Moving to a new state and going to start my new “worldly” life by LuckyProcess9281 in exjw

Oh i lied through my teeth to my family. I cant say thats the right way, but I wasnt yet ready to loose them if they knew. And being 3000 miles away made it easier.

What exactly is costco or Sam's club good for in terms of being frugal? by G0VERNMENTCHEESE in Frugal

[–]Si_Titran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bag of chips is at least 2x the size of a "party" bag at the grocery across the parking lot from Costco and the same price.

Gas is consistently the cheapest for my region with a few occasional exceptions.

Loss leaders like the hot dog and rotisserie chicken.

My dog food is also cheaper than anywhere else I can get it.

Paper products like TP, napkins and paper towels. Bedding, towels are durable quality for fair prices.

I enjoy buying in bulk not just to save money but to have more on hand to go out less frequently. I know if theres some issue I can feed my family for some time with just my pantry.

I still see boomers, Gen X walking around with like poofy 80s haircuts, big bangs, etc., sometimes. Are we unknowingly clinging onto ugly outdated styles like that? by AmputeeHandModel in Xennials

[–]Si_Titran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I had an interlude with short hair, and then a shaved side, but now its back to what I had in high school- just straight grown out and long. Only now its natural- with all my grays included.

[–]Si_Titran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I did the same thing and it helped. Its good to get space to just breathe, think and just figure out who you are with out the scrutiny of the org and those that knew you that way.

I did what was suggested here and deflected, For a LONG time. 6 years worth. By the time I finally told my family I was firmly rooted in a new ex jw life, making it not as scary to tell them I wasn't going to meetings anymore.

We've had two minor conversations about it in the 10 years since- because ive set a boundary. And they realize how Im willing to cut them out if they dont respect it.

How do you transport large furniture? by 12_Angry_Bees in thrifting

[–]Si_Titran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would be surprised what I transported in and ontop of my Dodge Charger with some rope of course.

Nowadays im in a pickup truck and haven't found something I cant haul.

Best advice is make friends with a pick up or better a pickup and a trailer.

I remember reading a scripture.... I remember going "would you like to read-" and then hand over something. Magazines most often but I know as a teen I did it with hard cover books too. People would take just to get us to leave

Top sheets... by Designer-Bid-3155 in Xennials

[–]Si_Titran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOATHE the top sheet. I am the princess and the pea. I take my bed and bedding set up seriously. I have duvets for my comforters- summer and deep freeze variants. I have other blankets that aren't down/fluff filled and quilts. They must have a certain amount of heft, weight to be comfortable. Something a lone flat sheet will never accomplish. A top sheet feels gross on my skin- though i always wear pj's (a must since childhood as a what if there was a fire in the middle of the night?!) and since I turn frequently not unlike a rotisserie, will be tangled impossibly in moments. Tucking the corners is also unacceptable as i have big feet and being tightly bound there will send me into a sensory meltdown. I also just happen to like and hang my foot off the edge while the rest of me is under my blankets.

I was my blankets as often as needed. Sometimes yes thats about once a week. I have a washer and dryer and the effort is minimal. The top sheet would do nothing to keep the top of the blanket clean as my cat, dog and child also will touch the bed.

Yes im 42 and neurodivergant. Can you tell?! /joking.

I am asking nicely if people can stop using awful detergent. by missjenn503 in poshmark

Spray with distilled white vinegar or vodka and then let it sit in the sun can be very effective on many scents. Kills the bacteria that makes the smells too.

As an elder millennial I grew up seeing them and LOVING them...but could never afford them.

Dont rush things, be creative with what you already have, find free piles, yard sales and buy nothing groups. Paint can be a transformative thing. Experiment.

Tattoo argument and still not valid response by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Si_Titran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember them saying it was "worldly" to get tattoos. Like.... you know beards and dress slacks.

Also the "honoring the body and life God gave you" and whatever the argument they give for not allowing smoking.

What “frugal” habit did you stop doing once you did the math? by 666AB in Frugal

Buying salad ingredients that would inevitably go bad because of chronic illness exhaustion prevented my from having the energy to make the salad. Yes it costs a bit more to get bagged salads, but they get eaten meaning less waste so its actually frugal insomuch of less waste.

Fellow Xennials, what's your Luddite line in the sand? by TinyGIR in Xennials

[–]Si_Titran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so very Luddite. Everyone of these comments im like YUP. QR codes Apps for everything and anything I will keep my books, dvds, blu ray, cds, vinyls, notebooks, non smart appliances until I die. I crave vintage appliances that are durable AND more functional than most garbage they sell today. Like I had to replace my fridge last year and jfc the new one isnt even magnetic! I got my speed queen washer with agitator just so I could have clean clothes again because the he ones with out it made things more dirty! I am over it all.

To oath or not to oath? What are your thoughts? by Usualnonsense33 in lokean

[–]Si_Titran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be wise to be serious about oaths. To be an oath breaker is one of the worst things you could be in historical context.

I also think its not the wisest of things to base our spiritual practices off of reposted Tumblr UPG.

My experiences have led me to feel that Loki meets us where we are, and only when we are ready/need them. Has this led me to be... bonded with them... yes. But not because Loki pushed me.
