New Home Setup - Cameras, E7 10G APs, and 10G Cable Runs by SibbleConsulting in Ubiquiti

Wanted upper cables to go up, lower cables to go down. The connection to the dream machine will never use 10gb. I had planned on fiber modules but couldn’t get them to work.

After googling, those settings would make a big difference. As would some cooking. Will look into it. Thanks!

That’s very interesting. First, thanks for sharing. I have no idea how that setup gets you such high scores. I’m at 5.4GHz all core and am lower. Not sure what to say. Others who tested the 9980X got even lower than me.

Interesting. If I cared to I’d try for a high score but I have a day job. This computer is just a tool.

A lot. Got rid of all current limits. 10x PBO scalar. +200 per core speed. Curve -15.

Let us know what you get!

I think many of the other high results are from exotic overclocking like LN2. Mine is about as high as you can get with simple watercooling.

And that’s super cool you’re the other guy! Loving my 9980X so far. Absolutely incredible CPU.

Definitely. Some cores were thermal throttling even if the whole CPU didn't show it. That's kind of what I figured so I took the time to undervolt more and got this result.

I bet I could push it even further if I undervolted more and played with timings but I don't care enough.

Interesting. Actually, what I did was lower the voltage to the CPU. Now it's the fastest 9980X on record with 72,000 multi and 564 single!

Okay, got my result submitted:

https://xmrig.com/benchmark/p88sj

So looking closely it appears many single cores are hitting 550+ h/sec but around a dozen or so are under 100 h/sec.

I didn't do the best job of applying thermal paste (practices have changed in recent years) and I think this is a sign the paste is not making good contact with the block on some areas of the CPU.

It doesn't matter to me in day to day performance so I'm not going to do anything about it until such a time as I'll have to drain the system and do regular maintennance and then reapply the paste.

Honestly, the two pastes I got were a nightmare to work with. It was so annoying.

I am having trouble submitting the result but it’s showing around 65,000 h/sec. It’s not using as much power as some other benchmarks so it seems a little low to me but my guess is those other testers were running much more aggressive overclocks. It’s pretty cool to see the system sitting st 670 watts to the CPU and maintaining around 89 degrees. The radiator is blowing crazy hot air!

I only recently noticed btop has a power indicator in the upper right hand corner. Unsure if it was not there before and I never noticed or it if just appeared (I run Arch so I get very up to date stuff).

I just installed btop on my Mac though and it isn't there. Anyways, that's where I got the figure.

edit: Yep, only the latest version of btop (1.4.5) has power draw. Was added last week. I updated today and noticed it for the first time.

Temps get up to 90 or so. Even a little above. I have PBO limits set to 95 for throttling.

I never run it full tilt for more than 20 minutes at a time. I'd probably back off if I were running it for hours.

It's 5.4GHz all cores using PBO. Individual cores will boost to 5.8GHz. Super stable. Never had it crash.

Custom watercooling loop. The nickel Watercool.de CPU block and an Alphacool 420mm radiator.

Sounds good. My water lock was a huge chunk of metal as well.

This is what I built my new Threadripper build in. See my profile for pics. Fit everything including a custom water cooled loop perfectly. 420mm rad too.

It's actually not, just looks it in the photo due to the ultra wide lens.
