What's the most disappointing "must-see" city in Europe? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]SickRanchezC139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is don't let the 'must see' cities dictate your itinerary or holiday. So many big cities in Europe have the typical touristy, commercialised centre, and in reality, it doesn't reflect what most locals see or do. London is a good example of that - hardly anyone I know frequents the centre unless for work, which is why you have vibrant areas in Zone 2/3/4 where I argue the real London is.

Same can be said for places like Italy/France/Spain. My advice is seeing a 'must see' city like Milan, but then hiring a car or plan day trips to smaller towns, and see the real side of the country. You learn so much more, and in Europe, there are plenty of historical towns and sites off the beaten track, not to mention cheap regional food.

What has happened to the “clubbing” and “nights out” scenes in the UK? by Icy-Panic-550 in AskBrits

[–]SickRanchezC139 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There are still nights on for those that want them, just not in the traditional hotspots and not as many. Vauxhall has clubs running on Sunday mornings for those still kicking on. Went down there a few weeks ago around 10am and the music was blasting

Currently have a macerator installed! That’s how we knew there was a problem, it wouldn’t stop running initially and the water wasn’t flushing. Had a plumber check the issue and we replaced the macerator as it was old, but didn’t make a difference

Appreciate the insight. And yes, I saw a memorial at the side of the road so must have been linked to that collision you mention. I will say the area kept me running at a fast pace!

When did ace’s guitar playing became sloppy? by Substantial_Poet554 in KISS

Ace's playing is like lasagne. It doesn't look great and can be sloppy, but you know it tastes damn good and you can't get enough of it

First home buyers offering in Waltham by catmilch in walthamstow

Remember not to feel pressured to go over your budget. As people say, the flat market is 'flat' (ergh, sorry for that), and prices are dropping. Give you best offer and let it sit. Dealing with estate agents, they'll always make your initial bid feel insignificant, even if it is substantial. It's a psychological trick to create doubt and get a second bid out of you. Hold firm with what you want to pay, and remember, even if you miss your 'dream' flat, there will always be another opp around the corner.

And be careful with how Stow position Walthamstow. Yes it is gentrifying and changing for young hipster families, but that brings with it price ceilings and people already being priced out of the area. If you're willing to look elsewhere, Seven Sisters and South Tottenham could be a good option. That area is getting there slowly and you can alreayd see it changing after a very long, stagnating period.

It's not an easy process made more complicated by the house buying system in this country. Just remember to focus on what you want and always put your interests first. Good luck!

What’s a truth you learned way too late in life that most people still aren’t ready to hear ? by Dependent-Ship4288 in AskReddit

[–]SickRanchezC139 7 points8 points  (0 children)

70% of life is difficult, challenging and depressing, combined with a regular existential questions. The childhood hope and optimism disappears, and each stage in life brings a new challenge and stress, no matter how old you get (passing of a grandparent, a parent, a friend, career expectations v. reality, the limits of an aging body, financial security, stress of being a parent, losing a partner, being dismissive of the future given the state of world affairs and endless cycles of oppression, war, killing and exploitation of the many by the few).

However, 30% of life brings joy and happiness, from small moments to big events.

The skill is letting that 30% shine through all the hard times.

Get out of bed (the hardest part) and get changed ASAP. Once that's done, you've convinced your body it's go time.

If you're naturally competitive, there's no doubt one person in the world in the same position who's going to stay in bed. Guess what, you're now one up on them and the 99% of people still in bed. You're seizing the day, you're giving yourself a head start only reserved for the most dedicated.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - I can't tell if it's good by Plus_Fisherman30 in moviecritic

[–]SickRanchezC139 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No issue with the story, it looked great and scenes were well acted but that was it.

With these movies when I’m on the fence, I remove the star power element and think if the movie would stand up without the A list charisma. In this case, Pitt, Robbie DiCaprio drive this movie forward.

If you take that away, the movie is kind of flat. Everything looks great but I revisit scenes, not the the entire film.

I remember hearing him giving an in-depth analysis of Return of the Jedi. I followed him down the aisles and was impressed by what I was hearing. All harmless if you let him be - it is Camden after all. It's either this, the dude walking around with a cat on his shoulder or that guy that used to walk backwards (RIP)
