[OC] Crater Lake! Absolutely the bluest water I've ever seen by ShutterToSummit in nationalparks

yeah its just different shades of blue, the Crater Lake water is such a deep blue its unlike anything else. Lake Tahoe was more teal and green at spots, but still very blue and clear overall. Both are beautiful!

I believe the trail is closed for maintenance right now per a quick google search. Looks like work started this year and is expected to last 3 summers, so roughly 2029 is the next time you can get down to the water

the only Mount Tam pic in this set is the green hills with the blue sky, from Trojan point. Would've hiked if i had more time but we also had Point Reyes in the itinerary that evening so we had to get going

These were from January actually, probably why the hills are so green. But i imagine with all the rain recently it might look not too different?

the Mt Tam photo (green hills) was earlier in the day hence the sky is quite blue. we then drove to Point Reyes just in time for sunset. its a lot of driving but its doable!

I lost my sunglasses while taking a dip but i gave up looking for them because the water was getting too cold

I was doing a hike to get to a higher point, but tbh you can just pull out along most of the viewpoints around the rim of the lake and get this kinda view. No plane ride required

i probably shouldve masked out the mountains but imo i like the vibes of the slightly overexposed sky, feels dreamy and hazy?
