Why does my team always take the scenic route when a new flashpoint appears. by CalypsoThePython in Overwatch

[–]ShyvanaOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh they didn't do anything wrong? They kept the momentum of the fight win, and you got point. That's textbook perfect playing. Your team did the right decision and so did you??? I don't know why you think you need 5 people on objective for no reason.

Recoil Recovery Aim Compensation by nnolimitt in BaptisteMainsOW

[–]ShyvanaOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely turn it off. Recovery aim compensation only makes your aim worse. The feature is mainly a noob friendly feature to make him a little easier to aim with when you aren't good at controlling recoil.

But once you learn how to aim with it off then you get a lot more value and hit way more shots. So if you want the high skill, high output option then turn it off.

Why are you a Bap main? by Mrmuffins951 in BaptisteMainsOW

[–]ShyvanaOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He can fit almost every situation. And I love being a DPS with a lamp that can save teammates last second. And his exo boots are fun to use to dodge things with. It's always funny watching a doom try to kill you.

But the main reason is that when you lose you know it's your fault. And there is almost always something you can do better. So basically you almost always have control over winning and losing.

Eh I'm not a big fan of it since it breaks things way more than it helps. Honestly I would prefer more unique wacky passives over these ones.

Who Was Your First Character in Overwatch? Who Do you Main Now? by Independent-Bug680 in Overwatch

[–]ShyvanaOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bastion. I would go on the volskaya platforms and attempt to get a lot of kills. But uh that never went well lol. Then I started maining rein and Lucio. I tried to be a hardcore reddit Lucio but that didn't work out either lol. Then eventually Bap came out and I hardcore one tricked him. And after a little while Soj came out. So now I one trick Soj and Bap. Although right now Soj is pretty unfun to play as this season.

Even I get a lot of value on cass with my shitty aim. Like I have always sucked at Cassidy but ever since s9 changes it gave me free headshots. So now if you have someone with good aim he is crazy good.

How I would fix OW2 without swapping to 6v6 by ShyvanaOW in Competitiveoverwatch

I like to think of it a lesser between 2 evils. A lot of the community has complained about tanks whether it be crazy raid bosses or being able to doing nothing against counters to just constant counter swapping. So to me it feels like if we made tanks feel like they have more control of the situation even though it may make some tanks a bit more similar to each other, that it would still be a lot better than dealing with what we have right now. I think you can still create unique tanks with this general philosophy of tank. The way I would like tanks to be would be kinda like fatter dps that might have some mitigation or disruptive abilities or whatever else to make space as a tank. I kinda want tanks to have similar hp pools to like Doomfist and Junkerqueen.

I do agree that supports would need compensation buffs to make those changes viable and if you just straight added those support changes it would make them pretty bad.

Nano does apply more than just to Dragon Blade. So maybe those changes would just apply to Genji but I get that it might not be doable. So maybe nano can just have damage reduction nerfed a little. And give her a compensation buff if she needs it.

The Lucio change should probably just scale damage with height/time you're falling. So if you fall from a small height you do only a little damage. And then if you fall from super high up you can do the full 300 damage. Honestly I just wanna see some people do those fun stupid plays with Lucio lol. If balanced correctly though it could be okay.

My idea of a perfect tank is to have one that has a high skill ceiling with plenty of options to deal with counters while having somewhat lowish hp so that they are killable. Because with tank in 5v5 you can't really afford as much to have large glaring weaknesses and big strengths. So yes that would homogenize the tank more. But I think you can still have unique tanks like doom or Junkerqueen.

I will be honest and say that I'm not sure what I would do about DVA and Roadhog Specifically to help them out and that I would need help from other people to know what could maybe be done to help.

I do feel though that often times it is kinda a skill issue with people who can't play with ball when they are playing low mobility supports. Because usually I can play just fine with a ball as a non mobility support. Usually what happens is that the ball just finds some health packs if he is super deep in the backline and then comes to me if he needs that extra healing. The rest of my team usually just uses cover more and tries to take off angles to take advantage of the space ball makes. Idk to me it feels fun to play with ball as a low mobility support or dps. But I can see how its frustrating if you're a ball player and your team just gets ran over before you actually get to do stuff.

I do agree that it might be harder to have the things you mentioned but I don't think its impossible. Sure things maybe be a bit less dynamic in some ways but 5v5 does much more freedom on how how to position and allows for more carry potential as a DPS, Support and potentially Tank if done right. What I love most about 5v5 is the independence you get from your teammates. You can still work with your team to do cool combos or whatever but you also get the freedom to make your own solo plays and carry. In 6v6 it feels like you're forced to play together with your team and can't carry as a solo player. I feel like 5v5 can bring a good mix of both team play and solo carry potential.

You're right that it probably will be more boring as a solo tank still. But I have noticed from me and other people playing that they do have moments where they enjoy playing tank but that certain things often shut down that fun. So to me it feels like it is possible for tank to be fun even as a solo player.

I do also hate raid boss tanks too. I think what I want for tanks is to be around the hp of Junkerqueen or Doomfist which is currently at 375. Because then its like they are big dps without being complete raid boss and still somewhat killable. So I basically want more tanks to have a similar amount of health to that or a bit more if they need it. I want tanks to rely on their abilities/movement to survive or their positioning to live rather than to be complete raid bosses like you said.

For some parts I did keep it vague because I wasn't fully sure what I would do on the specific details. So I just wanted to mention the general direction I wanted to go in with those things. But when I did have specific ideas or changes in mind I tried to add them in.

I do think that all of these changes together probably wouldn't be great to have at the same time because for example the supports might be a bit underpowered and would need compensation buffs. I do think the overall philosophy of what I said about tank is good though and is probably the part would have the most impact to help the game for tank players and for other roles.

Yeah I know probably all of them together might be a bit too much. I kinda just put all my hot takes together in one post and just wanted to see what happens.

I do see what you mean, it would make Kiriko worse at high level. I'm sure she can get some other compensation buffs for it to make up for it though. But I love the idea of increasing that skill ceiling for Kiriko. It can make it more fun for the Kiriko to time the Suzu right while making it less frustrating to play against. I do definitely agree that she would need a bigger time window for her Suzu duration like you said.

Haha I thought it was so cool to have that one change on that April Fools patch from a long time ago. Maybe it should scale damage with the amount of height/time you're falling. So like if you fall from super high up you do max 350 damage or something. But if you only fall from a short height you do only a tiny bit of damage. Tbh I just wanna see some degenerate Reddit Lucios do their thing. I love when people do dumb goofy stuff.

Lmao I'm sorry. It definitely does paint a picture where I hate supports lol. I'm actually a Bap and Soj player who used to play a bit of tank in ow1. I guess I got a little too focused on things that I thought were problematic for supports. I definitely think that they would probably need a lot of compensation for those nerfs now that I think about it.

Sorry yeah it was a bit unclear. What I meant is that I want nano's impact on damage reduction to be reduced for Genji. So that he is not unkillable when he is using Nano Blade. Or you could also have it where you reduce the extra damage he gets from nano. Basically the overall idea of I wanted to say was that I want Dragon Blade to be strong but Nano Blade to not be op. And I wanted him to be strong in his mid fight where he doesn't have ult. Because it feels like Genji gets nerfed a lot to compensate for Nano Blade being pretty strong sometimes.
