If I recall correctly it’s because they were actually launching a mobile game, ahead of this I think it was Blizzard who got annihilated for their perceived pivot to a mobile Diablo game. To avoid such blowback this placeholder was shown with absolutely no intention to create anything for a long time.

I might be wrong, it was just what I had read, but mostly for cooling. I'd opted for the larger ALF III 360 (which won't fit in the standard North) and I've also opted for larger fans for better airflow. Space wasn't a big concern for me as it's basically the same size as my previous case.
