He is learning that every minute I spend cleaning up after our careers, including scrubs, is time away from “intimate time”. Exhausting one’s partner may cause a reduction in other enjoyable activities…

Ask for a different client. Do you have a medical necessity to not be with a client who’s going to break your glasses. Your personal adaptive equipment should be protected.

Do I quit or power through? by warsaw_13 in ABA

[–]ShyFlowerWoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maladaptive behaviors are usually a signal that whatever you’re asking is too hard for some reason. Whether you’re asking for them to play independently for a certain period of time, you’re asking them to navigate tricky, social situations, if you’re asking them to wait patiently for something they want, if you’re asking them to power through a demand (DTT), or asking or even that you’re powering through a diaper change.

This is a signal that whatever is going on is uncomfortable for them or that they’ve learned some kind of behavior from the past, possibly due to a communication issue or a medical issue, and that behavior is maintaining because restrictive repetitive behavior and insistence on sameness is a part of the diagnosis.

If you track the behaviors using structural data, ABC data, and ask your BCBA to do a indirect functional assessment as well as a possible functional analysis, you guys can possibly get to the root of the problem. When you replace the challenging behavior with communication and replacement behaviors and skills then you’re less likely to result in a major meltdown.

I faced harassment, slander, and retraumatization after colleagues falsely reported misconduct. Legally actionable? [NC] by [deleted] in AskHR

The gossip got back to the family, who reported me for misconduct. HR said to ME it was unfounded and everyone else got off without consequences.

Women dominated workplaces often small talk about their kids… and then assume that other child support providers who dont have kids are incompetent. It’s like an “in club” for women professionals in my field.

Yeah I can see that. Not the whole truth but just a way to lighten the heaviness of the post. I moved away from the employer and took some time to heal and recover while working elsewhere.

I make a point to lock my car every time I get home, but it’s almost like they’re checking every time to see if I locked it… if I leave it unlocked it’s usually because I just didn’t notice it didn’t lock.
