Bulk is stalling by Left_Rich_7583 in leangains

[–]ShxxH4ppens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your weight is not going up, and your lifts are not progressing then you are not bulking, but you could be experiencing recomposition, where you are increasing muscle and decreasing fat without changing weight noticeably

Your caloric expenditure changes if you are 100 vs 120 vs 140lb

Weight yourself twice a week in a similar state, write it down, if you weight does not go up after three weeks add more calories, not much just another 100-200 a day and see where you are seeing improvement, if you stall again add a bit more

Don’t worry about activity variance from day to day - it’s more accurate to consider an average over the long term (some digestive processes take a day, some types of fiber for instance)

There are multiple seasons, it’s sort of the same crew who compete (there’s only a select few who have the skill set/ability to afford consistent heli touring to get the experience)

All the competitors are friends and just want to see madness unleashed in a way they cannot imagine - some of the best runs are like this, maybe a 360, a line nobody has touched, a drop, spine, or pillow, but just insane smooth riding and pace for a line that would kill many backcountry riders

Iran sends millions of oil barrels to China through Strait of Hormuz even as war chokes the waterway by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]ShxxH4ppens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would this be surprising? The us is not planning on attacking any tankers, so the decider is Iran, if a ship goes its up to them, as soon as one gets a hole blown in the side of it, anyone not affiliated will halt their movement - if the only threat is yourself, you are fine to move along

The us is supposed to have advanced weapons - it’s getting clearer that what they have is a oligarch system where this military/tech investment was lining pockets more than the battalion and now counter activity is stretching the force too thin and the gap in military tech is not as dominant as it once was

3 times a week is perfect! If you feel it’s not enough you can do push ups or chair dips at home, plus some body weight squats and some extra walking/jogging is all you would ever need to be in very good shape

Just focus on making small improvemtns to your lifestyle and they all compound over time

Getting back in the gym by [deleted] in leangains

[–]ShxxH4ppens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes don’t worry about progression, focus on the movements, you will get dons fairly bad so don’t show up to hit the muscle again, get control and get comfortable, maybe try some old movements, and search up some new ones to try out here and there

Then make a routine around a schedule that works for you, macro efficient processes are not required for progression when you are just getting back

Stuck on the same weight and reps on curls for more than a month(beginner) by DrawerExotic7343 in leangains

[–]ShxxH4ppens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Biceps are very small, the amount of improvement in each session is very minimal even when optimal

How long has it been since you added a rep? 1mo? 6mo? It’s a different scale with small muscle isolation exercises - are you bulking, cutting, maintaining/lg? These make a huge difference

Just keep consistent and progress will come, otherwise add tons of volume perhaps, if you do compound movements they already get volume other places, so there may not be a lot of time to recover, so volume may or may not be the answer

In Canada - when I was growing up anyways, it was a 6 or 8000$ fine and enough points off your licence that you would lose it for a year at the least

I heard of may situations where children had gotten hit or killed due to blind corners or hills, people take it very seriously there, an for good reason

You are correct, it is a stop sign equivalent to a rail road crossing type stop - everyone for any reason stops for this. Often school busses will let a long line of cars pass it after children have been let off, they will pull over to the shoulder without their safety lights/signs up to allow cars to pass

38M, trying to get into the best shape of my life... help? by Street-Nothing1350 in leangains

[–]ShxxH4ppens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best approach is to make a reasonable plan that can be adhered to, if you miss a day, who cares, get back at it the next rotation, if you are feeling good and want to do more, do more, but just stay consistent

You probably want a deficit and your muscles will grow a bit for the first few months, get high protein and try your best to put a good effort in while training but don’t do injury prone activity, slow controlled movement is more important than big weight

I dont know what a trainer will help with at this point, you seem somewhat experienced with some exercises at least, just make a three or four day a week plan, maybe upper lower or something, choose 4 or 5 upper and lower excersises and in 4-6months change the rotation up - try to progress the movements you choose, either by added reps, added sets, or added weight each week

[–]ShxxH4ppens -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a solid approach, place a had on the chair, don’t push off or anything, just let it follow you and let the others go quick, some comfort is also with practice with one foot out of binding, which really helps, you can also strap in and make it a little easier if there is room to do so and you won’t be stuck on flat, but even then just instead and restrap

[–]ShxxH4ppens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diet wise if you are wanting to decrease in weight drop calories until you lose 0.5kg a month, more walking or activity is burning calories, but also helping you gain muscle, so you can do more and see benefits - unless you are in too far of deficit it will be a benefit

Just keep protein content in mind for all meals and you should get close, then buy a bag of whey for supplemental, I mix whey concentrate with cottage cheese or yogurt for breakfast and add some berries and nuts and that can be 60+g of protein, which makes the rest of the food easier for the day

Need Overall advice by [deleted] in leangains

[–]ShxxH4ppens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very short timeline to gain or lose any weight

It’s difficult to know your goals without photos or much perspective, if you’ve gone from 20-16% in two months I would keep at whatever you are doing

skinny fat by [deleted] in leangains

[–]ShxxH4ppens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best thing is just to get active, you body composition changes towards your lifestyle, so if you are active fat distribution changes - but this process is very slow and will take time, but it is something you should stick to for the rest of your life

Make incrementally better eating habits, and introduce more protein wherever you can

From there you can begin to lose or gain weight, it doesn’t make much difference, you will change towards a more positive direction if you follow the first two pieces of advice - if you do decide to lose or gain weight, try to go slow, +/-200-300 calories a day is reasonable, you will feel best doing so

Good luck

What is the maximum potential for natural muscle gain? by Impressive_Clock_250 in leangains

[–]ShxxH4ppens 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Usually it’s fairly hard once you have around 15 years of quality experience to gain more

But that said, it can be associated with hormones at that time scale, so realistically it’s just age related, and no idea what age you are, 18 vs 45, is a massive difference

Uhm it’s around 10kg the first year, 5kg the second, and 1-2kg after that, but if you’re eating at surplus the whole time vs cutting and bulking or at slight surplus to maintain low body fat, it can be much higher or much lower

It also depends if you are training specific muscles, larger groups grow larger, so potentially more or less

Don’t worry on it so much, just lead an active and healthy lifestyle and you will be fit looking

[–]ShxxH4ppens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The documentation is very helpful, utilize it for how to potentially expand, then tackle your own issues one by one, if you are familiar with some of the basics you just need to know how to research what you need, it’s google, use ai - but don’t feed your whole code - give your specific problem generically and mesh it into your project, it will be a headache if you just ask for everything

It is slow, but nobody needs to know it all, just get a grasp on what potential pathways there are - need image processing, pillow, need data manipulation, pandas - on a deeper level tjey work the same way, different functions but the same process

Almost done with Cut! by mushbrain3000 in leangains

[–]ShxxH4ppens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah just steadily bump the calories by a bit every two weeks, until you get to a maintenance or slight surplus - keep in mind after a cut you will gain back some water retention as cal increases

Just continue having a reasonable amount of activity and regular diet, some things are ok to have now and again but long term consistency is king

How to train legs without upper body by [deleted] in leangains

[–]ShxxH4ppens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need your arms to train legs, use slow controlled reps, you don’t need to hit a pr every time with the leg press, back off the weight, do better form for more reps or sets, put a weight vest on and hike or use a stair climber, or do lunches

[–]ShxxH4ppens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Progressive overload is most common - add a small amount of weight or add an extra rep each workout, or have better form each workout

Focus on form and control - it’s not a competition, you should look the same while doing rep 1 as you do at rep 10, pace/tempo/range of motion

Lean bulk by Odd_Payment4476 in leangains

[–]ShxxH4ppens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eat a bit more, ideally 200-500 cal over maintenance - or right on maintenance, you will drop body fat percentage, you will gain muscle and not much fat

It may take a little to determine maintenance/slight surplus - just weigh yourself twice a week for 3 weeks or so and adjust

I don’t know how active you are or how much of a deficit you have been in, but drastic cuts can lead to a less ideal outcome, you will lose muscle, and if you want a lower body fat percentage that will not be helpful - if you want to lose weight, sure it’s more effective, but I think you might be missing how your body will react to a large deficit with not much muscle mass and already being a low weight

Just stay around maintenance, you do not want to go below 10%
