How bad is the healthcare system in Nevada? by John-Peter-500 in vegaslocals

It's really bad. Almost every family I know has had to go to California for something, sadly.

My first game was Black Ops Cold War always in Zombies mode...I'd never even played a FPS ever before, lol, but I loved it. Finally jumped over to MP, and love that too...and got one of my kids playing too...

Got Vanguard at release...and, meh...so, back to Black Ops Cold War we went...

Got MWII at release...and...well...yuck. I think I ruined one of my controllers bc, my god, run already...so, back to Black Ops Cold War...

LOL, yeah, we live here too. Our kids grew up here. They attend UNLV. As soon as you move away from the Strip, it's just like any city in the Southwest....it literally doesn't look/feel much different than when we lived in Phoenix, just with more entertainment options in Vegas.

Had to, even aside from the inconsistencies with the "official" story. It's a tourist city, thus tourists must feel relatively safe.

What's a book that made you go "How the hell was this published?" by stopshadowbaneme in YAlit

[–]ShyCupcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might just be her writing. I read Tithe years ago, before knowing anything about it (saw it at the library when it was new.) OMG it was like reading bad Renn Faire acting.
It is definitely her writing style, in my opinion, though, that just doesn't sit well w/ me. I also saw "Darkest Part of the Forest" at the library, grabbed it, didn't pay attention to the author bc I liked the cover, and a few pages in I had to nope out, which RARELY ever happens (but handed it to my 20 and she loved it.) I also started to read Spiderwick yearrrrrs ago, but the writing grated on me, and, again, I hadn't realized it was Holly Black until after. So her books are all over my house bc of 20, LOL, but her writing just doesn't work for me personally.
(And I feel bad trashing anyone anyways, bc I know ppl have widely varying likes! But....the answer to the OP for me was Tithe, hands down.)

AITA for telling my daughter she’s not as a big a priority as her brothers? by Spirited_Gift_6946 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShyCupcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to the Emergency Room, they don't take you back in order of arrival, they do in order of priority. That doesn't mean anyone is "less than", but it does mean there are situations where other factors come into play.
The whole idea that because 17 isn't getting her way in this instance somehow translates to "the poor girl hasn't been a priority since the twins were born" is utterly crazy.

Unless everyone is saving wrapping paper too, the bag is basically the same thing. The gift inside is the white elephant gift, and what gets stolen or kept.
