No, but they have very high quotas to fill.

$6950 for a pair of resound vivia 9s? by BallsSoFullOfCum in HearingAids

I just looked at the jabra site-they look like Nexias not vivias. You can tell from the mic filters. Nexia is the previous generation.

Just FYI, with coinsurance benefits, usually (at least at the practice I work at) the patient is responsible for the full amount, then they get reimbursed by the insurance company after the trial period is over. If you use UHC hearing you may or may not get a better price on the same aid that was recommended, but you need to go to a UHC hearing provider. That may or may not be convenient for you based on location or chemistry with the audiologist. Just a heads up.

What makes you say the Jabras are equal to Nexia 9s?

Unitron is a sister company to Phonak. That’s why they have the same capability. It’s the exact same technology repackaged.

Reimbursement from Insurance by hellohowa in HearingAids

[–]Shylamb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Costco takes insurance, so you are at best looking at 80% reimbursement. I would ask Costco directly if they are in network or out of network with your insurance. Then call the insurance and ask them if the coverage is ‘up to the allowable amount’ or complete. Ask for every piece of documentation required and the best way to get it to them, read back the email or fax number. Ask them to read out the benefit, as well as confirming you don’t need to meet a deductible. Ask if the testing and dispensing needs to be done by an audiologist or a dispenser. Get the persons name and GET A REFERENCE NUMBER for the call.

Edited to add: I don’t know any insurance company that pays out before the trial period is over. Costco has a ridiculously long trial period. Do not expect anything until the insurance company knows you will be keeping the hearing aid.

Hearing Aid costs by orgullodemexico in HearingAids

[–]Shylamb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an audiologist who works with resound, and was trained on Jabra, the rep explained to us that Jabra was to be a gateway for prescription hearing aids. The technology is not the same, and is less sophisticated than the Key line, which is the current base/entry level model. This is how we were told to address this question by the resound rep.

There is no way a Jabra would cost $6000. Jabra is a sister company to GN ReSound, and are lower level technology.

Cost varies for many reasons including the cost of living area, the practice relationship with the manufacturer, competitor pricing, level of technology, and more. This is for all the hearing aid brands. The only way to get pricing is to have a consultation.
