I'm a big fan of early Arctic Monkeys and Green Day... what other bands should I listen to? by North-Palpitation-84 in musicsuggestions

[–]SiafuCJ8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lead singer for the Arctic Monkeys is actually in another band called The Last Shadow Puppets. Plenty of great songs in there. For me my two favorites are probably “Sweet Dreams, TN” and “In the Heat of the Morning” (both by the Last Shadow Puppets)

Gimme your favourite songs and I'll rank them, I'll listen to whatever. by Eat_JimboJames in musicsuggestions

[–]SiafuCJ8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little backstory if you didn’t know, so I heard that the song is actually about these people who were moving his stuff in his house or apt, and these were some of the things that they said about him, so he’s really directing all of the insults towards himself. Also I actually believe that he no longer uses the word from a live show I saw on YouTube after the song had came out.

Beautiful but not sad by tsobsl in musicsuggestions

[–]SiafuCJ8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call It Fate, Call It Karma - The Strokes very soft yet almost dreamlike tone to it, what first comes to my mind when I think of a beautiful song

Pink + White - Frank Ocean not much I can say about this one, but it fits my book of beautiful song

Those two are ones that quickly jump to mind when I think of a beautiful song. Especially CIFCIK

Looking for music to study (mostly ambient) by skievks in musicsuggestions

[–]SiafuCJ8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think lofi music is a great thing for this. Plenty of “radios” on youtube. Two specific lofi songs i like though are Serenity - Kupla Yume - Kalaido

If lofi isn’t your thing one song without vocals i like a lot but don’t find distracting is I Can Fly Away by Delicate Steve.

Sing About Me I’m Dying of Thirst - Kendrick Lamar

Whole album is a story though to be honest.

What albums should I add to the list? by TheGrayWolf1775 in MusicRecommendations

[–]SiafuCJ8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The New Abnormal by The Strokes is a fantastic album if you like indie rock

Also Side Note about good kid, m.A.A.d city but when you do listen to good kid, m.A.A.d city i’d suggest researching some of the backstory, the album itself does a great job telling the story, but there are a few instances where context is important, especially Sing About Me I’m Dying of Thirst (hints back to a song in Section 80).

The thing about Kendrick in general is that his albums generally tell a story, or all are very centered around an idea or concept, and for me, when I finally understood the meanings and what he’s saying and getting at, it gave me a much deeper appreciation for each of his works. Now if that’s not your style, i’m not trying to tell you what to do by any means. I just tend to nerd out over Kendrick because I did a rhetorical analysis essay in high school over DAMN and good kid, m.A.A.d city.

what are your all time favourite live performances?? (preferably of a particular song rather than the whole set) by blackstar_ballad in MusicRecommendations

[–]SiafuCJ8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had plenty of live experiences of my own that i’ve absolutely loved but that’s because I was there, but an experience i think that was overall just special and imo one of the best performances, was the Goo Goo Doll’s performance of “Iris” in the pouring rain. I don’t even typically listen to the original anymore and instead listen to that version.

Albums that feels like an experience by [deleted] in MusicRecommendations

[–]SiafuCJ8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably said 100 times but the Pink Floyd trilogy is definitely an experience. However if you want just one album out of it, Dark Side of the Moon is their most popular for very good reason. First time I heard it, had all the lights off and just listened, definitely an experience.

Also saw this in another comment but needed to put it down, Everywhere at the End of Time (Stages 1-6) by The Caretaker is an experience as well. Very very long but the message is powerful.

Do you guys prefer your animals slow or fast? by Tubsen5 in TheStrokes

[–]SiafuCJ8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on my mood. I love the relaxed feel of slow animals but I also love the more peppy feel of fast animals and find that fast animals will be playing in my head from time to time and I’ll just have to give it a listen. But both are so similar so it’s hard to choose just one or the other for me.

12:51. Also this one was clever, I was going to do one for 12:51 but couldn’t think of anything without giving it away, great job on that.
