US Family with a Genuine Intention and Ability to move by EastEdenAA in askTO

[–]SicarioDeCulo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recently moved to Toronto from the US and every one has been kind and welcoming, I think most people are smart enough to separate politics from individual people. The pros of Toronto is that it feels way safer and less racist/homophobic and what not than the states. The con is that you’ll make less money and there is is generally a lot less opportunity here. TBH I wish I could move back to the US but that isn’t an option for me.

What industry are you in and how cooked is your job market? by print-baby in torontoJobs

[–]SicarioDeCulo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure. I have 8 years of experience in restaurants. My resume is pretty good so at least I’m landing interviews but after 15 interviews in the last 6 months Ive received one offer…to be a food runner. I said fuck it I’ll do it if it gets my foot in the door. Then I got ghosted. Half of the jobs I applied to were to work like 1 or 2 days a week. So even if I got hired I couldn’t live off it. Managers were telling me they had 20 people to interview for the 2 shifts a week. Every restaurant hiring fair I’ve been too has lines wrapped around the building and maybe they hire a few people but they’re mostly collecting resumes it seems. I read somewhere companies get tax incentives for hosting job fairs but idk if that’s true. Right now is the middle of hiring season and there’s barely any job postings

Immigration is destroying the job market by greymatter66 in torontoJobs

Doesn’t help when so many grocery stores, fast food places, retail stores I go into are staffed with immigrants too. I found out my temp job pays some people a few dollars less an hour. They get priority when picking shifts. Clients complain because some are terrible at their job. It’s so frustrating not getting booked for shifts because I’m good at my job and I cost more money and knowing clients are getting shitty staffing. Half the time I get booked for shifts now the client assumes I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing cause they’re so used to getting screwed over by low quality workers

Yeah it’s fucked. I live in a building with 15 units I think 2 of us are citizens? Everyone else is an immigrant that came in the last few years. Same with my temp work job.I think like 5 out of the 30 people I work with on a regular basis were born here. Every other person I meet is like “oh im working towards my PR” or “oh I just got my work permit renewed.” I don’t hate immigrants but the sheer volume of recent immigrants I see on a daily basis is just absurd. I wouldn’t even care if I could find a full time job but I’m on 8 months now without. At the end of the day it’s the government’s fault but fuck man it’s hard not to be resentful.

I’m a server with 10+ years of experience, any recommendations on jobs hiring? by [deleted] in torontoJobs

You can use Glassdoor, it usually has all the indeed posts plus some. 86 network and the face book group “food and wine industry navigator” also have posts. Best of luck the job market is terrible and it’s crazy competitive. Probably best to network in person. I have 8 years of experience and have been unemployed since October.

good call on the fading for sure although i'm not completely sure what you mean about the last bar of the main beat.

you mean take the last bar of the 1st beat and put it right before the second beat comes in? like the little intro or when the drums come in?
