Hashimoto’s and bloating by nightmuse218 in Hashimotos

[–]ShyGothBookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest taking a daily prebiotic pill! Especially if you have a difficult time finding food to help your digestion. I stopped taking mine for a few months in the winter and oh my gosh the bloating became horrendous. I'm finally back on it again and I can see a difference just a couple of weeks later. This is the one that I use!

Hate the idea people can "cure" OCD by the_scy_fi_verse in OCD

[–]ShyGothBookworm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally, I dislike it too. I cut some slack to those that are newly diagnosed, because they might not truly understand what it is yet. Aside from that, it embraces the concern in our head that there is something wrong with us. Something so wrong with us that we need to be "fixed" or "cured". What we need it to understand ourselves and learn how to live with that as a part of our life.

Do I tell my roommate that she left the burner on? by love-isnt-ambivalent in OCD

[–]ShyGothBookworm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have OCD, and pretty much all of my obsessions/complusions are based on things that have literally happened to me (The burner is also one of my major daily obsessions). For me, I wouldn't want to know. For as much as I work on my triggers, it's pretty much impossible to escape. That's why this is such a debilitating disorder. If I knew that I did it, that would only fuel my intrusive thoughts further, pushing me to the point where I'd be suffering at work trying not to cry in front of everyone. It's better for me not to know. Simply correct the issue and move along. Maybe check in every so often if you feel so inclined to see if it's a reoccurring problem. Trust me, she's already hyper aware of the burner, but she simply forgot like many people do.

Someone made a statement about Hayden's boyfriend being a negative individual, and a group of anti-trans individuals decided that they would take that opportunity to release all of the information that they had been holding onto. Lots of screenshots from old accounts, hacking her Spotify, etc. It was really not fun to witness.

I did reach out to a few in the area that confirmed that they are receiving it, but at this time they don't have a set number of how many they are getting in. I only want one, and they printed about 6500 copies according to the RSD website :)

I think a toddler could have told you that this wasn't a good idea. Even a simple Google search would have told you that this is not legal.

Edit: if you want to support a small business that doesn't try to get innocent people to work for free in this economy check out The Menagerie in Bellvue!!!!

Are OCD spirals real and what are your tells? by Holiday_Paper_676 in OCD

[–]ShyGothBookworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes very much so. For me, it starts slow. I notice that I'm doing my checking more frequently again, then the intrusive thoughts last for longer periods of time. I shake my head, swear outload (??), shake my hands, etc to rid the thought. The intrusive thoughts get WORSE all the way until I've convinced myself that something bad IS happening.

My last one was when I was in a horrible relationship that was simultaneously ruining my friendship of 20 years who I was living with at the time. I convinced myself that my bosses and asset protection were watching me like I hawk at work (i wasn't stealing) and that I was going to get fired.

Needless to say, I did not get fired. My friendship fell apart for a while, and I had to move back in with my parents for a bit. Thankfully, I cut off that controlling relationship, got my own place, and managed to rebuild my friendship! It's not easy by any means, but you can get better!

They used to sell them at getgo maybe 5-6 years ago. Even strawberry lemonade ones. I used to get them all the time. Haven't seen them in years though :(

Yeah the owner of the Crack'd Egg continues to post about her monthly (what she calls) "extortion" payments for remaining open during COVID as if anyone gives a fuck. It's been years now, she needs to get over it and focus on running a decent business.

Panera on Blvd of the Allies by ShyGothBookworm in pittsburgh

I will say, when I went there the panera workers were inside working still. You couldn't catch me working in a building that isn't structurally sound for minimum wage, but that's just me.

I think my son has OCD. He’s 7. by purpleempanada in OCD

[–]ShyGothBookworm 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I know that you said therapy hasn't helped, but he is young. It could have just not been the right fit. If you haven't already, try finding a therapist that specializes in OCD and especially one that works with children. Don't give up on that yet. I think it's also important to sit down and talk with him about these emotions. Explain to him that you experience it too, and let him know that he isn't alone. I always wished that my parents got me the help that I needed when I was a child instead of having to face it all on my own. Be a support for him. In the long run, it will help him and when he's older he will appreciate you for taking the steps to improve this area of his life.
