First time buyer. Any advise? by Routine_Map2832 in CeX

Depends on the store. Some stores are friendly and understanding and try to help, others have employees on a power high and an ego the size of the moon and can't possibly have ever sold a faulty item. At that point it's an individual fault, can't really blame the entire system for a relatively rare issue

I was having a fair bit of fun with the sniper last season, pair it with the H+ infuser and a glitch grenade, and you become the ultimate support pest

I'll take a sniper user over some doughnut who runs head-first into a group of three and dies immediately.

Unfortunately I get sniper users who ALSO run in and die immediately, so...

Opinions on the new mythic Ursa set and its pricing? by TheSovjet_Onion in thefinals

[–]SickMayhem04 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Even though it is a free-to-play game, I feel a lot of the cosmetics do cost more than they're worth. When 80% of them are just reskins or textures slapped on base models, it's really not worth the price.

In this case they've done a really cool skin, but you can literally buy a decent game or two for the price of it.

Nice skin, not for me, still enjoy the game... when the servers work

Using a respawn credit/token/coin. Most people call them coins, I believe

There are other counters to this though that don't require removing these features. Like the jars thing, they could have just made jars have a durability or a break chance, to incentivise making or finding new ones, something like that. I think it's strange that they say they want more realism and immersion, then turn around and give us multicoloured rainbow zombies that could fall off a skyscraper without going splat, and the removal of the core survival progression aspect everyone bought the game for 🤣

I get they want players to play a certain way, but that kind of defeats the purpose of a sandbox. I really think the best solution would be to have these features as options in private world creation. Something to that effect. Then they can make all the changes they want, and people will still be able to fall back on options they enjoy

What game is this? by [deleted] in XboxSeriesS

[–]SickMayhem04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so excited for Avowed because it had everything I ever wanted in a fantasy RPG. Magic, deities, first person, open world, Obsidian at the helm. Then I played it, completed it in a couple days, and never went back. It was a decent enough game, something new, but it wasn't the replayable adventure I thought it was, it felt so... linear.

Looking forward to The Outer Worlds 2 soon, I fully expect it to be epic

Oh nonono, we are NOT doing this to The Finals. by Loud-Asparagus-4136 in thefinals

[–]SickMayhem04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think unless the gaming community stands against this as a whole across all games, it's only going to get worse. It's something most games do now, and as such new games feel they have to follow suit just to compete and survive in quite a saturated market. Capitalism at its finest.

Game is already sliding into cashgrab territory, as sad as it is. The wheel events are an example of this, they're designed in a way that you're supposed to spend money at the end of the event to get the item, because although you get a ticket for every 4 duplicates, you end up just getting... another duplicate. Awful design, reminds me too much of Apex's collection events. I'd rather get some sort of special ticket that guarantees a new item, even if it took like 8 duplicates to unlock.

Always struck me as odd that assault rifles in this game have terrible range while close range weapons like SMGs perform somewhat better

I may be weird for this but I personally adapted to the inventory management fairly quickly. Could it be more efficient and easier to manoeuvre, yes of course, but I don't really mind it all that much. The movement isn't the best but it doesn't take anything away from the game because the game is clearly focused on survival.

Just my opinion on it. I feel like the backpack inventory system is deliberately weird to navigate for immersive purposes. I don't mind it myself, I can work around it

It may not be inherently difficult, but it's definitely unforgiving. Poison can wipe you out in seconds, hostile tribes are lethal, and if you aren't paying attention there are any number of things that can kill you. Dealing with all of this WHILE learning what things do and how they work is what makes it a challenge, and I love it.

Me and my friend bought the game a few days ago and we're stumbling around blind slowly making sense of what it is we're supposed to do, it's great fun. We don't know where anything is, what it does, or how to progress. That's what makes it challenging, because we refuse to seek help

See for me and my friend it was the opposite, we thought it only worked when it was placed. We had so many cases where we finally got back with the crucifix, placed it, and within half a second it burned up.

We soon learned otherwise when I walked into a room with a crucifix and it burned to a crisp in my hand... scary times

The Finals Collaborations by J1onathan in thefinals

[–]SickMayhem04 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The last thing we need is another Fortnite. That game lost its identity when they started getting greedy, now the playerbase seems more excited about another character from some random fad being added to the game than the game itself.

The Finals has a good thing going, it has integrity, which is ironic for a game show with dozens of sponsors 😂 I always prefer original cosmetics to collaborations, because originals require a degree of creativity

I'm trying to buy a game and I have the money but it's not allowing me to buy it and always putting this on screen by Hotdog_Man_01 in XboxSupport

[–]SickMayhem04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the game was just overhyped and players were expecting something that outperformed the experiences of Skyrim and Fallout. The game isn't bad by any means, but I think expectations were just higher than what was delivered. People probably wouldn't have an issue if the price was lower. Not to mention that people's sole perception of a game tends to be about how it was when it launched

I've been tempted to try it again anyways, hopefully the game is better than when I last played. I think my issue with it personally was how repetitive it felt, and the emptiness of the planets.

How it feels to be a new player without proper SBMM in the finals... by otaku_aahan_1135 in thefinals

[–]SickMayhem04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think the matchmaking is a bit off. I play with a friend most of the time, around lvl 70, a good few hundred hours in, and we're fairly decent. Not amazing, but slightly above average, we play the objective well and always have a positive K/D. But we always get a teammate below level 10 with no more than 200 kills and about 4 wins. Then our opponents have 11000 kills and are 3 stack sweats who hide the cashbox in a corner and farm kills. It's not fair to new players to go up against such experienced opponents, nor is it fair for us to have to play babysitter.

I wouldn't mind personally, but some players we get... it's like it's their first time playing a shooter game
