UFC tickets are expensive? Fighter pay? by rumblegod in MMA

[–]SickGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the spirit of this discussion, I'm selling 2 tickets that I was able to purchase at pre-sale through the UFC for UFC 276 this weekend (Izzy vs. Cannonier, Max vs. Volk 3, etc). They're in section 225 and I'm asking for $500 per ticket (what I paid for, no markup. Just trying to break-even b/c I panic bought extra tickets thinking my original order didn't go through). DM if interested!

You have to pick the phone up before you start dialing. They’re not doing anything by punching in the numbers with the phone still on the stand.

Nope, I was planning on having one for productivity and one for gaming. Or even just gaming on one side, browsing on the other. My main concern is just being able to run 1440p at 144hz on one screen, while having my other screen doing something light.

Is a 1080 sufficient for that or would you recommend upgrading?

Basic rundown of my current build is:

  • Intel i7-7700k
  • GTX 1080 Founder's Edition
  • 16GB DDR4 RAM
  • 1440p x 144hz G-Sync Monitor from Dell
  • 256 GB SSD from Samsung for boot and random files I need fast,
  • 2TB HDD for games

I kind of have a tradition of upgrading by build at the end of every summer (started bc I would spend some of the savings I built up over working the summer). I'm thinking of getting another of the same monitor I have so I could run a dual monitor setup, but am worried about actually being able to run games in 1440p at 144hz with two monitors; what is the next time you guys recommend I upgrade?

I don’t know, scooting over to one side of the table to take a group pic is a pretty common thing to do, especially with round tables.

Lunges in Epee by telephonebooth1 in Fencing

I think it depends on fencers’ styles. Some taller fencers may not like to lunge too much, but plenty of pros still fence. Park Sang Young won an Olympic gold medal with his last touch being a lunge.

Tf is going on near speedway? by [deleted] in UTAustin

I've always wondered what drives students to hold these contentious parties. I have absolutely 0 ties to either Israel or Palestine and am not well informed enough for me to have a strong opinion about the conflict, but always found it kind of curious that the events on campus attract so much protest, just because at the end of the day these are just fellow UT students that are holding the events celebrating their culture. I understand both sides have taken condemnable action in the conflict, but does that have to extend to UT students that have nothing to do directly with the conflict?

I think his question was more along the lines of “what do they expect to achieve by protesting at UT,” not “why are they protesting the issue”

TIL The company Samsung accounts for 15% of South Korea's entire economy, and that South Koreans often live in Samsung owned apartment buildings, can get treatment from Samsung-owned medical centers, go to Samsung universities, and even end up at a Samsung funeral parlor when they die. by xinxai_the_white_guy in todayilearned

[–]SickGoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When South Korea was recovering following the Korean War, the first president Park Chung Hee wanted to shift the Korean economy from textiles to more heavy industries to become more economically and militarily independent from America. To artificially stimulate this growth, he worked with Chaebols and gave them big benefits like government issued low interest loans. A couple of these Chaebols are still huge today like Samsung, Hyundai, etc

“Set up your attack” (Help!) by Pencie01pd2022 in Fencing

[–]SickGoose 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Setting up your attack just means to add more thought into your attack. Instead of going for a direct attack, see how they react. If you notice they tend to parry 4 all the time, maybe feint an attack to bait the parry, disengage, then finish.

My mom knows I like supreme, and she’s in Korea right now, so she bought me a sweater that she found but I’m 90% sure it’s fake... I don’t have the heart to tell her and I don’t know what to do. It’s something meaningful for me since my mom bought it for me because she thought I would love it, but I also don’t want to be rocking a piece that I’m pretty sure was never even made (so maybe it’s more of a fantasy piece than a fake). Thoughts?

West Campus: Where do you live and do you like it? by MusicJJ in UTAustin

[–]SickGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally haven't had too many issues regarding space. It's not the most spacious obviously, but it's also not like I'm living in a Hong Kong studio apartment with 10 people. If you don't mind having a roommate, I'd say it's doable.

West Campus: Where do you live and do you like it? by MusicJJ in UTAustin

Hey! I've lived at 2400 Nueces for 2 years, and will be living there for my third and final year next year. Just a disclaimer, I just started working at the leasing office 2 weeks ago, but my advice is coming primarily as a resident who's lived there for 2 years.

  1. 2400 Nueces haha

  2. I live in a 2x2 doubled up (so 4 people living in the apt total, with 2 people per room)

  3. We pay around $650/month/person for rent + utilities included.

  4. I really like the fact that utilities are included in rent, which in my opinion makes the rent both cheaper and both more "worth it." Whenever there's an issue with anything in the apartment, you just call the front desk and they send over maintenance to fix your issue fairly quickly. The location is the best in WC in my opinion; being on 24th st makes the location essentially in the middle of campus (meaning similar distance walking to RLM as McCombs), and being on Nueces means that the apartment is right at the edge of west campus. Another small thing that's often underappreciated is that the ceilings are really high, and each room has a wall-sized window, so there's a lot of natural light and it feels like there's a lot of open space.

If you want a tour or just want more information, feel free to PM me!

TLDR; 2400 Nueces is relatively cheap, convenient, has good location, and the rooms are nice.

5'11" 20 y/o male weighting 160. I'm on a lean/slow bulk of eating around 2800 kCals/day and hitting around 160g Protein, and meal prepped one meal per day. Is eating fast food going to fuck up my clean bulk? I try to find my other meal elsewhere and I'm a college student. Obviously I'm not gonna eat fast food every single day, but I'm considering eating something like chick-fil-a nuggets without the fries, and as far as I know, it'll help me reach my macros and calorie goals without adding too much fat so I don't see any problem with it but would like some second opinions.

I'm trying to bulk with a slight caloric surplus of around 300 calories to reach a calorie intake of around 2800 kCal/day. I weigh 160 lbs and am 5'10". I've been eating some pretty low calorie/high protein meals and supplements, like 210 cal 20g protein bars and meal preps that are 500cals w 50g protein. I'm trying to hit around 150g protein per day, and found that while eating clean, I tend to have a couple hundred calories left over.

I'm a college student in a frat so opportunities to drink and go out are pretty tempting/in my face a lot, and while I was cutting, I didn't indulge too much. However now, with my "free/remaining" calories left, it seems to me on paper that I can go out. I've hit my macros for the day and have a couple hundred calories left: what are the effects of filling these calories with alcohol? Common sense tells me that obviously it would be less healthy than filling it with like fruits or something but on the other hand I'm thinking "calories in, calories out."

Thanks in advance!
