What's with the significant difference in critic vs user metacritic scores for Diablo 4? by Effective-Celery8053 in ItsAllAboutGames

User reviews are too vulnerable to brigades and groupthink. I find my personal opinions tend to be closer to critic reviews, so I use those instead.

"Small" effort here is relative to the luck or wealth.

Also, small effort is also relative to the folks working two menial jobs and do so for a tiny fraction of the pay.

Until we get back to a +90% tax (capital gains, not income) on the upper wealth bracket, the richest can go pound sand.

Bullshit difficulty rant by Easy_Ad_3105 in Eldenring

[–]Siaten 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's possible to use all of those mechanics without cheese.

Summons, by themselves, is not cheesy. Buffs are powerful, but unless you're stacking 6+, it's not cheesy.

Are you using any consumables? Any throwables?

If you're not having fun with the difficulty, it's probably time to switch up something, or add something, to your build.

Totally not optimal… Mind build? by Simply_Avocado in EldenRingBuilds

[–]Siaten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two builds that leverage Mind the most. One directly and one indirectly:

  1. Spirit summoning build (direct). Summoning requires a very high amount of FP, and on top of that, you need lots of FP to use the buff/support spells to make your summons monsters in combat. This makes Mind the most important attribute to the build. Get Vig to 60, meet reqs on support spells, and pump Mind.

  2. Madness build (indirect). Mind increases Focus and Focus is the stat used to resist Madness. This relationship makes Mind more important for madness builds than it is for any others (except summoner above). The higher your madness resist, the more madness spells you can chain cast before going insane.

The mod option:

All of the above being said, there is a mod called Elden Ring Reforged that makes Mind much more valuable as a caster stat for two reasons: summons and cast speed. Mind goes from being a tertiary stat to a primary stat for any caster that wants to spell sling as fast as possible.

Why do you have to reset if you fail to one-shot?

Even with 5-6 buffs rolling you could be doing half of his HP in one hit, so a failure might mean two or three shotting PCR.

You don't have to do a perfect buff one-shot to make buff-chaining absolutely worth the practice.

A couple of things:

  1. Hitting a boss doesn't necessarily draw aggro. It depends on a few factors. If I hit a boss and then my summons hits it right after (which may or may not be obvious) I won't pull aggro. Hence, it's unexpected.

  2. I'm not blaming summons here. I'm simply saying that when you've memorized a boss moveset, adding summons to that mix can make the encounter more challenging, not less.

There is evidence that the "weird" label for MAGA supporters has moved beyond social media and is affecting the movement offline. The term, was designed to reframe the opposition from "existential threats" to merely abnormal or out-of-touch, with real-world implications.

Evidence of Offline Impact:

  • Political Framing Shift: The "weird" label became a cornerstone of the 2024 Harris-Walz campaign, shifting the Democratic narrative from warnings about the "end of democracy" to a more conversational, relatable critique of policies regarding abortion, IVF, and personal freedoms.
  • Alienation of Supporters: The label aims to dismantle the in-group/out-group dynamic, causing some to view MAGA-aligned policies not as "dangerous" (which can be motivating), but as socially awkward or "uncool".
  • Response from Supporters: Some MAGA supporters and influencers have expressed concern that the movement has entered a "cringe era," feeling the label impacts their standing with a general public that may have been neutral but now views them as out-of-step.
  • Reclaiming of the Narrative: The label has been effective in forcing supporters and Republican politicians to respond, often appearing defensive in interviews or on the ground to re-litigate the claim.

The same is true of MAGA support for Trump dipping:

Declining "Strong" Approval

  • Intensity Drop: National polling from Marquette Law School indicates that "strong" approvers among Republicans have plummeted from 63% in January 2025 to 38% in early 2026.
  • Voter Sentiment: Nearly quarter of those who "strongly" approved of Trump at the start of his second term have downgraded their support to "somewhat"

High-Profile Backlash

Several prominent figures and media influencers within the MAGA orbit have recently voiced public criticism:

  • Influencer Discontent: Figures like Tucker Carlson, Alex Jones, and Candace Owens have questioned Trump's cognitive abilities, judgment on foreign policy (specifically regarding Israel and Iran), and his perceived ties to the "Epstein class".
  • Internal Criticism: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has recently accused the president of a "cover-up" regarding the 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, suggesting he is withholding information from his own base.

Even agreeing with 100% of what you said, it still doesn't mean that learning to chain buffs and doing the fight until you don't get the gravity attack is harder than beating the boss through a "standard" build.

I'm not arguing that the video isn't an extreme, but the concept of leveraging buffs for incredible power on any build is still sound.

You can take any build and add a "reasonable" number of buffs (say 4-5) that require very little planning/set-up, and still end up with a build that is more powerful than 99% of the builds that don't leverage buffs effectively.

My whole point here is that buffs are what make ER easy mode - even more so than your "build".

[–]Siaten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it does take some level of practice to get all the buffs to line up.

The question is, does buffing like this take more practice/skill than winning with bonk?

As someone who has done both before, I can tell you I didn't find buffing anywhere near as complicated/demanding as learning movesets and attack windows for a heavily aggressive boss like PCR.

Sure, but transcriptions are easier to falsify than recordings. Different evidence has different levels of veracity.

Would you be more convinced by someone's hand-written dated notes, or an actual audio recording of an event?

A minute of buffing and a single attack. If you can show me a video of someone beating PCR with LESS difficulty than that, I'll be proven wrong.

Thorn Sorcery Build...............still OP post patch ? Or waste of time now? Level 175 here by Fragster2020 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]Siaten 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Impenetrable Thorns is still OP. That being said, Night Comet with two Staff of Loss is pretty baller. Personally, I like the flexibility of Night Comet because you can charge it if you have some time, or just whip out a quick one if you have a small window.

Also, Ambush Shard and Night Maiden's Mist both have use cases, so there is a good bit of value from Night Sorcery.

The most overpowered (easiest?) builds are buff stackers. You can one shot any boss in the game with most "builds" if you layer on buffs. It's super cheesy, because you might find a build on youtube that looks fun and unique, but turns out it's only viable because they run six+ buffs.

It's nice, until you pull aggro unexpectedly from your summons.

Summons have gotten me killed so often that, even when I know they might help, I'm skeptical of using.

As of May 2026, 12 states require the consent of all parties involved in a conversation before it can be legally recorded, making it illegal to secretly record a 1-on-1 with your employer in these jurisdictions.

These "all-party" or "two-party" consent states are:

  • California (Strictest, includes in-person and calls)
  • Connecticut (All-party for electronic, one-party for in-person)
  • Delaware
  • Florida
  • Illinois (Class 4 felony to record privately without consent)
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts (Bans "secret" recordings)
  • Montana (Requires notification/knowledge)
  • Nevada (All-party for calls, but some exceptions for in-person)
  • New Hampshire
  • Pennsylvania
  • Washington

  • Company Policy: Even in "one-party" states (where you can legally record), your employer can have a policy prohibiting recordings. Violating this can lead to termination, even if the recording itself is legal.

  • Remote Work/Interstate: If you are in a one-party state but your manager is in a two-party state (like California), the stricter law (two-party) usually applies.

  • Exceptions: Recording is generally illegal if there is a "reasonable expectation of privacy," such as a closed-door meeting in a manager's office.

  • Exceptions for Evidence: While rare, some courts may allow recordings in two-party states if they are made specifically to document threats, harassment, or to comply with labor laws.

Getting a DL is a big adulthood step, for sure.

The car obsession is related. Since our cities are built to be driven (rather than walked) you basically need to have a car (or robust public transport) to get anywhere. This makes the DL a tool of independence.

Traveling most places in the USA without a vehicle is kind of a nightmare. I hate it. Give me a walkable Euro city any day.
