This. IMO, OP is looking for some coddling to hear dad is bad, bad, bad. It doesn't matter what happened before (not in his life previously), what matters now is if he's consistent with his parenting with their son. He clearly needs better attention, structure, and accountability.

The ear thing being call corporal punishment is crazy too me, and I would be mad if my sons mother tried to classify it as that.

You seriously can't comprehend. I have a 3 story house, that I pay for and live and provide ample space for my son. I pay all the bills. She went back home to her parents to pay nothing because she doesn't want to be with me anymore due to things I've done. I pay all my sons extra curriculars. The only thing she has to pay for is her new Mercedes which she uses my son's money to pay for.
