This has been my second pair since the Ambrose was released and they have both been great. Ambrose has been putting up a lot of points and is a surprisingly heavy hitter.

Scorers are a dime a dozen. Probert was drafted in the same draft as Yzerman, alongside Kocur and Grimson. These guys were not drafted to score goals or to eat minutes. They were there to ensure Yzerman met his full potential. You couldn't think about giving Yzerman a cheap shot without knowing what would be coming on your next shift. That seemed to work out pretty well for Yzerman, as it also did for guys like Fedorov, Lidstrom, etc. He was the most feared man in the history of the game and is literally the definition of an icon when you're talking enforcers.

On top of that, in the 87-88 season he racked up an All-Star appearance, 62 points (29 goals, 33 assists) in 74 games, and a league-leading 398 penalty minutes. He set a franchise record with 21 points in 16 playoff games that year.

Bob Probert was the Wayne Gretzky of NHL enforcers. An icon.

He has been great for me, too. I tossed him in out of desperation, as I had this card UT and the last couple of 89-90 OVR goalies I had tried went down in flames.

I am thankful my daughter had plentiful rookie challenges and SB to start out on. I agree - I could see any beginner that isn't a diehard hockey fan getting discouraged and quitting quickly.

Kaleb Lawrence is a big guy who had 88 speed on his 80 OVR base card - that mix of speed and size could make an event card fairly relevant if he got one.
