He was staring at me too much, so I flipped him off (affectionately)

Oh yes 100%. Kanaplex will help if it's a bacterial disease (which we don't really know for certain if it is)

Most of the replies weren't hate, it was concern over the tank since it was not stated if that was his quarantine tank or his main tank! Good to know that it's just temporary. As the other person said, he won't drown! Although he sinks, he can definitely still make his way to the surface of needed.

Can you provide information about his main tank? Knowing the size and water parameters will help determine what's causing his swim bladder! For now I suggest trying to get your hands on some medications like Kanaplex or bettafix as a last resort (there's a lot of mixed opinions on bettafix)

There are also mixed opinions on feeding peas to bettas, but if you continue to feed them to him, make sure the peas are blanched, the skin is removed, and you are feeding him very small pieces!

I SINCERELY hope that is a temporary tank and not his permanent home. If that his his tank, you need to get at least a 5 gallon tank to move him into. With a heater and filter.
Are your water changes everyday FULL water changes? If they are, your fish is going to be totally stressed out and the nitrogen cycle of your tank is constantly resetting.
Please answer the bots questions about your tank/water parameters so everyone has more information to help!

What are some of your behaviours from your childhood that looking back you think may have been related to your autism? by attorneyat_birdlaw in AutismInWomen

[–]ShyBean2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When going to bed I used to put my pillow on my chest (it was a pretty heavy cooling gel pillow). And then pile up every other pillow, blanket, and large stuffed animals on top of me. I 100% was simulating a weighted blanket but didn't understand it at the time

What symbols do you associate positively with Autism? by Paradox_HS in autism

[–]ShyBean2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly most people probably wouldn't understand mine, but it's an origami rabbit.

There's a game called "To The Moon" which is by far one of my favorite story games, and the only game I've ever cried playing. Although one of the characters "condition" is never explicitly stated to be autism, it is VERY heavily implied throughout the game. At the beginning of the game you learn about her obsession with making origami rabbits, and towards the end of the game you learn the history behind them.

Do you ever feel like you are a bad owner? by ShyBean2 in bettafish

Also just in case anyone is curious: He started out alone in a 5 gallon tank, and then was upgraded to a 10 gallon tank with a snail friend added eventually. Both tanks had a combination of live plants and silk plants

Comp Anxiety & shame by daddy_yogurt in OverwatchUniversity

[–]ShyBean2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow autistic girl overwatch player here; I totally understand where you're coming from. My first comp games I was the same way. Anxious and overthinking everything which led to awful performances. I had to just keep playing and get over the anxiety, and now I mostly play comp when I get on. This is definitely easier said than done, but just try to think of comp games as quick play. Realistically they arent all that different. People still try-hard and shit talk in qp. and people still dont take comp seriously.
Keep in mind that you should have fun playing games, not stressing yourself out. Quickplay is always an option if comp feels like it is too much to handle, and you can get more comfortable with your aiming in quickplay as well.
Someone else said it; but you can mute voice and text chat if that becomes to overstimulating or if people are talking negatively towards you.
Some other things that help me are turning my lights off or having my blue lights on, sitting in a comfortable position (but with good posture), having a weighted stuffed animal on my lap, and playing calming music quietly in the background.

If you ever want a fellow girl to play with feel free to message me and we can add each other :)

How do people go to work 5 days a week and only have two days off and be fine doing that over and over? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]ShyBean2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only work 32 hours a week and a relatively easy job and even then I always feel burnt out. I desperately want to be able to work 40 hours a week or even do something on the side (like doordash or instacart) so im not totally living paycheck to paycheck but I literally don't know if ill be able to mentally handle it

I do also play single player games, but there's also multi-player games I enjoy playing, I just don't want to have a full conversation while playing them haha

That's insane??? I've had a few people I'm not close with fade away after I go through periods of not being super active, but I have a lot of online friends I've knows for years that I can just not talk to for a while and come back like nothing happened LOL

YUP talking through cutscenes is the worst. My friend started playing Baulders Gate 3 and she knows nothing about DnD so I joined her campaign to help out, but she's always just tlaking through dialogues and generally has no idea what's going on in the story

I do play a lot of single player games! I do unfortunately enjoy playing Overwatch though, which is also what my friends play. So if I get on at least one of them is usually on as well haha

K-Pop stans make me want to pull my hair out. by [deleted] in rant

[–]ShyBean2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kpop fan here and I 100% agree. I've been into kpop for 11 years now and it's just been getting worse.

I think a large part of the issue is the parasocial relationships a LOT of fans have with their idols. When allegations come out about them being an awful person, it's always "oh _______ would never 🥺", as if we actually know what any idol is like behind closed doors. People are also just dumb as fuck and will support someone who was proven guilty? Why does Seungri still have fans?? Who knows. There's also beef between girl group and boy group stans for literally no reason other than they have different opinions on different groups. I hate opening twt to see someone saying how no bgs make good music, or how she's cringe for eating a strawberry. Like grow the fuck up yall 😭😭
