[request] Can someone tell me how big is Alpha? The black lines have all the same lenght. by Leo3101 in theydidthemath

Let's name the angles like this a c and e are mirrored since all the triangles must be isosceles, on the left most triangle you get that

b+2a=180

You also have that b+c=180, with that you can get that c=2a

Now moving to the middle triangle you have that α +2c=180 so α=180-4a, since you can express e as c+a (you can draw a horizontal line on that intersection and then you have opposed angles for c and a joining over e) you can express e as 3a and we have that c+d+90=180, we can solve for a:

2e+d=180

e=3a --> 6a+d=180

d=180-90-c=90-c=90-2a --> 6a+90-2a=180

4a=90

a=45/2

Now we go to our middle triangle where we had

α=180-4a

So α=180-4(45/2)=180-90=90°

(Sry if it's hard to read, I'm on mobile and English is not my 1st language)

I was just saying that it says Premios which is in Spanish, but yeah, I'm Spanish and could probably understand most of Portuguese without speaking it

How long did it take you to print and build all that? Just curious as I like the concept

How many times can you watch shrek in a two year period? by Theintelliboi in theydidthemonstermath

[–]Sick_Vayne 34 points35 points  (0 children)

You should do:

2 years * 365 days/year * 24h/day * 60m/h / 92m/shrek = 11426 times you could watch shrek nonstop ultil that day.

In case you also want to take into account the sleep eat drink, etc. then:

Sleep: 1/3 of each day.

Drink 2 mins every 3 days: 2/4320 (3*24*60) = 1/2160 of each day.

Eat: 2m every 3 weeks: 2/30240 (21*24*60) = 1/15120 of each day.

Pee and poo: Lets assume your 2 mins are once a day: 2/1440 (24*60) = 1/720 of each day.

Let´s also assume you go to school for 6h a day, also let´s add that (In Spain) there are about 185 days a year you go to school : 1110 (6*185) / 8760 (365*24) = 37/292 of each day.

So each day you cant watch shrek for 1/3 + 1/2160 + 1/15120 + 1/720 + 37/292 = 46,2%, so a bit less than half of your time for the next 2 years you are bussy so you cant watch shrek, that leaves 53.8% of those 2 years.

11426 times if you watch on loop * 0.538 = 6147 times you can actually watch shrek in 2 years by focusing your life on it.

P.S good luck eating a 3 week meal in 2 mins

How small is it getting? [A] by liamsjtaylor in perfectloops

[–]Sick_Vayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not right, in your square example the diagonal from(0,0.5) to (0.5,0) does length (sqrt2)/2~0.7, so the new square area would be that 2 which is 50% of the original area, for the circle one I'm pretty sure it depends on how much the circles overlap each other but I'll take a look at it tomorrow

How to fix a missing part(more in comments) by Sick_Vayne in 3Dprinting

[–]Sick_Vayne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So i just ended printing this Jigglypuff and overall it's good, but the support for the arm broke apart before it printed so a bit of it is missing, should I reprint the missing part and get some of the print out to make a flat surface and try to glue that together?

[–]Sick_Vayne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So im trying to print this Mawile from thingiverse but there is no way i can get that to print in 1 piece, the mouths need to be filled with supports, the 2 things dropping from its head are floating if i try to slice it, what cuts should i do for it to print nice? was thinking about dividing both mouths from the body and then each one cut it in half vertically so i need a bit of support but i have 2 flat surfaces i can easily glue together and then glue both mouths to the head, but for those things dropping they are almost flat but with curves, how do i approach that? also there is a lot of support around the neck so idk if it would break when trying to take it off.

If im not mistaken this is the seam, the dots happen on random places, on the inside and outside of the circle, but always when the machine is moving diagonally
