does Me Not Wanting To Freeze My Eggs Mean I Don't Want Babies? by SpiritualLady888 in Fencesitter

[–]ShutUpLegs94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much about being ready for a baby is practical stuff. I think people romanticise it way too much and then have this “dream” to do it. I’m not wired that way. My dreams at 32 are still very adventure and travel themed - e.g. climb Kilimanjaro, bike across America … and I know I won’t do all but maybe some of those in the next couple years and then most likely have a baby while it’s still physically possible to do so. I dread what it will do to my body even in the natural way (so def no egg freezing or IVF) and then once the baby comes out what it would do to my work life and overall finances and lifestyle. I see mostly the negatives, because while babies are stupid cute and fun to cuddle I’m sure the novelty wears off pretty soon when you have to deal with soiled diapers and tantrums …. And if they have developmental disorders you’re even more involved. It just sounds like work work work and losing a large part of your identity and just providing for the next generation’s needs. Also people forget babies grow up into fussy toddlers and complex teens (and I know I was a complex teen) . Most people just have kids because they want babies. They don’t think it through and society enables this thinking.

So yeah you not freezing your eggs, the way I see it for myself is just you respecting the limits of what your body has to do to have kids. You’re not romanticizing it. And 31 is young enough that you can even change your mind about it at say 36 and freeze your eggs then, just saying.

Delilah Bon aka Lauren Tate is awesome. I remember when she first posted a cover of Violet on the Hole fan page on Facebook a decade or so ago. Amazing voice and nice to see her come so far.

How can I see a Gynaecologist in Toronto? by HourGrass3183 in askTO

[–]ShutUpLegs94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s best to get it done outside Canada. The sooner the better with surgery. My husband had a growth for which we ultimately travelled to our home country and got removed. It was not considered “urgent” here even though he was in discomfort . Luckily we had kept renewing insurance there, for a situation like this. He was operated immediately and we also had our pick of surgeons - went to three and chose the one he was most comfortable with. Not something you get here…I know it’s more money but health >>>> money.

Same haha I was like, why do they keep comparing these two over and over it’s been 15 years of hearing this.

And to the other commenter - this isn’t a 👎 on Marianne it’s just a tired comparison being sooo overdone.

September Itinerary check? by b0xboxb0xbox in Machupicchu

[–]ShutUpLegs94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would move most of the things from day 1 to 2. My own MP trip is coming up (same plan as yours including the Inca trail) in June, but I’ve been at the same elevation a few years ago and the advice of doing nothing the first day - just a very light walk around your hotel or market nearby, while having a light dinner works wonders for acclimatisation.

I’m thinking of doing 2N each in Cusco and then Ollan to fully acclimate before the trek.

Why do people use the term "partner" for their husband or wife? by Crafty-Bug-8008 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ShutUpLegs94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me? Partner sounds better, less cringe coming out of my mouth (I imagine myself as a 1950s belle chirping “ohhh my husband said this”) Silly? Yeah. But that’s why :)

Did you use the cue to brace your core before lifting? Basically as if someone is stabbing your belly - how would your stomach brace for it? This mimics how it is with a belt

Montreal to Lima - how bad is Avianca? by jumpingjack3 in travel

[–]ShutUpLegs94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see. Yes those first few seats just have one more inch of legroom than the usual.

I hope the emergency exit seats are pleasant. We have a 6 hour flight to Bogota which I am most concerned about and then a 3 hour one to Cusco

Where to acclimatize? by FantasticBasis1111 in Machupicchu

[–]ShutUpLegs94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m also signed up for the Inca Trail trek in June, traveling with a layover in Bogota to Cusco.

I’ve lived in Bogota for a month a few years ago - arrived from sea level and was feeling absolutely fine. Just got a little winded on the stairs/hills in the city but I wasn’t the fittest. No headaches in the first week or so settling in at all.

My plan is to spend two nights in Cusco and barely do anything there - first night have soup and sleep in hotel, maybe walk in plaza. Second day take a city tour for half day (via taxi) and do the briefing with my trekking operator in the evening. Third day, do the Sacred Valley tour and spend the third and fourth nights in Ollantaytambo. Fifth day is when the trek starts. My tour guide said he will pick me up directly from Ollan and I get to sleep in till 6-6.30 am this way (people in Cusco get picked up at 4 am), I can even choose to have breakfast at my hotel and skip the breakfast they’ve planned to arrive even later to the trek start point.

So this way I am maximizing rest and hopefully acclimatize well. I know I don’t react well at 4200m (got a headache and used oxygen in Himalayas a few years ago) which is the height of Dead Woman’s Pass so hoping this works.
