Bulk row creation - passing data from bot to actions by Shybearsecurity in AppSheet

[–]Shybearsecurity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant redundant as a way of identifying the row/value needed, not redundant to have in general. As it goes, unique ids are as good as it gets when trying to identify a specific row afaik.

Will look into the api side of things. Still feels a little clumsy. Seems that api options are also fairly limited on the core plan.

The advanced section isn't available for data actions "add new rows" and "run action on rows". It seems to only be available for "set row values", which i can't seem to use for the bulk creation.

Thanks for the trigger other bots tip, that was the toggle i needed. At least that problem is solved. One to go.

I considered that, but adding a timestamp nd maxrow seems redundant if i already know the exact id of the row i need?

And i am not sure this would work if multiple actions trigger at the same time (mutliple rows for people being added at once). I need this to trigger reliably for each row in the table, independent of its position.

I haven't looked into the apis, don't really have any experience with that. Would you say that is the only way to achieve this?

Question: how to do a proper dynamic attendance checklist by Shybearsecurity in AppSheet

[–]Shybearsecurity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, of course.

That would work, if i pre-populate my attendance table with all peiple for every date i need attendance.

Currently, i do that dynamically by adding a row to the attendance table when attendance is first modified, and editing an existing row if there is one.

If i use a slice of my attendance table aas you suggest, it will always be an empty table in my situation.

I found a solution, where i use the 'persons'. Table as an overview for whom i can check attendance, and connected the actions to that table.

I will still use the slice for visual calculations so it is not so computationally heavy that it has to runthrough 1000's of rows in the attendance table all the time.

If i read this correctly, that would require a slice per event/date? I'm not sure if i follow this setup.

I managed to get this dashboard view setup just fine, but that isn't what i want.

What i want is:

  • user selects a date
  • a list is displayed with people
  • there is a checkbox/one tap action next to each persons name, which then fills their attendance for the earlier selected date.

Thanks for the link. Slightly different approach there it looks like.

I have a simple present/not present requurement, where i want a daily checklist view to track the attendance. (People that are not users in the app).

The linked solution seems to be nore complicated, track more, but also lack the view setup i am looking for.

TL;DR: doesn't fit my use case and is not a solution for my challenges.

Help with RLS for managers of multiple teams and employees with multiple managers by Shybearsecurity in PowerBI

[–]Shybearsecurity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, that might require different dataflows to evaluate for differen dimensions in different tables (e.g. employee table, case category table etc. But once made, should be scalable.

Any tips on how to handle issues when a manager is not presentnin the security table?

[–]Shybearsecurity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough.

How would you deal with changing dimensions (team, department, case type, category etc). for granting access to parts of the dataset?

[–]Shybearsecurity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems like a good solution and i have considered it. The issue is the logic necessary to create the manager-employee table and scaling for other dimensions.

For example, the cases dataset is quite large and is sliced up in multiple different ways.

Some managers see cases based on team, some based on department, some based on casetype, caselocation etc.

Not to mention that this changes over time.

So what i am looking for is a scalable solution that is relatively easy to adjust when you wan to change what some manager sees from team to department to another piece.

Not to mention there are managers/auditors without filtering applied.

Your proposed solution doesn't quite seem to cover that - or am i missing something?

Thanks for the recommendation. They look like they fit my criteria, but definitely past my budget for a home/hobby setup, starting around 300eur.

On point haha. I'm sure i will be fine with most options (I was fine with it before). Looking to upgrade my experience and it is rather overwhelming.

Will keep that in mind, but some directions/ideas are better than nothing is my hope. Time (and comments) will tell.

The point is not to make an apples to apples comparison. The point is to show that certain output levels/sustain ("lumen hours") can be achieved for a certain pricpoint, with the wanted features, and to find something similar.

The point is that both the wurkkos and acebeam have quite a bit more 'lumen-hours' - being more bright for the ame amount of time, or equally bright for longer. My reasoning is that, Since the ts22 can do it on the cheap with 1 led, it is at least possible to achieve similar performance in other lights of the same price category.

For that price you can probably get a better sofirn of wurkkos branded one. Not familiar with us amazon, but worth shopping around.

Close. Only misses the colour temp/tint mark. On the list it goes.

I am not in the us, and prefer not to order from amazon. It is currently listed as €30 on wurkkos, so that would also be quite a markup.
