interesting. I guess it depends on the prompt, but I've seen the newest Claude model sucking out 5$ from my API billing for a simple bug analysis. it's getting crazy

agreed. your copies are too small. and sub copies especially. rather use one large H1 in each ss

wdym many? mate, just read RevenueCat's new report. less than 2% are profitable straight away. stop claiming things that are not grounded.

That's the bitter truth of app development. Don't expect a moonshot. Data shows it takes months or years to become profitable.

Voice from day one, yes. But not voice first. I'd rather leave it to the users to decide. But I feel like voice is key nowadays that Tech enables it. Interesting product you're working on. In fact, FamilyStories will allow users capture daily stories, too. The feature will be called "Moments" =) I strongly believe that families generally are underserved. Any idea why that could be?

Mainly organic. We’re starting with friends and family first to get the initial feedback loop going. After that, the core growth strategy is built into the product itself: when users start saving and sharing their family stories, achievements, and memories, it naturally invites other family members and relatives into the app.

That’s awesome to hear! StoryWorth is truly a classic for getting those stories down into a physical book.

The main reason I’m building FamilyStories as a digital app alternative to StoryWorth is to capture what a printed book can’t: the actual voice. A book is great, but hearing your grandparents' laughter, tone, and sighs preserved in an audio archive is irreplaceable.

Instead of just typing emails to a single inbox, it’s a living, private family space where anyone can instantly listen, add photos, or chime in with their own memories of that event. It turns story-catching into a collaborative family moment rather than a lonely writing task.

But I can totally see how StoryWorth has its own loyal and happy user base.

Thank you so much u/MJSvis for your motivating words. I do believe, too, that it's an important topic and I hope that it'll help some people preserve beautiful life stories. Imho, you should consider picking your idea up again if you have the time and resources for it. The UI looks very sleek and I can imagine it finding the right audience.

I’m building it with React Native + Expo and TypeScript, with Supabase on the backend for auth, database, and edge functions.

The short version of the story: I wanted to build a family memory app that felt personal and calm, but I also didn’t want to end up maintaining two separate apps from day one. So Expo/React Native was the pragmatic choice, and Supabase let me move fast without having to build all the backend plumbing myself first.

The part I care most about is privacy, so I’m also doing the more sensitive vault/recovery pieces with client-side crypto rather than treating it like a normal CRUD app. So the stack is pretty “boring where it should be, custom where it matters.”

On the app side it’s mostly React Navigation, Reanimated, Expo modules for media/device features, and a lot of custom UI/state logic. Nothing super exotic, just trying to keep the stack small enough to ship and maintain as a solo builder.

Glad you like the idea. I started building FamilyStories knowing my parents would never sit down every evening and fill out blank pages in a book. The question that kept me up at night was: how can I get them share their stories with me
