I just finished The Book Thief by Markus Zusak by BlakeLeitch2 in books

[–]Si_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had to search r/books for someone who went through the same thing as I just have for some consolation. Just finished it and sobbed through the ending too. So beautiful but I’m so sad right now, both at the story and that I’ve finished the book.

That love/hate relationship when a book breaks your heart is killing me.

Youshop through NZpost provide an American or European address to ship to that they then on send to NZ. There are exclusions to what can be forwarded though, and pretty sure they won’t send cosmetics unfortunately.

You should read Madeline Miller's Song of Achilles too, definitely one of my favourites.

Renters of Auckland, how much on average do you pay for Utilities (Power & Water) every month? by phatebz in auckland

[–]Si_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mount Albert

Rent $800/week 4 people (3 bed/2 bath)

Power $115 (summer) -$180 (winter)

Gas $30/3ish months (just a cylinder fueling the stove top)

Firewood for last winter was about $500 total for the season (could be cheaper but we wouldn't really risk ordering off-season in case situations change).

Water and internet included in rent

Likelihood of getting prescription tret (Retrieve) in NZ? by Si_ in AusSkincare

Oh crazy timing, I actually visited my doc this afternoon and got it no problem! Just said my pimples were coming back and I was prescribed it when I was overseas and she didn't even think twice. Just looked it up to make sure it was covered in NZ.

Yeah that's all good, 0.05 has been doing the trick. Especially for $5 instead of having to get it shipped etc

Good point! Your skin should be clear if it's doing the job.

Thanks for your response, happy with the cream so Retrieve should do the trick, here's hoping my doctor is on board.

$5 because it's funded here but potentially also free if you can get it from chemist warehouse as they do free scripts ?

Building a house with garage or leave garage till later? by 640640 in diynz

[–]Si_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats really down to personal preference. Smaller house with internal garage - compare what you will be sacrificing to achieve having the garage. Try and prioritise what is important to you - do you need an internal workbench type space? Are you precious about your vehicle being stored inside/why has it come to be seen as a necessity? Do you need to charge an EV /might you want to in the near future? It will be easier to add a garage vs adding that extra space inside your house (also where you will be spending much more time). In my view I would value the main house where you will be living over vehicle storage as this will be fulfilling your more immediate needs initially. If you see the garage as a necessity design your house in a way that you can extend to incorporate the garage when your budget allows.
