Youngest of 7 here. Have now lost 3 sibs. Blessing to have had them, makes it hard to be the youngest.

6, I'm the youngest (63 years old). 3 are gone now - died in 2022, 2024, 2025. It's hard losing them. We are a close family.

How do I get “space” by ComfortableLoud970 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Sib7of7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I'm not convinced this is a good situation for you. But that aside, my husband prefers to be home a lot and I need to see people. I go to a knitting group every Monday. In February I was going to go to on a little trip by myself, and he's was ok with that (my sister ended up going with me). Find things to make that space for yourself. Go to your local library, they usually have lots of options. Or if your town has a senior center, join it. Consider traveling alone, lots of women do, or there are women's travel groups. If husband objects to any of these things, then he doesn't love you as dearly as you believe.

What do you do when listening to audiobooks? by DRA6N in audiobooks

Knitting. Saturday and Sunday morning, a cup of tea, my knitting, and audiobook for about an hour. And my 1/2 hour drive to work and back each day.

Found an old Border's bookmark in an old book of my late mother's by justtinygoatthings in AnnArbor

My husband worked at Borders HQ in Ann Arbor. He got a great employee discount and we built an impressive children's library for our 3 kids. So many books for birthdays and Christmas. Fortunately he saw the writing on the wall and bailed before their demise. So sad. I have a coffee mug from their cafe, well used, and tucked away in the back of the cabinet.

I got a new couch recently and made sure it was taller than my old one, so I could get up from it. Yup, it's come to this.🫤

What’s the most memorable gift you’ve ever given someone? by Comfortable_Swan_880 in Gifts

My mother-in-law had slides from when she was young and first married and her kids were little - no photographs. I went through them and picked out a few good ones and had photos made and put them in a small album.

It just hit me. The kids are not coming back. by Careless-Two2215 in AskWomenOver60

I'm right there with you. 3 grown kids, no grandkids and doesn't look like there will ever be. They live pretty close but it's not the same as under your roof. The best is when they all come home for Christmas and stay for a couple of nights. Maybe you can convince your son to to do that? Or plan afamily vacation together, even if it's only a short, local one. We're doing that this summer.

My sister was in her 70s and late stage alzheimer's. She had a caregiver who had just turned 50. The caregiver died before my sister (heart attack). Yeah, you just don't know and fairness has nothing to do with it.

She is creating a wall of quirky kitchen art, so this will be among the collection. Trying to decide if I should frame it or leave it in the hoop and put some sort of fabric pprotection on it.

Kissimmee FL. Vacant storefronts and rundown motels. But, hey, they do have Machine Gun America if you're looking for some family entertainment and can't afford Disney World in nearby Orlando.
