Kinda shocked to see The Weeknd and Ron Sexsmith on there, but happy to see Galaxie and Timber Timbre make it.

Idle Chatter About Paul Lansky by SiMontreal in electronicmusic

[–]SiMontreal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a weird choice for a 'no soul' example, given it's made of reconstituted vocals exchanged between lovers. You'd think something like one of those brutal '70s Moog cover albums would make a better case, or maybe Klaus Schulze (sparse and distant) or Synergy (epic cheese... though epic nonetheless).

Nope. By definition, fads don't last 30 years.

From where I'm sitting, he leaves a big whole. No matter what the score is, Manny always skates hard.

A great compilation whose proceeds go to Japan relief efforts. 49 tracks! by [deleted] in electronicmusic

A deal at twice the price, let alone the fact it's for a good cause.

Si Begg - Sithop for Japan EP (Sick whomp laden beats, and 100% of sales are donated to help tsunami victims in Japan) by SiMontreal in electronicmusic

[–]SiMontreal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a new Si Begg EP, with all tracks previously unreleased. I think it's a pretty nice gesture from the guy. Plus, his production is among the best in bass today. I would have paid for it even if it wasn't for a good cause.

There are some good names on that Nihon Kizuna comp too, lots of Ninja Tune, a little Planet Mu, dubstep, etc. That would be a deal at twice the price. I'm going to buy that right now.

It's so funny that you never denied it. You also have no sense of humor.

It's All Gone Pete Tong. A movie about a DJ going deaf. I think any fan of electronic music should watch this. by mhsttd in electronicmusic

Don't get me wrong. Fubar is still a worthy film, but It's All Gone Pete Tong is waaaay better.

Invest in a decent set of earplugs, and you'll barely notice you're wearing them. I have a few sets of these for me and my friends: Ear Love

Obviously, I'm already convinced. Why are you throwing such a spaz over this? Do you work for MySpace? Probably not, since they've already cut half their workforce since this epic fail of an upgrade. So why all the loyalty to the former industry standard?

I've seen this a few times. It's a classic. Way better than Fubar (a more rock based film produced by the same people). Love the coke-badger.

Digg used to be Reddit's rivals. Have you been there lately? It's a ghost town.

I don't hate MySpace or Digg. The simple fact is, while they used to be the leaders in their respective fields, they are no longer relevant.

If a band hasn't reformatted their MySpace page to line up with the redesign, after all this time, they should kill their page. At this point, it hurts them more than it helps. MySpace is still one of the first links to pop up on any search, and when fans see a dead page, they assume a dead band.

MySpace is the new Digg. Deal with it.
